Because you updated the firmware, your phone will no longer recognize the speaker. As another comment mentioned, delete the old connection and pair with the updated firmware speaker.

5:35 If anyone has this issue, just press the "i" next to the old paired Uboom, click Forget device and then connect with the newly found speaker (from the bottom). I think this should fix it.

Will this update work with the previous UBOOM? If not the Wavelet app is a great exception. You can turn on the Limiter and increase the gain control. Then go to the Graphic Equalizer and manually make your adjustments. But I must say that the update made that UBOOM L sound amazing.

How does it compare to a B&O A1? Until now I haven’t heard anything within the same weight class that matches it in terms of playing like a big speaker.

Hi, I'm spreading the word here to those with trouble upgrading the firmware: mine didn't work with a USB-C 2.0 cable, it must be 3.0 or with a 3.0 adapter. Hope this helps. Great review btw.

Earfun uboom L with the new firmware looks more detailed but with less bass and treble ... am I wrong? However a great speaker and I would like to understand with 2 ubooms it is worth it compared to speakers under 150 dollars ...

Should not be that hard. Check Oluv's page and go to the 'community' tab. He has a Google drive link to the tool now instead of sending everyone that that one link which no IT person wants you to land on. Windows does consider this to be a tool that can harm devices so if you download it... in the bar below it might say harmful.(Chrome) but with that 'arrow' you can select 'keep'. I've scanned it with Sophos and it shows free, but in the hands of 'amateurs' it can do harm when you flash something which you don't want to flash. And the bluetooth issue. Well I think you clear out the eeprom when updating which also stores the connections (not 100% sure of that). So remove the connection to that speaker on your phone and restart pairing. Should work like if you take a speaker out of the box. To bad, but I believe he is on holiday, that he doesn't spend 10 minutes on showing how to do that. I think a whole lot of people are frustrated now, especially the Mac users.

I'm watching this with Uboom L latest 0.4.5 firmware. 😬 just got this speaker 2 days ago. I think the latest firmware a lot better, 0.4. 3 firmware is too bright for my taste.

which one is better after the update or not?

Once you get used to the sound you adapt to it. How does one with trained ears avoid it, maybe you listen less because you know it's wrong so your ears never adapt.

Wish I could get my Nokta legend to update, says error invalid port, but tried all ports and even a different computer, i gave up for a while trying.

Moin. Also zu meiner Erfahrung bzgl. Update. Ich habe einfach die Firmware von der Homepage runtergeladen und bin der Anleitung dort gefolgt. Von Auspacken des USB-Kabels bis zum Update hat das ganze keine 5 Minuten gedauert. In der Anleitung steht auch extra drin, dass man die Earfun neu connecten muss. Warum das bei dir nicht auf Anhieb geklappt hat: Du hast immer zuerst wieder versucht auf die „alte“ Verbindung zu connecten. Wärst du der Anleitung gefolgt und hättest direkt die „neu erscheinenden“ Earfuns ausgewählt hätte alles auf Anhieb funktioniert. War zumindest bei mir so. Eine Frage hab ich noch: Weißt du zufällig ob die Firmware auf der Homepage identisch mit der von Oluv ist?

Obviously not, at the time the Motion+ was the best around. Then he had a chance to improve on it by making his own tuning. He found to his ears he could do better than Motion+ It will be interesting to see with time if another speaker can beat this the uboom L 😀

@@johndoe-vc1we I own the Motion+, and now also the UBoom. Just as shown in one of Oluv's videos comparing the two, the Motion+ is all about "boom" and "sizzle". Details are nothing compared with the UBoom, which I far prefer. Will be selling my Motion+.

@@scottbecker3485 thing is I never thought of the Motion+ as having any boom. That is what the Motion Boom is for. I take it you have updated the firmware. Some people find the treble too sharp in outdoors mode above 40% volume. Indoors is fine.

@@johndoe-vc1we You mean the Motion+ doesn't seem to having any "boom" for you? I suppose I'm using the term differently from you. For me, it means the speaker has a rather falsified mid-bass and bass (not necessarily a deep one) at the expense of clarity and transparency in the mids. If you've watched other videos by Oluv, you'd know he stated the same thing. As for the the firmware update, I suppose you are referring to the UBoom, right? I'm going to update the firmware as soon as I can source a data-capable USB A to C cable. From all the videos I've seen so far (not only by Oluv), the update is going to make the speaker even more appealing to me. :-)

Earfun really shot Oluv in the foot with this whole firmware debacle.

Can you only do this with a laptop?

Sharing my own encounters while updating this firmware : 1) A usb-c to usb-c cable wasn't able to work for me. Had to use a usb-a to usb-c cable then it's able to connect. 2) the firmware flashing failed multiple times. Decided to download the firmware again, and the flashing was successful. 3) after the firmware update, also unable to bluetooth connect to my phone. Had to forget the original bluetooth connection and re-pair the speaker it once more. Result. I find the upper frequencies to be smoother, not as harsh as before update. I also found out, if the speaker is in off mode while charging, I cannot power on the speaker. I had to stop charging then I'm able to power on. Overall, I still find the speakers rather bright. I still have to lower the upper frequencies. I listen to 80s pop, so maybe such songs cannot have bright speaker settings.

No, jbl charge 5 is more powerful, heavy bass, and better in low volume, uearfun is flat sound but limited it miss bass, 2 earfun will be more powerful charge 5 but bass is king, hope it help👍

Charge 5 is more louder and has more bass. This one is more neutral and cleaner but not by much, I think.

@@relinquishv actually on high volume the earfun got more bass than the charge 5. Because the earfun doesn’t reduce its bass. While the charge 5 starts losing bass at 60 procent after that the treble becomes just harsh

@@superpas3 Actually not. Nobody said what you say, look at some reviews. I have the charge 5, the ND model, and it lose some bass at 80%. Do you have any of this? Btw, most of the reviewer's use the TL model which is the one with the low bass. The earfun has less bas from the start, it's just smaller, and it reduces it at 60% indoor mode and at 80% outdoor. But keep in mind, bass is lower at whatever volume you want no matter what you do. I like the clarify of uboom but i can't live without that deep bass from charge. PS. The treble is not harsh at all on charge 5, I repeat, I have one, i used it at max volume a lot of time, outdoor. Take some high quality headsets and listen to reviewer's comparison. Your comment is pretty random tbh.

@@relinquishv my comment is pretty random? Sorry but I own a charge 5, it’s a fact that it become harsh sounding after 60 procent. All JBL speakers are doing that. And probably your understanding of deep bass is different than mine. It doesn’t play lower than 60hz. Maybe you should take some high quality headphones and listen to reviews. For instance from Oluvgadgets. Thank me later

Same with the Earfuns Ubooms that i have here, many bluetooth issues better pay a bit more cash and dont have this cheap problems. Thats why i dont buy the Earfun new Sony series will come soon hope they will be a bit better than the lasts.

The only reason he had a problem with the Bluetooth in video, you’re suppose to forget the device after the firmware update. In his initial video he paired easily out of the box. There is a firmware update for the “original” Uboom’s on the Earfun website. I’m running that update and never had any Bluetooth issues here.

Ok I did it you have to hold the Bluetooth button when you connect, check version before anything press bt n power together will say 045 then after update steps do that again will say 050

Have to make sure you read the zip files carefully, one was 4.8 and one was 5.0 , I've just put 4.8 on after reading this, oluv said all the versions are pretty much the same apart from 5.0, 4.8 has the crackling on video mode fixed apparently will try it soon 👍

15:59 you don't know what you're talking about. Between JBL Flip 4 is a distorted speaker with dips & peaks all over the frequency response. You said its sweet but in the real world its bogus for today's standards. Even the Tribit XSound Go which is a $30 speaker arguably has better vocal quality than that.

Digital Philosophy you are wrong the Flip 4 has a peak in the upper mids (1-2 kHz region) which makes the vocal stand out from the rest of the track as distorted and because you've never heard a better bluetooth speaker that produces higher quality upper mids you can't point out the flaws. But for someone with very trained ears like me the vocals are harsh enough to cause ear fatigue in fact I myself had the same speaker before and I've already sold it because of the ear piercing sound.

@@johndoe-vc1we someone with trained ears will criticize any sound if there's really a con. To me it the speaker has a high end lift and the bass tends to distorts at higher levels. No bt speakers are really perfect imo.
