In this video, the EAS mechanism is depicted by adding a super-electrophile to a simple unsubstituted benzene ring. In this case, it doesn’t matter which pi bond begins the initial attack, as each pi bond in the ring is equivalent. If you were to begin with a substituted benzene ring, then you would need to consider the directing effects of any substituents.
