Do you have any tips on how to do this with the dowel base?

Great video. I suspect the heat gun isn’t on high, but what temperature are you using to soften the epoxy but not cook the fibreglass?

Unfortunately I never measured the temperature, it is a LEISTER heat-gun, it goes up to 700°C. Just start with low temperature and go step by step higher.

Hi! Thanx for the tutorial. I got 2 question: 1. In the set with four shock mounts I purchased was both a tiny bag with yellow and one with black powder. What is the black powder for and how is it used? 2. In the video it seems as the last 2 mounts are glued without the base being mounted. Is that so? Thanx again and regards, Uwe

Hello Uwe, 1. It is for coloring the glue because it is transparent. Originally it was mustard or black. A detail for nerds. Please use sparingly! 2. The point is to get the shock mounts to the correct place, so these details are on your skills.

Hi, so my chair was the kind that was upholstered, so my base has holes drilled into it and came with the stacking base that you can hook in a row for auditorium type seating. Can I convert this seat into an Eiffel base? And what do I do about the holes?

I've some shock mounts coming loose of my recently bought DCM chairs (second hand). What kind of glue should I buy to make the repair? Also the veneer of the plywood delaminates a little bit, can I use the same glue for this?

Hi, unfortunately it is not possible to re-glue old shock mounts, because usually not the old glue is the reason, but dried up neoprene, which will lose the next layer. New neoprene shock mounts are glued with 2-compound glue, or superglue (some work better, other not). I don't know which glue to use with cheap polyurethane fake shock mounts.

I purchased 3 sets of these shock mount adhesive kits. Each set was supposed to come with the ivory coloured powder. I only received 2 tiny packets of colour- and one was black. So out of the 3 sets I ordered, I was provided only one envelope of colour I can actually use. I contacted Design-Restoration and they said for environmental reasons, they placed all of the ivory pigment into one envelope. Judging by the video they posted on KZread, I will not have enough pigment for my 12 shock mounts. I was ripped off.

As I have already explained to you in several emails today, we send enough dye for the quantity of glue purchased. If you use too much dye, the glue will not stick proper. It looks little, but it was enough a thousand times we sold the set, so it will be enough for you too. But to get peace, I'll tell our shipping staff to send you a teaspoon full of the pigment tomorrow. If the glue not works then, and the shock mounts come off, we are not responsible, but you!

I need to know how to do the same thing with one of the polypropylene Eames DSR chairs. The original molded nub with a threaded hole in it, broke off.

I’ve got the Eames wood style chair and the shock mounts have broken so the back rest is no longer attached. How would I remove the old mounts; they’re not level to the wood like these are to the fibreglass ones?

If I was going to recondition the body of the chair: should I recondition and then install the shock mounts, or install shock mounts and then recondition?
