Another trip to HobbyTown Concord to pick up the new Spitfire. Unboxing, assembly and pre-flight in the video. And the always helpful Ryan.

There is a new E-flite Corsair? :| Wow.. I like that Stuka as well :O BUT the Spit looks great man :) Good size as well Can you actually switch the stabeliser Off on this one by the way?? I'm sure this will be a great flier :) Good luck on the maiden! Cheers

well the Corsair is a few months old so not real new...you can keep the SAFE off and I believe you can turn off the as3x but you need to do through a computer. That stability is nice though. :) Thanks! Hope to get it flying soon! :)
I think this is gonna be my next one.

Spitfire XIV had a bubble canopy like P51D? What's that on yours,
@RCFlightReviews
8 жыл бұрын
Spitfires had the 'Malcom Hood', some P51s were modded to have the same cockpit. The MKXVI spit was the first to have a bubble canopy, but the MKXIV had a slightly larger canopy than the earlier versions, although it wasn't a bubble canopy

Is it sort of a hybrid canopy? Bubble in the front and panels in the back. I guess it does mark it as a different version from the older ones but the 5 blade prop is a clear change.

The spitfire evolved hugely between the mk1 and the seafire mk 47, and the canopy changed a lot. it has a 'blown' hood, which bulges outwards, and the rear windows to allow the pilot to look backwards, as it is more streamlined than the bubble canopy, and it was also carried forwards from the early spits, which were produced before the bubble canopy was available. The 5 blade prop does look very cool though... makes it look more aggressive than the early spits :)
Does the hobby shop ship overseas ?

At first i wanted this spit, but the price here in the UK is insane! it is around £220, the same as a 1400mm FMS P51! I hate to say it, as i love eflite, but compared to the Durafly mk1a/mkvb spitfire it looks a little dated. Great review anyway.... we need more Ryan!

yeah HH stuff seems really expensive outside the US. Oh that Durafly Spit looks good - I'd be tempted on it but have had issues with HK stuff. Maybe Durafly is better?

I was a little wary at first but the more recent durafly planes are just as good as the HH planes in terms of quality. they're not quite as floaty and light in the air, but the spit is a stunner and the quality is flawless. it feels very well thought out, such as the fact that when the wing is properly aligned during assembly it clicks into place. The early durafly planes were supposedly actually made by FMS, but i think recently they have been made by HK. they definitely seem to be becoming much more reputable nowadays. i also had a durafly ME163 Comet and that was also very good quality. Get one and you won't be disappointed! (unless the reviewers curse strikes!) Hopefully the HK delivery man won't drag your plane along the ground....

Sounds good-the plane does look very well designed and detailed. I can deal with the odd problem here and there so maybe I'll give them a go. Maybe better to not review it then lol.

The only issue I've heard of is that on a rough landing the retract legs bend, and if you try to bend them back without removing them from the retract the trunnion snaps, but the retracts are only $10 anyway. your reviews are great and i hope you keep them up. do you think you will be getting ad reviewing the Eflite Timber?
@DiscoverRC
8 жыл бұрын
now I am getting tempted by that Spit! lol. The Timber is the kind of plane I really like-STOL with big flaps and that landing gear looks really good...so even though I have really no room, yeah I'll probably end up getting it. :)
The only reason I clicked on this video, was because Ryan was in the thumbnail
