My husband bought me the Dyson. I have curly hair and wanted a good blow out. I wasnt impressed with the Dyson for what it costs. I returned and got the Shark. I agree about the sound and button placement. But I do think that the Shark wrap has better suction. I have thick hair and I had to use smaller sections on the Dyson. Thanks for all the detail.

I work at Costco and so many people return Dyson Vacuums and Shark Flex Stylers. And yes, the sound of the Shark is the main reason for return. I say, wear earplugs and save yourself $300.

This was a very fair, unbiased, helpful review. Thank you. I haven’t used the Dyson yet, so I think after watching your comparison review, for my budget, I’d go with the shark and maybe a hair of ear plugs.😄

I think for a $300 price difference the Dyson doesn't have that many more benefits than the shark, $600 on a styling tool is insane, they are charging that much because they know people will pay for it, production can't cost that much

I tend to agree except that my hairdresser who has both for her personal use says that the SHARK is far less kinder to your hair. The technology of the DYSON is far superior. So while you see similar styling results, one is definitely not as good for your hair!

for 350$ less I dont mind it being louder. Im not gonna pay 350$ for lack of sound, it's ridiculous, especially concidering these tools break at some point, it's not like it's a long term investment. Even my Dyson vacuum gave up almost not being used at all. Like another comment said - good curls but not 300$ more good.

I have wavy curly hair and choose the shark. I haven’t used it yet as it’s a christmas gift but I was looking for a round brush blow dryer and love the multi use ability of the shark. I have an 8 yr old daughter that I will also be styling.

I’ve been trying to choose which one to buy, and I think this tipped me over to Dyson. I have shoulder length hair that my stylist and I have worked really hard to get to a pure platinum color without completely destroying the health of it, and the fact that the Shark gets so much hotter makes me feel like I can’t trust it to keep my hair in good condition.

Probably the best comparison I’ve seen of these two 👏🏻 I was convinced the Shark would be my choice, but I’m now preferring the Dyson. The brushes on the Shark are too big for my mid length bob (and a lot of bad reviews about them pulling and damaging the hair), plus the noise, heat, and button locations you mentioned are also now of concern. I think I’ll throw another £200 (I’m in the UK) at it and get the Dyson. Thank you for helping me decide 😊🇬🇧

I'm not gonna lie lol, this is an excellent review! I have the Dyson and after watching the comparison I'm glad I spent the extra money on the Dyson. The loudness, button location, and having to switch barrels are game changers for me. Great job!

Great video, I've watched a few so far, this is the best one I've seen imo. I really like both but man the shark just makes such an abrasive noise, especially if you're curling a lot, I would not want that right next to my head. It's very apparent in the video how different they are. They both seem to do a great job curling, but especially on your longer hair I think it's clear the Dyson does a better job. I think everyone agrees that the shark is a better hair dryer though. I enjoyed this video, you did a nice job not being bias towards one or the other, and just giving a fair review. Thanks!

This was a really great review. I just got the Shark Flex Style and have never used a Dyson Air Wrap, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Just like you, I was shocked at how loud and high pitched the Shark was. I love how it makes my hair look, so I've decided to keep it, and I just wear ear plugs while I use it. It was honestly unbearable without the ear plugs. If the ear plugs didn't help I probably would've returned it, but it's so much better now. Guess I'll just add the ear plugs into the bag as an accessory! Thanks so much for your review!

Hi new to all kinds of hair styling really lol i usually blow dry and use straightening irons ghd and only curl for special occasions. But i want an all in 1 option and currently in early jan sales the dyson is only a few quid more than shark so practically same price. But my question is which do you feel gives a straighter look please?

I have had the dyson for years and love it. I bought the Shark and honestly hated it. It killed my hair in the short time I used it. Definitely get similar styles but the damage to the hair is the difference in price. And I like the .8 inch barrels for dyson best, holds curl/wave so much better and the shark is too big

That’s the oval brush. The round one looks like the Dyson. Shark also have the .95 width barrel. I chose the special edition wich includes the 2 barrel sizes, concentrator, frizz attachment, oval brush, some hair clips and a small bag and everything for $299 + the 20% discount code that is until 12/10.

I also have problems with my ear and mostly when it is to loud I get headache and sometimes nausea the fact that the Dyson is not so loud as the shark.It's for me Dyson. Thanks you you review !

Thank you for this video. So detailed. My hubby just got me the Dyson for my birthday. And I was having some remorse because it was $100 more and didn't have as many attachments as the Shark. But it may be an unpopular opinion but I think the curls with the Dyson look bouncier and more voluminous just in the video it seems like the Shark curls were going straight or weren't as sharp/crisp as the Dyson ones 🤔. The shark now comes In champagne (stone), black, copper, lilac, teal, and Malibu pink but the Dyson is winning with the one barrel curler if shark did that it would be top notch! But I do love the shark it’s super super good with out costing a small fortune. Shark is the winner in my book 😅🥰💕

If you use it angled with the barrel you can just turn it over to change direction.

i'm really having a hard time picking which one i want to purchase!! i do have longer hair, and the price difference is a huge talking point!

I just got my Dyson (I LOVEEE it) but I’ve been binge watching comparison videos like this to see if Shark is better than the Dyson and if the $300 difference is justified and I must say, from all the videos I’ve seen, the Shark side definitely looks drier (?) than the Dyson side and u can see more stray hairs sticking out

Great video. You helped me to decide not to try the Shark. It's too similar to Dyson and the Dyson didn't work for me. My hair did not like it. Super dried out my hair. I even got a haircut because I really wanted to like it. It takes too long to use and curls fall out of my thick long hair in about 2 hours. My hair does better with air drying or using a diffuser. right side is flexstyle for sure or its not, I feel like they look the same, but maybe your left side is a biiiit smoother in favor of superior engineering for the dyson?

There is a model from the airwrap that includes the diffuser, you can even get separate if yours don't have.

I had the Dyson and it's loud, too, not just the Shark. I returned my Dyson. Very over rated and over priced.

Nice comparison video. I just purchased my Dyson air wrap. I love it . But good to know that Sharks made a similar one. I don’t see much difference in the curls both look great. I would still prefer the Dyson. Probably because I’m a loyal fan to the brand. Their vacuum is amazing.

Thank you for being unbiased. I’ve seen a lot of videos where they compare & don’t use the tools correctly. Then call the shark the winner. I personally have the Dyson. I have Dyson vacuums & the supersonic. So I prefer the brand. Let’s not forget Dyson is the Crestor/ brains behind the air wrap & was ripped off by Shark. Imho I highly doubt Shark would have made Their model if it weren’t for Dyson. But whatever you can afford & are happy with is what you should get.

Over all the Shark is better and more convenient and easier to use. This is all about paying for the name brand like with other products. That's why I got my wife the Shark.

I own a Dyson. After around 4 yrs it died on me. I called Dyson and they said I have to pay them $100+ for their repair department to look at it. I’m really bummed out by their response. I will be replacing it with a Shark. I much prefer the Shark side. Thank you!

The Dyson is more safer heat.

The size of the dyson is so much better than the Shark. Shark was so uncomfortably long for me, holding the tool was just not it.

I think I've seen some reviews where people like the button placement on the shark cause it prevents accidental presses or shutoff but I think it comes down to familiarity/practice so long run the convenience of the Dyson placement is probably better! As someone who already bought the Dyson before the shark came out I have a little fomo but I don't regret my purchase :) would you mind doing a video on how you got your hair thicker/hair care? Been dealing with thinking hair in my mid 20s as someone who has always had thick hair and it's the worst 🫠
