This type of employment sounds good in theory, but these kinds of 'gig economy' jobs aren't all they're cracked up to be. The middle man gets the lion's share of the profits, but you accept all of the responsibility/risk. It's a sh*tty deal no matter how you slice it, but this is the direction we are heading in. Huge corporations take more and more of the economic gains while workers accept more and more of the responsibility/risk.

Yeah the bad thing is companies such as this, Uber, and Instacart will decrease pay over time. I wouldn’t recommend this long term.

Added responsibliity and added liability. The most expensive aspect of the delivery process is the last few miles to the destination. Business have figured out how to cut that cost drastically through gig economy. Someone else's wear and tear, insurance, maintenance etc, etc

Money is being made...but not by the driver. 32 cents a mile was the rate back in 1990.

I used to work for National Rent a car company. All i did was drive rental cars back and forth between various National Rental car locations in NYC and Newark airport. Easy money.

Judd when I tell you this is right up my alley. I have a CDL and have been driving tractor trailers for the past 16 years. This would be perfect for me. I can drive anything with wheels on it and manual transmissions is not an issue at all.

I had what I thought was a friend ask me if I would drive her car to California while she flew. Okay, sure, I'm not doing anything else right now. But then she wanted me to pay for gas, food, and motels out of my own pocket and get reimbursed after. I said no can do, I don't have the money to spend like that. So then she wanted me to borrow the money from someone. I said how about I borrow the money from you? But she wouldn't do that. She'd let me drive her $20K car, but she wouldn't give me a few thousand dollars to get it to California. Crazy. I never talked to her again.

Judd, they ask how you heard about us when your signing up. They ask for a referral code. You should contact them and get a code and let them know you have a KZread channel etc. You will probably get a kickback from anyone signing up and starting driving for them. I was gonna sign up anyway so I would have given you the referral. Just trying to help my friend. I have a small KZread channel myself and it doesn’t hurt to get something for helping people. 👍🏼

Other gigs like this where you deliver cars for auto dealers have been scams that get you to pay for background checks and then you get in a bidding war with other drivers for jobs.

This is called a transport driver. I have done this before. Most of these companies are out of north Indiana. Getting hotels, Ubers, taxis and getting back to ur house really diminishes ur profits. I have a class A cdl.

@@JuddAlbring I just spoke to Customer Support and she said you need a Medical Card for CDL which is no big deal. For those that have NO SKILLS or SPECIAL DRIVER TRAINING, they need to be in good enough health to drive. It's simple really.

I tried to sign up for this and the app isn't allowing me to create an account.

I signed up for this .. but I don't understand how it works? Do you have to get dropped off @ a location and how do you get back to your destination when you drop it off?

Yeah I can see this being a problem what if you get a car filled with drug and they using you to move it from state to another

Checked it out and noticed the 2.7 star review. Reading through most of them I noticed the same comments over and over.. "no one gets any work at all". Almost everyone stated way to many drivers were hired, and several saying they have been waiting for weeks just for something to pop up. When it did it was taken before they could hit accept.

I TBH that makes sense anyway unless you can drive a manual and larger trucks. Most dealers use hauling trailers because they are bonded for any damage and for cars you can attach a tow bar to most Uhauls.

So as a chaser, you're only getting $0.32/mi. and you're using your own vehicle, paying for your own fuel and adding wear and tear on the vehicle.

Normally the vehicle is haul on a car hauler semi truck if going like cross country now short distances this makes sense I'm a truck driver with 25 years experience last 17 years as a owner operator I have driven in all 48 states now only in the south east states I have my semi truck on with a good company I might check this out since have CDL drivers needed

I was actually looking for someone else, but this particular video got me excited! I love to drive and love to drive multiple vehicles. I'm gonna pursue this one.

I would never want to drive my own car to a destination by following someone else and then bringing them back (akin to an Uber driver I suppose). But I wouldn't mind driving a long distance and flying back. It would be a great way to see the country. But I wonder about other things such as meals, gas, hotel stays . . . do those expenses come out of my pocket or from Draiver? That could wipe out half of my earnings pretty quickly. Even such things as getting to an airport from wherever I dropped off a car would cost money.

According to parts of this video, the company would pay you to get back. As in mileage reimbursement to and fro. But whatever you need in terms of gas, etc, those expenses will be up front & out of your pocket at first. That's the corporate doctrine & how most companies would do it. You'd need to do an expense report with proof (ie reciepts & all) to get any $ back.

.32 cents per mile is criminal for the chase car job with insurance and gas. Of course you sleep in the car to cut costs eating peanut butter sandwiches every day not showering, sounds like hell on wheels to me.

don't listen to this malarkey; I've actually shuttled vehicles between dealers and from auction yards to dealers for years since I retired from my regular career; we all make about 20 cents a mile ($12/hr). Mega-dealers might, but regular dealers don't hire trucks to do this. Regular dealers who have roll-back wreckers already will send their own employee out to pick up a vehicle, if they want to keep miles off the odometer of the new inventory, not hire a 3rd-party.

Question: Are you liable if there are any illegal items/ substances left in and/ or purposely hidden in the vehicles?? You can become an unwitting "mule" for someone's illegal activity!! Boom, federal prosecution - your now jailed for 15 years!!

There are risks if you do Doordash, Instacart, Uber, Lyft all of which I've done and came out ok. Like anything, you just got to be careful and use sound judgment!! And this can be true anywhere!! $60 per hours or anything close to it is pretty good!!

Here a question, for long distance drive who pays he gas? ..logging? What about meals. If that come out of your pocket then your not making that much. That would mean that you would have to have a lot of money up front , just for gas.

You touched on how you get back but how to you get to the vehicle you will be driving? Does the chase vehicle pick you up from your home? If not, where do you store your vehicle if you have to drive to the vehicle you are delivering. Do they pay an Uber to get you there or do you just eat that cost if it's close?

One does have to either take an uber, or have a friend drop you off at the vehicle one will be arriving at to make the delivery; Dravier will only drop you back at where one started off the trip when one got in the car to be delivered.

Afterwards, I found this video and watched it in attempt to find the answer. Alas, no answer. Since then, a positive person answered the question instead of a negative nancy wasting his time just to be a smart a$$.

Note background check does not allow anyone with a DUI even a misdemeanor level. Something I think that is stupid but that’s very common for driving jobs.

Sounds appealing, but 1099 jobs suck imo. You'll pay self employment FED taxes of 15.3%, probably on a quarterly basis, plus whatever your State and possibly city wants...then at the end of the year you get to pay Income Tax.

Then you have a bad accountant. If know what you are doing, you will pay very little to no taxes.

There is something sketchy about this. I signed up in the driver app. Submitted all the info. Tried to sign into the main app but kept getting invalid password. Thinking I mistyped i just reset it. Got the reset link in email-attempted reset got error message. Got another reset link, got another error message. This morning tried to sign in and got a message that my email isn't in the system. Normally I'd just move on and forget it but it pisses me off that I entered my info in their system and they aren't even competent enough to have their log in system working properly.

Without a referral code, it wouldn't even let me sign up to find any info out. It kept saying I was missing info and the referral code is the only thing I had blank.

Their app says 18.75 an hour, we are full-time rv'res and make $1000 a month on doordash when we park in areas around larger cities.

No customer support hardly , Bad app. They dont pay you if you drive an hour to the gig and pick up wait time and then the follow driver doesnt show up. You hardly get any gigs. Some of the jobs only pay min wage. Not worth the time and hassle.

Its nice gig , but , once you deliver drop off vehicle you do have too have your own way back home or umber is correct did many CDL Penski trucks in O'Hare Airport area , but I lived in WrigleyField Lincoln Park Lakeview area near Lake Michigan, CHICAGO , here's the caught if stop working for Dravier you have to pay fee to come back to company 😮😮😮😮😮

App is pretty wonky. Can't upload required docs. You give access to your Biometrics. (No thank you) And it appears that the make you buy insurance. (I'll bet they're getting a cut of that) And the comments indicate that .32c per mile is not a good rate with your own car, gas and wear and tear. I'm going to wait to see what happens when someone actually uses this thing. See what first-hand experience looks like. I don't think this is a good idea.

Went to the website they don’t let you ask a question. I’m just wondering do they just pay the $.32 a mile that would not cover gas and it wouldn’t be worth the trip even a 2500 mile trip it’s like only $800. let me know if anyone else found out anymore if there’s an hourly rate with it.

Palm Beach County is advertising for bus drivers starting at $66K and they will train you. I am pretty sure that comes with benefits including a pension. If you can find a place to live that could be a good deal. Real Estate prices in the area are comparable to New York City and homeowners insurance is a question mark.

I do medical transport as a side hustle and I love it! This job sounds sketch. How does a person get home? My company buys me an extra commercial insurance rider too.

@@noice1983 part of it is type of vehicle you own. I have an Avalon which is perfect for a comfortable luxury ride. They also look for cheerful people. They do an extensive background check as well. I am not aware of openings right now

You need a fair amount of freeway miles with very little traffic to make any money

I drove for Draiver. Its not 60 an hour. Its less then 20 an hour and you have to pay taxes and gas on that. Its a terrible company never trust them. Dont drive for them

Why not just higher a vehicle transport company / hot shot ? Saves fuel and mileage on your vehicle

I am getting close retirement so this looks like a good job for a retired person to just supplement their Social Security or retirement income. Any retirees here doing this?

The Driveaway Service is similar to that. I used to used them is I didn’t have a car and had to get from NY to Florida. The car’s owner wanted to fly, the boot was full of his luggage but the back seat was free for mine. It didn’t pay me but it only cost me $50 I think. And they’d give you a couple of extra days to get there. 🇦🇺

My husband just filled out Draiver's application for CDL work. They required he submit his BANK ROUTING AND ACCOUNT NUMBER and photos of his insurance information, CDL license, and his DOT healthcard and then told him they weren't hiring in our area. Fine, I can see that they would want to run his information in relation to driving, but his bank account information (they said it was for direct deposit) and then to be told they weren't hiring? Disgusting.
