Early Winter Fishing at Chesil Beach: RESULT!

Ойын-сауық

The wind is blowing offshore. It's cold but Graeme joins other beach fishermen as they brave the elements to try and catch a fish or two. He finds a stretch of beach on his own and using his trusty 2-hook rig gets some great action. He fishes into the hours of darkness in the hope of getting a lunker... but will the Totally Awesome camera's be rolling? Will he have enough bait? Does he have enough tins of Spag Bol to go through the night??? Watch the episode to find out...

@@TAFishing But Graeme their is still room for you on tv and with all the extra help you could do a lot of traveling and fishing as you have done in the past, all over the globe. You would still have your freedom, just don't let it go to your head. Sure would like to see you fishing for big sharks like the great white around australia. You could still have ta fishing on here. With your personality and expertise the tv program would be an instant success as long as you are in complete control of the show, maybe with Mike as an advisor or something. The main thing in tv is having complete control of what is to be filmed and what is not. Keep some of your antics with Smith and Mabel along with Ted and the gang. I was just wondering if anyone in the business had ever contacted you. A tv show would be able to give us much more than you can produce on your own. Here in the states I have watched various fishing programs usually put on by one man. In Panama City Fl. their used to be a show called the Red Holland show where he had guest as well as took us fishing with us. Many times he would be by himself showing you can catch fish anywhere. He had one show where people said they couldn't catch anything from the local pier so he went and sat on the pier with his fishing stuff and caught flounder after flounder. But this was around 2013 I believe. In the south we love our fishing. Can't get around these days to do much of it so I watch you. I just delete all the others because I know they will just try and sell us something every ten minutes. I have purchased t shirts from ta fishing, but it just hangs on a hangar in my office where I sit and watch the tv as well as youtube. Again I'd like to say that your programs really make me feel better. I have not seen you fishing with Wayne much in the last year. You make a great pair of fishermen. I know you say your program is for beginners but anyone that wants to be entertained should watch.

I don't even have a TV. My kids don't watch TV, it's all about the YooToobs and the like for all of us and our various interests. Best thing TV ever did for us was producing classic comedy decades ago that we now watch on DVD or online. Tight lines.

Use to love fishing on Chesil Beach, best 22 miles of English channel beach going, one end its large pebbles while the other end is small pebbles, use to fish the Abbotsbury part near Fleet (where the book moonfleet is mention) right on the edge of the swannery we use to set up camp stay the weekend, go swimming at low water if its late summer. the old tilly lamp was very handy, you could boil up a kettle on it, not been to Chesil beach since the early 70s. maybe I go back one day

I think the tip for fishing Chesil is don't stay near the car parks because most people stay there as I've learnt from my past on Chesil. Only a flounder but this was near the car park at Abbotsbury. Seen plenty of mackerel caught and see a small shark move into the area so all the mackerel got scared off.

Its the dropoff area at low water that is the danger. The constant waves have scoured out a deep edge and once you got washed into it you would have big problems.Plus the tidal flow laterally along the shore . Always have respect for the ocean....there is only one winner.

In the years when big Cod were around it was standard practice to put out a small baited hook with an unbaited large hook next to it. You would hook Whiting and leave it out there for a big Cod,which came along which then scoffed the lot. If you tried to cast a Whiting out 80 yards it wouldn't be too lively by the time it got to the seabed. Better to hook them out deep and leave them there. Don't think many anglers use this technique with so few Cod around now.

Hi Graham loving the channel I have a DJI Mavic drone and I am thinking of rigging it up for throwing the bait out further is this something you would consider on trying i’ve been watching some videos with the Ozzy throw them out using kites with about 50 hooks on the line A bit overkill I know for the UK but the further out the deeper it must get where the big boys hang out your opinion would be appreciated regards Wayne

Not sure where the sport fishing stops and the commercial fishing begins but no doubt it does open up another dimension of fishing,so has to be worth a try.
