Congrats on a great day! I haven't caught anything so far this year, so I'm definitely jealous! The closest lake to me had a draining issue last year and it's super low, like 4ft deep right now and they're still pumping water into it. Two of my go-to ponds also got really low the last year so they're nothing but weeds so far. The next lake is about 45 min drive so I can only get there on the weekends but it got taken over by asian carp and gar so fishing there is pretty slow. Probably have to broaden my horizons and get to some places that are like 1.5-2 hours away maybe. Unfortunate circumstances this year sadly.

That’s a bummer man, but like you said it’s a situation which forces you to broaden your horizons. Some of my best days and memories on the water are from exploring unfamiliar water bodies.

surprised that Bass fishing is closed so long in Minnesota, I am pretty sure Virginia where I am is open year round.
