    I just love Percy. He is the perfect example of the difference between inteligence and wisdom. Inteligence means he can make a dope trap out of silverware, wisdom means he does not know he should not demonstrate it on himself :D Oh and u should not be diguested by what Scanlan and Vax did. Umbrasyl is an ancient dragon. At his age he needs a colonoscopy here and there. And they just gave him one for free !!!

    Percy had his more lighthearted moments in the campaign, like when the party was ambushed in the middle of the night and he went into battle in his longjohns, making a point to explain that the butt-flap was down...

    In the campaign, Scanlan used Dimension Door to teleport himself and Vax inside Umbrasyl. Technically, Rules as Written, you can't teleport to a place already occupied by a creature, but Matt followed the Rule of Cool here (hence the Scanlan: "I didn't think this would work", Vax: "It really shouldn't have"). Also, teleportation magic was hard to give narrative explanation and weight, so it seems that's just not part of Scanlan's repertoire in the animated series, although they gave it a nod with the Potion in the Season 1 Scanbo episode.

    I feel Scanlan mentioning Burt just before the opening credits was a nod to Burt Reynolds esquire, Attorney at Small. A fake identity that Scanlan occasionally used in the campaign.

    When I heard Scanlan drop "Bert" at the end of his listing of potential moms for Kaylie, I laughed so hard. Besides demonstrating his varied tastes in partners, it's a references for those of us who saw campaign one and know the tale of Bert Reynolds, esquire. I understand that they couldn't use that name, for copyright reasons, but I love seeing a nod to it, *especially* a nod that is as equally weird as when Bert appeared in-campaign.

    As someone familiar with the full campaign, I absolutely adore that you put in the clips from the campaign to provide comparison and context to the show. Thank you so much. The reactions are also great, I both can't wait for the next one, but also can because it's the end... until next year.

    Ripley never approached Umbrasyl, hence he never tracked VM down, took Mythcarver or killed the sphinx. We didn't see her again until her big showdown. This is part of that whole, 'show more of the villains' thing that they can't do in the game. It keeps her fresh in our minds that she's still a threat... and she *is* a great villain. Come to think of it, since she wasn't spying on VM through her gun (that Percy is now using), she may have found the vestiges she originally obtained because of Mythcarver... They originally dimension doored into the dragon and used an immovable rod, but this was far more entertaining.

    *Potential Season 3 Spoilers* In terms of a next season, dealing with the dragons will probably go much faster since there is less vestige searching going on. The Ripley showdown gives them Cabal's Ruin (Percy's vestige) and Whisper (Vax's OTHER vestige), the fight against Vorugal gives them The Melora staff (Keyleth's vestige) from the demon Scanlan summons, and the Dawnmarty Armor (Pike's vestige) is the only one they actually need to travel for making it the only one that really requires its own mini arc. So assuming 2-3 episodes for the dawnmartyr armor, 1-2 episodes for the non-Thordak fights, and then an epic 3 part Thordak fight with 1 episode for leadup and 2 episodes of the actual fight, that adds up to the 12 episodes we would expect with a little wiggle room for other things happening. AKA it is entirely possible to pack the rest of this arc into one season.

    I didn’t remember Umbrasyl having Greater Invisibility at all, but like you said it makes sense ancient dragons are spellcasters. I feel it also makes a great introduction for people watching the show who may not be aware of that feature. Umbrasyl has that one magic spell he did, so the viewer will more easily understand and accept Raishan’s level of magic ability later.

    Scanlan and Vax in the campaign teleported into Umbrasyl. As shown in the comparison. Though, it doesn't go smoothly as Matt either forced Sam to roll knowledge for anatomy of a dragon, or kinda just hated the plan. They were teleported not into his stomach, but originally a membrane which they had to cut out of, INTO his stomach, which started filling with acid. For TV this new Thanus idea makes sense but is not as intense as how it truly went down

    A contrast I always find interesting, when watching reactors, is how quickly folks handwave Grog's past life of murder vs Scanlan's past life of... sleeping with people? Like, one of these things is not like the other. I love Grog too, but... I dunno, feels and thoughts and stuff? *waves hands inarticulately * it's just interesting to see the contrast in so many reactions. If you forgive Grog, then I don't see how you can justify calling Scanlan a terrible person. Also, Kaylie has EVERY right to be angry that her mother was left alone, but if we're comparing crimes here, luring someone to a room, tying them to a bed, and threatening to murder them, seems disproportionate when compared to ... sleeping with someone, moving on, and forgetting their name? Maybe I'M a terrible person for thinking that, this is entirely possible, but it just always makes me think thinky thoughts.

  • @janehundson2973

    @janehundson2973

    8 ай бұрын

    I agree with you. But I understand why Kaylie did that. She has every reason to be angry. I think the problem here is that Scanlan made promises to Kaylie's mother and then just disappear. I just don't understand how Scanlan is seen as a bad person just because he likes to sleep around. It's not like he goes around to rape people, it's actually very respectful. He's single and has no family to take care of (at least, before meeting Kaylie). I mean, Grog likes to kill, Vax and Vex steal, yet the audience has problems with Scanlan 😅

  • @janehundson2973

    @janehundson2973

    4 ай бұрын

    Yeah, I agree. I think that in Scanlan's case the problem is that he didn't use protections. And that he apparently lied to Sybil. Sleeping with people is a choice, not a crime. For people who want to find true love (like Scanlan) *may* not the right choice, but nevertheless one shouldn't be judged for that. And it's not like the people he sleeps with aren't agreeing with him or are raped by him. They actually chose to sleep with him. 🤷
