E3D`s Revo™ Upgrade meets Anycubic Vyper/Kobra Max 3D-Printer! Review, Tutorial and PLA-Giveaway

Ғылым және технология

Re-Upload due some Musicskips in previous Video
Hello guys!
After encountering a few issues with multiple nozzlechanges and strange issues with a few filaments, i wanted to get rid of those issues by an upgrade - since dozens of hours of tweaking settings didn`t lead to desired results.
Then i came across this Revo-hotend with its unique feature i will show in the video very closely and i was very surprised how much this thing was worth the try!
Showing the BIG advantages, testing different filaments, presenting testprints and guiding you through the simple installation process are the topics i wanted to share with you in my first youtube-project!
One of my subscribers gets the chance to win 1KG free PLA and more giveaways are on my list for future videos to appreciate your support!
This is my first ever recorded video and also my first time trying to record myself speaking english - would be super happy about your feedback in the comment section!
THANK YOU for being here!

    Thank you for your Video. It was super helpful. I changed things up a tad. and sacrificed the Thermistor and Heater Cartridge cut off their wires and soldered them onto the wires of the Revo. Shrink wrapped them. Then I took the screws from the heater block and used them to connect the two pieces of the hotend adapter. screwed right into the holes and were the perfect size. then. I just screwed the screws from the hot end holder into the top of the adapter and it held about as tight as possible. Its an absolutely great improvment. I'd been having problems with the stock hot end.

  • @tombeardy4833

    @tombeardy4833

    Жыл бұрын

    It needs a bit more tweaking beacause the volcano is pretty "leaking" due the high melting capability which is a bit too high imo. Thats why many ppl encoubter stringing and oozing and unclear seems. If you raise the temp a bit printing up to 120mm/s for bottom layers works pretty good still with the Revo :-) At least you wont loose speed while increasing quality - at least thats what happend in my case😊 Small parts i normally print with 30mm/s outer and 45mm/s inner walls and 60mm/s infill :) Very small things smaller for sure and big parts...like REALY big parts 60 outer, 75 inner and 80-90 infill. But since thats a bit noisy with the steppers i keep a bit under those values mostly :) Otherwise my girlfriend hates me👀😄

I'm looking for a large build volume option for being able to print high-temperature plastics, glass/carbon nylon etc. For engine intake components is this printer with this upgrade a good option for that? It seems like a very cheap option at least! right now i use a duplicator 4 printing in ABS and don't have the hot end temperature or build volume for what i'm looking for :/ 3. Thx! Those cables are includes in every Revo-Six unit. They are simply adapters to be used if you need them way longer to connect them all the way down to the mainboard for example. In the Video - like i mentioned -they should just be cutted at around 5cm or so and then used :) The reason for not cutting and adapting the JSTs to the Revos maincable is 1st Warranty and also some ppl got issues with those cables getting crimped :) Yeah looks absolutely the same to me :) Maybe a bit less space for the cables to be installed but should still work fine

    Hi Dimitris! Yep as always if you change anything hotend or extruderwise you should check them. I was able to lower retract to 2.5mm distance at 40mm/s when i needed around 5mm at the same speed with the stock hotend :-) Flow was the same for me - just the temperature needs to be increased since the stock vypertermistor shows around 10-15 degrees less and the revo is pretty spot on :) Before i printed fast things (70mm/s) with 205 and now with 220 :) But nothing major - more important is the at the end of the video shown PID-tuning :) Hope that helps!

Will a stock power supply be able to handle the additional power required for this hotend? 2. Did you have to modify the printer firmware to properly accommodate the Revo Six hot end thermistor? The Kobra Max stock firmware with stock hot end has the wrong thermistor defined in the firmware source. This results in hot end temperature being about 18% higher than the display reading. For the Revo Six hot end sensor line number 442 of Configuration.h (in Marlin folder) needs to be changed as follows : #define TEMP_SENSOR_0 5 //11 for stock KM hotend. 5 for Revo Six Note that I have not yet verified this as my Revo Six is still in transit. But correcting the thermistor define in the firmware source corrected the 18% temp error with the stock hot end.

    revo is good replacement for ur normal v6 hotends but vyper and kobra utilize volcano...in theory and with fine tuning it can do 120-180mm/s printing and whit bimetal heatbreak and for example CRT nozzle u can pump that up in theory even more and allowe printing those high temp and corrosive materials ( ofc in vyper and kobra...speed is pretty much limited by its software it has...still not opensource for its marlin files...anycubic said its in plan for future but who knows) revos easy to use its god damn nice and planning to build quick swap between both of those 2 for kobra max when its arrives for different usecases :) heating up volcano will take lot longer cause its heating area is larger making it better for fast prints that way too

  • @tombeardy4833

    @tombeardy4833

    Жыл бұрын

    Absolutely. But i came ro the conclusion (for myself lol) that this high melting capacity of Volcanos are simply too much for a slow printer esp if theres no LA/PA so printing smaller things or detailed stuff with above like 80-100 is nearly impossible to get without ringing, or detailloss or anything. If you flash with klipper thats an entire different story for sure :) But if you go like 30-50mm/s i think that early filamentmelting may be the cause why you need more retract and so on

    Hi Don! For sure you need to re-adjust the offset - either manually which could be risky haha or simply relevel. There are certain nozzlesizes that show a bit of an difference - E3D also showed that info on their website somewhere. I had to lower the z-offset by 0.2 if i use 0.25 or the 0.15 nozzle. 0.4 and 0.6 use the same offset :) So to jump on the safe side i just went through one quick testprint each (only firstlayer) and noted/reminded the offset :-) Hope that answeres your question! i got a full stock kobra max looking to do this upgrade. Did you notice any reduced speeds with this upgrade, i have things set at default (still new) at 80mm, will i still be able to keep speeds or with this not being a volcano will it slow everything down? Other thing i was curious bout they got a 60w high flow hotside which im guessing increases flow rate. Idk much bout it, and advice on both these be appreciated.

    Neither me or many others i am in touch experienced this. I have also heard of that but it didnt depends on the printer it was used at. Maybe a production or wire issue...or a bad batch of thernistors. I have no clue but after over 500 printinghours with the revo - and others using it for even 6 months now, never had one single issue :)

    Hey, I'm looking to get the Revo and also upgrade to the Stealthburner print head with it. Do you know if the grove mount adapter of the Revo Six can be removed and then mounted with screws from the top, similar to the Rapido or Dragon hotends?

    @Tom Beardy Yes that's true, I just wanted to be able to also mount it on the stock mount (I'm still waiting on a PCB I need for the Stealthburner upgrade, and it might take a while to get here). But I went for the Voron edition and found an adapter for the Vyper mount. I'm currently in the process of upgrading, and it should work fine.

    @Tom Beardy Works great so far with the custom cooling shroud! One of the big print quality improvements I noticed are much cleaner extruded lines. With the stock hotend, the extruded lines were fuzzy and did not have clean edges, though I assume the cheap and semi-cheap nozzles I used are at fault there. And the nozzle changes are soo much more convenient. Now it's just more waiting for the PCB to arrive to upgrade to the Stealthburner with a bltouch :)

    @@ProfessorPolygon Definetly! I think the first comparisson at the "intro" tells a good story. With the stock one you can/may always encounter a bit of rougher surfaces depending on the filament. And the mate ones showed the BIGGEST improvement i could imagine. At others line 3d-jakes Pla, the difference was less in the pure surfacequality but also in way less stringing which is also an improvement for sure. So depending on the filament you might notice smaller improvements than at others but still improvements for sure in my opinion!
