You can start with nothing. Nothing against Michael I have no idea of his previous experience in the hobby and I not here to judge but there are definitely ways to can earn money with little to no starting capital. I've done this as a hobby for over 10 years and went full time last year so this is coming from personal experience. If Michael wants to reach out I would be happy to chat. I will be starting my own channel soon to share all my experiences and help people in the hobby. I already do content on my Instagram and have a fast growing Facebook community where I share a lot of information.

You didn't explicitly talk about, but I love how you said people were always going back to chase gains; going to Cosmic Eclipse when SWSH was already out. People are now doing the same thing with SWSH boxes. I don't necessarily blame people since S&V has been fairly weak so far, but if people want to get ahead, they'd be coming up with a plan for S&V now, instead of in a years time when SWSH has tried up.

No kidding. When was the last time you could get every set from an era under $100 a booster box? How much further can the bottom be? That price per pack is historically low. Even if you don't like SV, but want to open packs it's the cheapest thing you can get. SV will take off eventually just like every other era did.

Hi mate...great video. What needs to be considered is the cost of funding benefits (health, dental, insurance etc) that most employers pay for and the need to invest in retirement resources. The largest risk, IMO, is the uncontrollable risk that is "the market" and the mistakes that Nintendo can make as a public entity. Pokerev has the added benefit of being able to monetize his personal inventory (at sky-high prices), but he also is depleting a scarce resource over time. That high-demand, older inventory cannot be replaced unless they are at current prices. Finally, KZread is beginning to be over-saturated in Pokemon content and all that content needs to be absorbed. GLTU!

As a Google stock owner I’ve listened to the quarterly conferences and I do understand why monetization is so hard. We can’t really be paying every little small time content creator because the benefit provided by us outweighs that provided by them. Like the costs of storing all their videos and stuff on the servers isn’t cheap. And while a lot of them generate great business for Raid Shadow Legends, KZread itself doesn’t profit much. So for all these reasons I do totally understand why it’s hard to get monetized and should be because we can’t just throw money away.

I do Pokémon on the side, reselling singles, the only model you can’t make any cash flow from is “sealed investing”. I know because I have probably 100+ sealed booster boxes and it just ties up capital long term. It’s almost like a rental property with no rental income, that you hope to sell for a gain down the road. I enjoy sealed investing but it’s funny how many people count their “gains” when they are paper gains and they have never sold sealed nor have an outlet to see (mature eBay store) ect…

I have recently started sealed investing and have been buying some BBs and some other select products to sit on for the time being. Things people don't account for when dreaming of doing their hobby as a job is a few things. You most likely will trade 8-9 hours a day of work into 12-15 hours a day just to hit close to what you may have been making at your 9-5. Of course this could be more profitable depending on your current wages. For a younger person in their early 20s I would say go for it. Alot of people think it's a easy job selling cards/collectibles and it's not. It's very time consuming and you have to really grind to make a profit that is worth it in the end. If you are rich already then it's easy if you're sitting on no bills no mortgage and a heap of liquid cash then it can be really easy to buy and flip for major profits by buying high $ items and selling for a higher $ %age. But for people with not much starting cash buying a 10$ card to sell for 15$ isn't going to be worth the time effort and money after taxes and fees I the end.

You are right about putting in the hours if you want to see results but if you have the right business model and put your time in to the right areas effectively your business will flourish. The reason business owners do not progress I'd assume is you are repeating the same process over and over expecting a different result rather than making the correct adjustments. The other reason would be you are lacking time and effort in the right areas. I have done pokemon as s hobby for over 10 years and now do it full time and I share my experience with everyone in my community.
