Not really, they’ve had pretty much the same release schedule for more than a decade. There are sets in black and white and xy that barely had a month between them. Mostly just pointing this out because so many people keep saying now they’re putting out so many sets but they’ve typically been doing 5-6 sets annually for a long time.

I agree with both of you here. I think the number of "hits" has increased since black and white and XY, which means a few get left behind.

@@pokeoz91 Yeah, modern sets have been a bit bigger, and some have been massive, so that makes sense. Just see a lot about too many sets being released recently when it’s been like that for so long. I also think people get caught up in having to try and get everything from every set when it comes out and get burnt out from that.

"you dont know what you got till its gone" always seems that way with us humans. I have been collecting lots of TG of S and V era. love them and i think they will do well in the future

I agree that the Metagross IR is a sleeper from TF right now. A really recognizable Gen 3 pokemon with beautiful artwork. I've picked up 10 in the last couple weeks because it's trending up from a decent low. On eBay these are going for closer to $7-8 so even if you're uncertain it's a safe flip if you want to sell. Could see this card being around $10-15 in the next 12 months.

I don’t know if you’ve read the TCGPlayer by Eva’s Binder but it was very thought provoking. She speculated Pokemon intentionally makes earlier sets worse than the latter sets of the previous generation to sort of “reset our tolerances”. She reckons they do this because there is already a lot of hype when a new generation comes out. Then she says when hype dies down about half way through a generation they step up their game. I have a feeling if S&V is doing so well at the beginning they’ve got some real banger sets coming out in late 2024 and early 2025. Even sets like Temporal Forces are way better than Crimson Invasion or Darkness Ablaze.

I did see that. It was an interesting perception and probably has some merit to it. It's the biggest ip in the world, pokemon, and it didn't get that way for no reason. Experts of product and marketing!

Scarlet and Violet is now the 3rd highest grossing pokemon game of all time. When kids that are 6 to 13yrs old now grow up this era will be their Base Set. I know where my 401k money is going.

I do like a lot of the scarlet and violet cards. One thing I hope they incorporate is a Johto set with all the gen 2 Pokémon. Like when is the last Chikorita card you’ve seen? A Gen 2 set would be a fan favorite for sure

You know what I find crazy? Evolving Skies booster boxes cost more money than XY Primal Clash and XY Roaring Skies boxes 😳. This proves the fact sets are printed more today is totally irrelevant if that increased supply is negated by massive increased demand.

To add onto this. I LOVE the special illustration alt arts of the trainer cards and its been excellent to see classic fan fav trainers like Bianca and Morty get some love. Again, though, wish they had the slick texture patterns of XY/SunMoon/SwSh. It seems like they've been toning the texture down over the years.

The texture pattern is a big one when you open Bandai cards like dragonball super and one piece. The texture on those is insane!

Ozzy I pulled the Eevee Illustration Rare from TWM today and it’s a Beauty I promise! 🙏 Idk if you’ve seen it in hand yet but I think it has Magikarp potential. Especially since Eevee is WAY more popular than the karp. Plus the Eevee isn’t easy to pull either. NostalgiaNomics opened several boxes without even pulling one.

Ive graded quite a few illustration rares in psa 10 because they look so cool. Problem is, i keep selling them because the premieum is so good. Eventually ill have to start actually keeping a few. Phyduck, squirtle, and charmeleon were some of my favorites. Sad to get rid of them but when they are worth 100 or more each, its hard to justify keeping them, when I can use that money to buy 4 more to grade.

I collect Japanese cards and I have been collecting every AR made since Vstar Universe. On average I have spent 2-3AUD per card. Same art, better quality, cheaper, yes please. I don’t know if they will ever to up but at that price these cards are no brainer imo.

Oo I'm not sure about the best card in the set but the artwork is amazing and is definitely under rated for sure!

There is one card which I will make absolutely sure to have in a PSA 10 in my collection, the Deoxys Vmax from Crown Zenith. 60 bucks for this card in a PSA 10 is crazy. The artwork on it is one of a kind and all the colors and the texture.. man this card is crazy underrated!!

Obsidian flames had horrendous quality. I wouldn’t be surprised if not a single one of those 10 could get a psa 10. I gave up trying to grade obsidian IR’s. All of them I found even when hunting for the best copies had issues.

these are fun videos, but with everyone talking about undervalued cards, is anything in this hobby even undervalued? We all say it, we all read and talk about it - yet the cards are the price that they are. I think really people need to focus on what you can lose and not speculate on if a $6 card and double to $12.

I'm not a big singles collector as it is so I'm very risk adverse on what I can or can't lose. Booster Boxes before the drive up or booster boxes at below retail is where I park all the money 💰

It cracks me up when the cards of a new set are revealed and all these people are like "set is trash, next" 😂 talk about jumping the gun.
