I’m about to dye my hair this color in august and I’m watching so many tutorials on how. Thank you so much for the explanation! My hair is a dark brown/black and I decided not to go to a salon because they said they would have to bleach it and I don’t trust stylists since I live in a state that doesn’t have too many black people😭 so thank you for this!!!

The hairstylist is correct, they would need to lift your dark hair a bit in order for the hair dye colour show up vibrant. In the video she used a developer in the hair dye to give lift her natural hair a lift in order for the dye to take as good as it did

You definitely did a soft bleached by using the 30 developer, you would not be able to get this beautiful color pay off without lifting your hair . It looks great but the disclaimer of not bleaching is misleading to people that don’t understand hair

Thank you for saying that, I don’t know why they don’t want to show all the products used. The same thing happened to me following their nonsense, I ended up spending more money, because I didn’t use developer at first. I don’t know why they are deceiving people. Without developer there is no way you will get this result.😀

Omg this is perfect 🥰 I love you for this. Each time I've gotten my hair dyed it was bleached. It's been a few years and I do not want to use bleach. This will be my first time dyeing my hair by myself. I've been searching for a video to relate to for a few weeks. Thank you!! If Merlot is a hicolor hair dye I believe the process should yield great results. If it’s from a different brand I honestly couldn’t say. As for prep the only thing that I do is oil my scalp beforehand, I have a video showing the exact hair oiling process on my channel ♥️

Haha 😂 Pauline I was in the same boat as you 👏🏽 I tend to not trust other people with my hair so I did a lot of research beforehand. I think it’s definitely worth trying, and the upkeep is pretty manageable. I’ll make a full video going over the upkeep and things I’d wish I’d known beforehand ♥️♥️

You could try and Overtone or Moroccan Oil type hair colour mask over this if you wanted to brighten it with no damage. Looks gorgeous!

Thank you, I washed it several times after the initial dye and the color did fade a bit. But I have a routine that counteracts the fading process and allows the color to remain vibrant. The video on that process will be up soon ♥️

Hey yes I’d definitely recommend L’Oréal hicolor for darker hair, I will preface though that I don’t have experience with other hair dyes, but after using this one I don’t plan on trying anything else ♥️

Hey so I looked it up and yea it does contain ppd in it, sorry to hear that you’re allergic it seems like a lot of companies tend to use this ingredient in their products 😔

I don’t know for sure but you could try deep condition your scalp with maybe fresh aloe and dye when your hair is dirty so your scalp isn’t all fresh and exposed! Best wishes to you hun!💕👏

Heyyy no I didn’t experience any change in my curl pattern in terms of visibility, but I did notice that my hair did become more defined. If anything I believe it could have changed my hairs porosity ♥️

Oh no, perhaps. Also everyone’s hair processes differently, I’d recommend following the time given on the box. But check your hair to see if it lightened enough and if not let it process for longer while continuously checking in on it ♥️
