    It's funny you said in the other video that the Kefs are better from home listening, wheras the Tuks are better for musical analysis on your desktop, but then the majority of people preferred the B/Tuk! IM totally torn between the Tuks and the LSX II LT's.

    What do you mean when you say the new model jet 6 is more analytical? I'm trying to decide between the solano bs283 and bs283.2, unfortunately I didn't have the chance to listen to the new model with the jet 6 but I listened to the old jet 5 model and I really liked the warm sound and the kicking mid-range, should I expect something completely different in the new model?

    Unfortunately I didn’t listen to any Solano yet. The first Vela sounds a little bit warmer than the new one. On the other hand the new one is a little bit more revealing than the old one which makes sense. In the end it is up to your taste

    You are not wrong on the specs for the 581A as far as the CA website. Although, Cambridge Audio's specs are on the modest side. The 851A has been lab tested and actually puts out 136.5 Watts into 8 Ohms per side, and 226 Watts into 4 Ohms from 20 Hz to 20000 Hz. I really like audio companies that do not inflate their performance bench test numbers. It shows class on Cambridge Audio's part. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

    I've been listening to my Creek Evolution 100p amp w/my Schiit Freya+ with Sophia 6SN7 valves, combined with a Bifrost DAC for about a year now. That combo puts forth a wide and diffuse soundstage with all my different speakers. I have been very happy with the sound thus far, and just 2 days ago I had a great deal on a CA Azur 851A fall into my lap, so I jumped on it. This integrated is like brand new, even the remote and paperwork. Minty! Anyways, I am enjoying the 851A for its directness, PRAT, and very deep bass capabilities. It also projects a decent soundstage, but with less depth than my Creek/Freya+ combo though. Valves are hard to beat in that dept. It is nice to have a change of pace once in a while. So I have decided that I will be keeping all the above components for different types of music listening. Orchestral on valves, and Rock and Pop on the 851A. Finally, I can have my cake and eat it! Thank you for the comparo. Cheers!

  • @DigitalPhilosophers
    @DigitalPhilosophers29 күн бұрын

    Both are not soft the way I would use the term soft. The SA20 sound lusher with a warmer tone. The SV-500 is an easier recommendation since it is more refined/balanced throughout the frequencies with a wonderful midrange presentation. It is really up to your speakers and taste.

    After 15 years of honored service, I'm decommissioning my X-230 set from my PC desk for a pair of Edifier R1280DB (which I must admit win in almost every case, unless the sub is heavily needed since these Edifier don't have one), but I'm _NOT_ selling my beloved Logitech speakers (still have their original box). I'll definitely re-purpose them somewhere else, too good of a sound for their price. I paid them 40€ in 2008 after a listening test I was able to do in a mega-store, where the X-230 blew every other PC set in and above their price range they had in the store.

I have the IA-4 in the basement on my second system. My search is over, i will never own another amp other than these. I've owned an Azur 851A and several other Cambridge pieces over the years. When they're working they're very good. The problem is that they're unreliable and difficult to get repaired. Cambridge is part of The Audio Partnership. Julian Richer, of Richer Sounds, bought up a lot of reputable brand names that had gone bust. He then put the brand names on equipment made cheaply in the far East. If you look at the 851A it has flimsy fibreglass boards which flex with speaker vibration. The solder cracks and you get faults. Richer won't release circuit diagrams or any service manuals, insisting that you send units to their Salford depot. Once there, their guys just want to replace whole boards rather than identify failed resistors, coils or capacitors etc. A cheap component causes a massive repair cost.
