If Ludinus is part of the society of prime, he could view what the gods did as a total betrayal

So many layers of complexity just piled on top of each other this episode, but I think the 'philosophical debate' between SALAHA and Emhira in the bar was my favorite. Also the moment where Laura as Emhira goes full Raven Queen...that was epic. I feel like nobody in the CR cast does low-key sinister and dark quite like Laura Bailey.

I think Ludinus could have been a wizard prodigy and may have been a part of the Society of Prime. I am also wondering if we will see how the preservation bubbles came to be. They might be for those who had faith in the gods?

I started playing DnD in 1982 and back then you never talked about the game DnD unless you have already dropped many, many hints about liking dragons, elves, dwarves, goblins, orcs or other supernatual. You played in a close net group of only 3 or 4 people that took the time to understand each other. At that time it was mostly a hack & slash, dungeon crawl. We just had the basic rules, character sheets, graph paper and the dice you bought each individually. Role playing was far, few, and in-between, but it did happen in a smaller amount of groups that were very hard to find. We mostly stuck with each other and never talked about it to anyone else unless you dropped countless hints and felt safe enough to open that bridge to someone new. In the 2000's it begin to open up and became a ttrpg, the fear of it was mostly gone. Now I can wear a shirt with a blue dragon print on it and people will say, " I love that shirt ", which will lead to an open conversation about the DnD game and I have recruited players from it. I have even passed down my love for DnD to my children. Watching the amount of DnD and ttrpg's content is just amazing to me. LoL... such a difference and loving it..!

Watching Trist and Ayden in the hospital, and thinking about the compassion they clearly have for some of the mortals of Aeor, and the tension between that compassion and Emhira and Asha's recognition of "what needs to be done" made me wonder -- those time bubbles that preserved clusters and groups of people within Aeor? I wonder if those are a compromise made among the gods, something they did to protect some of Aeor's more innocent populace. Maybe even (and this is based on a few comments here) something to do with whatever the Emissary is carrying within them.

Now Aeor is considered the last Sky City, but I think the lore has shifted, and during campaign 2 the lore still was that Zemniaz fell later than Aeor. The lore is not constant, and some details change as they build it. So Halas' background is old lore.

I wonder if something happens like the gods’ human avatars figure out a way to destroy the god killer weapon without destroying the city only to have the gods destroy Aeor anyway. Perhaps that’s what Ludinus wants Bells Hells to see.

The Emissary is the former god of death, the Matron of Ravens' predecessor. That's why he's an ice elemental, because the Matron also holds the domain of Winter, so presumably she got that from him. And the Emissary was staring at the blank portrait of the previous god of death, which had been wiped blank by the Matron wiping all knowledge of the previous god of death when she ascended. Then Ehmira's raven Dearest started pecking the portrait, as if to begin carving the Matron's image upon it. The Emissary looked at Ehmira and said "Hail to the new." Apparently the immortal nature of gods plus his domain being death made the Matron unable to completely destroy him. He doesn't seem to quite remember who or what he was. And it's like a degree of his higher thinking has been stripped from him. It's as if his identity has been stripped away, leaving him closer to a drone than a person. Arathis must have taken whatever was left of him into her service, which is when he became what in Downfall is known as the Emissary. I do wonder if his acceptance of the Matron now being what he was is Arathis' influence, and if his former identity would be wrathful.

I think a big part of them being mortal avatars is that their personalities have been in part influenced by the mortal lives they've lived. That way they can play more their interpretation of the character without contradicting what the character's actually like. Because you're being generous with Aydan. He's absolutely nothing like the Dawnfather we know. And it's a shame that arguably the most villainous of the Prime deities (and therefore possibly the most interesting) is being portrayed as Jesus. But... on the other hand Asha as Melora is quite different as well. But it makes sense. The Wildmother from the get go understood they were going there to destroy Aeor. No compromise. And she's manifested as a wolf, demonstrating that this avatar is deliberately channeling a much more aggressive side of the Wildmother than she normally displays. She's TRYING to be different because it's what she must be to get this task done. So none of the cast's unique portrayals are lore breaking. I just wish Aydan was more interesting.

It kind of feels like the gods are using the beacon powers of reincarnating a soul in their avatars. Like these are not their first avatars and the remarks between Ayden and Arcadia that when they were young things were fuzzy but they gained their knowledge and memories as they grew sounded a lot like the luxon. That being said it would mean the gods and the luxon are not that separate (I love the theory someone put in the comments that the beacons are just fragments of the ship they came to exandria on).

  • @theoldgoat3000

Wouldn't an offshoot of a god who wants to do/be better/different in their view not just be reflecting an opinion/thought of the god that created them though? That feeling is already in the actual god, but they choose not to choose it essentially. But in this other form, maybe it's safer for this piece of their self to explore it a little more, knowing that they are still bound to whatever ultimate choice the god would make. Changing due to their experiences seems more like what the angels were doing, rather than the avatars or whatever the PCs are in this. Interesting food for thought either way!

  • @air9188

Yeah, my working theory about the Luxon/the Beacons was that they were fragments of the endless possibility of Tengar that the gods accidentally brought with them when they escaped. Or that the Beacons were the pieces of the gods that got left behind when they entered the “real” and had to let go of all the possible versions of themselves that they could have been. It being fragments of the ship is basically that but better haha. It just seems way too perfect that Tengar was a place of endless possibility, and that the gods were all represented as light beings in their home realm. How can it _not_ be connected to the Luxon? I feel like there’s a very good chance we’re not going to find out if that’s true in this miniseries though. Or maybe not ever.

My random theory is that The Emissary is the reason why people are trapped within the blue bubbles in the ruins. Which maybe makes sense in a way. The Lawbearer doesn't want to intervene too heavily and most likely wants her family to succeed so they don't die, but she wouldn't find it fair that everyone in Aeor has to die as a result. So she sends The Emissary in her stead to help her siblings accomplish their task but also with a fail-safe to protect a lot of people in the city who were just trying to seek refuge from the destruction that the gods themselves created on Exandria. I would fucking LOVE this explanation and hope it ends up being true lol
