E65 Tiny Home in a Greenhouse | A week in the spring greenhouse life

What’s it like to actually live inside a greenhouse? This is my first spring so I’m learning how to adjust for heat, sun, and humidity.
Live In A Greenhouse, the blog, goes into more detail of aspects of the project that are unique to a house inside a greenhouse: www.LiveInAGreenhouse.com Or, Facebook and Instagram for frequent updates.

Good morning, Shawn. A day late visiting you, I am visiting my son in Tennessee. Early morning here in Tennessee and no one is up accept my husband and I. Early morning outside on the patio watching my friends 'Tiny Home Greenhouse' living video. Thank you for the tour. Working full time and finishing up your home keeps you so very busy. Wasn't it a great feeling to be planting your veggies and greens? Makes your heart smile. I look forward to seeing your gardens mature. Nice that you had help filling all those beds. Looking good. I like the free wire grid trellis. The 'sail' shade is a great idea. Foxgloves blooming add so much color to your natural landscape. The fawn and mama feel safe in your paradise. Peach tree looks hopeful and the spider plant looks good there on your desk, at least until it gets too big. Take care and be healthy.

You might enjoy reading about Bucky Fuller's floating houses, mooring in different spots as the seasons change.

I didn't know about Bucky Fuller and floating houses. Thanks for the tip! I will definitely look into that.

Run two cables add the clips about every foot on the sunshade clipped on to the cables then in the winter you could slide it back. us a 8 ft pc of pvc pipe just to push it along the cables. Like the found metal trellis. love zip ties- that how I secure my cattle fence panels into a trellis A frame. At the end of the season just snip them and put in storage. Even for building a tomato cage with sticks. noticed not great for long term.

I like that clip-to-cable idea. Especially since there are already 2 cables in place. This year I'll use the standard round metal tomato cages since I picked up a few free and bamboo teepees for the climbing beans since I can get bamboo from my sisters yard. Hopefully over the winter, when I have more time for projects, I want to build an arbor over the path in the food garden so vines can grow on that and make some shade in the summer. Also my son will weld a rebar obelisk as a more permanent and attractive support for beans or something. I've seen melons grown vertically by putting slings around the melons. I might try watermelon on the rebar obelisk or hanging from the 4' purlin. So many ideas, so little time!

@@liveinagreenhouse I love the idea of some iron sculptures. Beautiful and functional.

Do you intend to put up screen doors in the greenhouse itself to keep out bugs? Got to use your putting bench! And got help with dirt too. Gloriouss.

I love having the potting bench with it organized enough that I can actually use it. Everything I need is right at hand. I've thought about screens on the doors but probably won't do that for a few reasons - the bugs really aren't that bad inside; like I don't even notice mosquitoes or flies that make evening outside unbearable. It would be difficult to put a double width screen on the west double doors, and the next evolution of the ventilation system will alleviate the need to have the doors open for make up air (although that may be next year).

    @@liveinagreenhouse And natural pollination?

All the fruit trees I got are self-pollinating. Not sure about the flowers. I've thought about mason bees if it turns out that I need to add pollinators. But I haven't actually read up much about pollinators in the greenhouse yet.
