I have the same aircraft, just so good to fly. I cut the nose off and installed a glider drive motor with 3 cell pack. No need for bungies these days. It climbs away very well and doesnt use much battery either. Lots of info on electrification on the net. Good work !! and looks great.Never wants to come down!!! Just watch that stall on release !!!Cheers

I love these bird of times. I have one thats 30 years old or better and an original in the box. Also a sagita 600 and 900. Rc soaring is the best. Great videos thanks. ❤

What a gorgeous bird. I’m so envious of the flying areas you guys have across the Pond. I’m all stirred up now. Taking my Yellow Jacket RES glider out for the sunset in central Missouri.

Not all of us are as lucky as I am to have that flying space. Large open spaces in the UK are very hard to come by to stretch out a large hi-start.

Good on you Nick, was sure nice to see, i have the same glider and have not been came to high start. Please tell me ,what thickness and how long was your rubber. Im guessing you had too lengths . I have two 8mm dia .ten meters long, is that similar to what you used and hopefully that's enough. Would really like to know what you used. Thanks for sharing john.

in order to safely stretch a hi-start/bungee, hold onto the line so that the tension is Supported by you hand/arm; not by the tow hook.

I had a Bird of Time. I also had the same results on the Hi-start. I moved the tow hook back one notce/space and adterwards my launches improved considerably. Maybe stretch the line out some more to get more tension, tje Bird of Time is a fairly heavy glider and needs quit a bit of tension for an efective launch on the High-Start. Otherwise your Bird looks good. Good luck with it and happy flying!

Thanks for your comment James. I’d have had plenty of room to stretch it out further if the wind hadn’t changed direction. I’ll give it another go when we have favourable conditions.

I do like to fly mine but she likes a little wind. Especially to get a good launch. Thanks for sharing

I was also thinking that a little breeze would assist the launch. There was barely anything on the day I flew.

Hi! thanks for sharing. I have the same BOT and bought the necessary parts for a bungy but never had the courage to try it out. Furthermore it isn't always easy to find a field big enough for these launches. You don't say anything about your bungy: rubber type and length, rope lenght, traction force, possible pullies etc... That woulld be interesting!

Thanks for your comment. I found the BoT quite tame on the launch. In my next video I’ll give the specs for my homemade hi-start. But you’re right, you do need a lot of space, twice the length of your hi-start. This is why so many people modify their models to retrofit a motor & prop.

this model wants more bungee strength. the model should ascend, like a kite.! up at 85 degrees
