Many thanks for this - saved me a ton of work in trying to work out what to do! Few little differences that I found - car is a 2011 325i - we are in the UK, so car is right hand drive. I have a push button start, but I was able to remove the gear knob with no issues. When I removed the gaiter there was no cable plugged in - so that made it much easier. To remove the console, I used some plastic trim removal tools. Started gently at one side and worked my way slowly up and down. Gentle pull and this came up - again no issues. I only unplugged the wires that were connected into the switch itself - left everything else in place. Then I unplugged the switch cable when the switch was out. T20 Torx tool to remove and replace screws. Gently eased console back into place and then needed a few harder 'bangs' with the edge of my hand to fully relocate the console. Whole job took about 15 mins from start to finish and that was with me taking it slowly to avoid any breaking of clips etc.

Thank you for this instruction. We hoped it would work on a 2008 328i e90, but it does not. My vehicle will not allow me to turn the engine off unless it is in park. Any suggestions or has anyone else replaced the hard top convertible switch on this model?

Why would you lay more for an oem switch when the oem switch is what originally prematurely failed?

Would these instructiins apply to a 328i ?

What was wrong with the switch? I am having an issue with mine...the button doesn’t push down to put the top down. I had to use the remote to open the top. The switch works to put it down though.

My 335i e93 has a push button start button ... you say to turn on the car and put it in dri mve and turn car off ... my car won't turn off when car is in drive ... what shd i do? can i replace the switch with car in park?
