I think I should mention, I do have dark brown hair but before I did purple I actually bleached my whole hair 1-2mo before this and it then I dyed it like an ash brown or something like that. You can see on previous videos. I think that’s the reason the purple caught so well

Girl DO IT, trust me I spent too many years wishing I could use all these beautiful colors and was too afraid. At the end of the day it’s just dye, it will wash out or fade out at some point.

EVERDEENXOXO my issue is my silvers that are always growing it! I have to do root touch ups like once a month because my hair grows really fast! So I'd have to really commit to a color because I'd be needing to touch it up so often! 😅 but I've always been attracted to the purple tones because I have really cool toned skin and blue eyes!

Yess .. I thought it would have been a huge difference but it was a perfect shade and not too dramatic

I dyed my hair for the first time about 3-4 weeks ago, i wasnt brave enough to go full purple and plus i wanted to keep some natural colour so i chose to dye the underlayer of my hair! My natural hair colour is like a dark blonde , so its unusual for a darker colour to be underneath considering most hair that are dyed underneath are lighter then the top layer but oh well 😂 it turned out great and it takes quite a bit of dedication and confidence to dye your hair (whether it be the whole head or not) a complete non- natural colour❤ Purple rocks anybody , such a beautiful colour💜

Yes. I started doing simple colors then during covid i went all out since i wasnt leaving the house anyways. Recently i did a copper brown with rose gold bangs. How much of developer did you used?

I'm going to use this brand today in Tanzanite. I also have dark hair and have dyed it before, but trying to go more vivid without bleaching. I'm going to be using 30 developer bc it's supposed to lift a bit better for dark hair and make color pop a little more

I just used Arctic Fox on my most recent video. I honestly think Arctic Fox is lasting longer on me then ION ever did

I love this. I tried doing doing hair permanently purple and it turned out more burgundy. More red than I like and it doesn't fit my skin tone at all. This looks much more blue.

I know. I had bleached my hair but then when brown and then purple. I wish I would have just done the purple straight after the blonde. It would have been very vibrant. I don’t recommend bleaching tho, my hair is so dry now

U usually use twice the amount of the dye. So if the dye is 2 oz, the developer is 4oz. Keep in mind in the comments everyone said i wasnt suppose to use the developer 🤷🏻‍♀️ make sure to read the directions

Sadeee I would say 2 boxes because I have thick hair and when I use two boxes I still have some left over. You can use any developer. I usually use Volume 20 because that’s what my best friend recommended me and she went to cosmetology school. She always advises me to use lower volumes so that I don’t damage my hair. I guess the higher the volume the more that it can damage your hair. I hope that helps : )

So like u said that u ran out of the first box at like 1/2 to like 3/4 of ur hair done, so if I wanted to do a half ombré on my hair would I be cutting it close, or should I be fine?

Depending on the length of your hair and the thickness. If you have long hair you would need two no matter what because people with long thick hair usually use 3 boxes. But it you have short hair then you should be find with one. I always buy extra tho so that I don’t risk needing more.

Omg gurl, I did it, I used 20 developer like you did. I even talked to the sally place girl for a while and she didn’t know either 🙄 it turn out “black” 😅 hoping it will fade in time but I didn’t mind black anyway, btw idk what’s in this dye, it made my hair so straight and smooth so I just love it for that anyway. Thank you!

Do you think your roots that were not pre-lightned picked up the color well? I can see your ends were pre-lightened but the end results its hard to see how the roots lifted. I am also curious how root touch up would be on a brunette using this color.

The color I chose was dark enough to blend with my roots, they didn’t really show until the color faded almost completely. If your hair isn’t black the color still grabs onto the dark brown it’s just not as vibrant

This color is so pretty! I have arctic fox’s purple rain sitting on my brown hair right now and I’m afraid it won’t show up well or last long so I was looking for alternatives just in case. Have you ever used arctic fox? And how long did this color last? PS your makeup is gorgeous too. ☺️

I actually loved Artic Fox way better. It lasts longer and it smelled better. I have another video showing how it looks. I had to bleach it a little for the color to show the way I wanted

The arctic fox didn’t show up on my hair. it pretty much just make the brassier areas of my hair look richer and less red. would have been great if i wanted it toned 😂 maybe i diluted it too much and could try it again undiluted. My hair used to be bleached and the arctic fox worked great on it then. but then i got tired of touching up my roots so i dyed it back to my natural color which is the medium/dark brown in my picture. maybe the fact that my hair is dyed dark is causing it to not show up as well either?

This one specifically is semi permanent so u don’t need developer. I heard u do use it on the permanent one. But I didn’t know. And girl don’t get me started Iv been think of going back to brown. But I REFUSEEEEEE lol

You definitely should or use a toner to lighten it. Whichever you feel more comfortable with. I tried doing it two days ago on dark hair and it didn’t come out 🥺. I’m gonna give my hair some rest for a month or two and try again but lighten it first

This is just what I was looking for, my hair is about the same color as yours in the beginning of the video and I can't stand it because I'm not a natural colors kind of girl, I just chopped off 6 inches, got my bangs back and it's time to dye it. Your makeup is flawless, so pretty! I'm always searching for the perfect purple black but I'm beginning to think it doesn't exsist but this is pretty damn close.

I know there are certain colors that really fade out quick and I hate that part because I hate having to re-dye it over and over when I find a nice color. The only color that really stayed for a while is arctic fox purple rain. Im Avoiding coloring my hair for another month if I can try to hold on LOL but I’ve been seeing really pretty reds everywhere

Yes I had bleached it like 6mo or so before this then I colored my hair with a store bought dye I think it was “got 2b in Amethyst” but that faded into the color I had at the start of the video

If you have dark hair and want a red or violet color you can use loreal high colors for darks only

If you watch my most recent video you’ll see you kinda have to lighten your hair to get a nice purple. In this video I did use developer which could have contributed to how the purple came out. But you don’t need developer for this brand. It comes already ready to use straight from the bottle. I buy my dye at Sally’s Beauty Salon.

Also, Iv used the Féria dye, the purple one I forget what the color is called I think it’s Amyth metallic idk I forget the exact color but I used it before and it did come out to a nice purple. If your hair is black tho it will be hard to get a nice purple. Trust me I have tried so hard with so many brands.

No you don’t. I didn’t know you were suppose to use it without it. Is your hair light brown? If it is I think it would work, if it’s dark brown I think the developer helped lift my dark brown so that the purple would show. If you don’t want to bleach it, you can try buying a toner, like T-18 and using that first to make your hair a little lighter before using the radiant orchid.

I’m a naturally dark brown headed but i bleached my hair and tried going blonde but it went ginger... i’ve left it for about 3-4 months now but i really want to go like a dark ish purple but i just don’t want it going a differnt color with the ginger

I’m the last one to be an expert but I do know this is what toner is for. Go to the beauty supply store (Sally’s or so) and they will recommend the right one. Do that and then do the purple so that it will come out good. I wish I would have done that when I did blonde but I went back to brown after I bleached it

I used both. You only need the dye. Don’t use developer with this brand. You should watch my recent video. I dyed it purple again and I had better results.

You can but it will wash off and it won’t get the desired color. I mean either way the color of your original hair plays into what color you’re gonna get but the developer is used to deposit the color onto the pores of your hair so that it will last longer

It came out really good but this is a ready to use. You aren’t supposed to add developer at all

My hair is really really black. I know the purple is gonna vary depending on color, and I do not wanna to bleach it. In fact, i would only want to keep this look for a couple months. f I were to dye it at home, would it return to black after it fades? Would I have to re dye it back? If your hair is light brown and do you want a dark shade of purple I don’t believe you really need to lighten it but I have to trying out different brands I really think that you should try arctic fox purple rain instead you don’t have to mix it with developer it’s already ready to go and it smells so sweet nothing like chemicals

Hey. This is an older video. I didn’t know this specific product doesn’t need developer. You can use it straight on your hair. I recommend using Arctic Fox tho. Iv been using that more often then ION. They have more vibrant colors too. Iv used the purples and reds. 3rd it has a nicer smell. No chemical smell, more like a fruity smell.

It depends on the ounces of the one tube. If the tube has 2 oz you use 4 oz of developer.

I tried doing blue a few days ago but it was a mess. I was told I would have to get my hair really blonde in order for it to work. Have you seen my recent video? I just did my hair purple again and this time I bleached it and it turned out really purple

I’m pretty sure you used the semi permanent version of this dye that doesn’t require developer... you’d know because it’s purple coming out of the tube vs the ones that required developer are whiteish yellow....

Trust me I thought so too but the directions say you don’t mix any developer. Unfortunately I didn’t read the instructions before I dyed it assuming it was like any other ion product so I used it. I also googled it to make sure, and sure enough it says online you don’t mix it in. Came out pretty good either way lol.

The stuff she showed in the video was the permanent brights, so she was right to use developer, she just put a pic of the semi permanent brights in the thumbnail

I would use 10 volume. You should try Purple rain from Artic fox with no developer

I didn’t really bleach it before this I actually had used like a light golden brown color and then , i colored it used splat on it, it was like a violet purple so yeah it was fading off of that, when i did this. If you see the picture from my profile later on I ended up bleaching it and using a different purple. Honestly I feel like bleaching it helped the purple look a lot better

Did you use developer? I didnt know this brand had two different kinds of purple. One that you use developer, one that you dont. I used the wrong one on another video and it turned rose or some kind. If you used developer it might have lifted your color. (Im not an expert this is just my opinion). Honestly i stopped using the ion colors because of this mistake and used Arctic Fox Purple rain and it turned my hair a better purple. I should let you know now my hair is really dry but I’ve been trying to add moisture back to it what I did is I had to use that “color oops hair color remover” dried my hair then re dyed it with the arctic fox purple. If you want to continue using that ion purple just make sure that you read the instructions and if it says not to use the developer don’t use it.

i used the exact same developer and permanent color purple that you’re using in the video, my hair is really light brown now. i don’t want to dye my hair back to brown or black or bleach it again. so since i still have developer left i was going to get another ion permanent purple today and go over this light brown, you think it would turn it some sort of dark purple bc that’s what i originally was going for. will arctic fox show on light brown hair as well?? i appreciate your opinion bc the ladies at sally’s beauty weren’t very helpful. thank you so much!

Honestly, i got lucky with this one i have no idea why but i had so many people tell me i was not suppose to use developer. I didnt read the box so i have no idea if i was suppose to or not. With Artic fox you dont have to use developer and it smells fruity not like chemicals. Im only saying try a different one because if you got light brown off of this then that means you did the same thing i did from a different video and it lifted the color. Its completely up to you. Maybe read the box when you get there and see if this box needs developer. The developer is the one lifting it and not depositing the color on your hair. I was mad on mine too because i did what you did on another video.

yes the purple box i got said to use developer so i did and it definitely lifted the purple i had previously on my hair. i just really like how dark the purple is on your hair in this video and how you put it on maroon kinda dark hair that’s why i’m so tempted to do another round with the purple and developer since my hair is light brown now. i will definitely have to do some research i guess, but thank you again this was very helpful!!

Good luck. It may be that you put it on previous purple 🤷🏻‍♀️ like i said i did it again on another video and got light brown/rose. I had to re dye it again. But i didnt try with the ion again so maybe it could work.

How much developer did you put in with one box?

I usually use 2 oz of developer to 1 oz of color.

Also does the 20 developer bleach your hair?

20 developer lifts your natural hair color so that whatever color you add shows better. The higher the number the more it lifts. 40 and 30 and prettty strong so its better to use 20. When i dont want too much lift ill use 10. But developer does not bleach your hair. The only one that has really lifted the brown off my hair is using loreal hi lites red, im not sure if they have other colors

I think i did. At the time i didnt know the difference between permanent and semi permanent

I thought this was semi permanent color and it didn’t need peroxide

Va Va voom. It looks amazing on you. You had a good dark burgundy base to work with.

Love the color! What level of lightness do I need to achieve this color. I can't tell what level your hair is before dying it purple. Thank you

I actually ended up finding out that you don’t need a developer for this brand. Please go watch my most recent video I just redid this color and it came out so much more brighter. In order to actually get a really good purple on your hair I’m sorry but you really do need to bleach it but you don’t need to bleach it a lot just watch my new video

I think it was 2-3mo, i made sure to wash it with cold water and wash twice a week.

Yea it was semi perm. It lasted like 6 weeks or so, I think it did this end of Nov and by Feb it was faded

Tejalkera_Msp love Same here i dye it anyways, I just say to any teachers who stop me “My hair my life i’m only a teenager once and when i’m an adult i probably won’t want to dye my hair so move” 💀

Tejalkera_Msp love yeah, my school literally gave my friend a hair stripper and half of her hair fell out. They always tell me to change it to a natural color but i don’t listen at the end of the day it’s our hairs not theirs..Like they should just let us kids live our life’s

Girl I just learned on a previous comment that this particular hair dye does not need developer 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol. But I usually use the 2:1 ratio..like if I have one bottle of dye I use 2 of those same bottles of developer. But again, this dye I used doesn’t need developer it come ready to use I just didn’t know that at the time lol.

Is this hair dye permanent or will it fade away because I want to dye my hair but I don’t want to it to stay dyed for toooo long

It faded. It’s semi permanent. Mine lasted like 5-6weeks and it faded to a light brownish purple

Sorry I didn’t see this, I guess comments get lost under other comments. I wash mine once maybe twice a week. Only because my hair is really dry. My roots don’t get oily until day 5 or so sometimes

I don’t think it would go back completely natural but I’m just talking from my own experience. With this purple it faded to a light violet/brown color.

2:1 ratio. So since the box is 2oz i usually use 4oz. I have thick hair tho so most of the time i have to make a second batch

From my experience no 😣. You either have to go for it and just bleach it, or use Loreal Hicolor and try Magenta 🤷🏻‍♀️, it’s not a perfectly purple but it’s pretty close to purple… maroon

I want to say 🤔 2-3mo.. its been years since i used this brand so im not accurate on the timing. Now i just keep up with color using Arctic fox semi permanent and Loreal Hi-color on my roots.

@@yolanda9730 depending on how bright you want it, I have had good experience with Loreal Hicolor. They have a selection of colors. I believe they also have a violet color just speak to the girls at the counter. But if you pair it with 30 volume. It works really well on lifting dark brown. I have dark brown hair too. And if you like the color that you use, just use it on your roots every now and then and use a semi permanent color just to refresh the bottom part so youre not damaging your hair as much as dying your whole head each time.

He had a very beautiful eyes and the color you had in your hair even though you say it faded actually looks really nice the outcome looks very beautiful as well but this is kind of a false video for people to watch and to try to achieve your results due to the color you had in your hair previously but you never know someone could have had died at that color as well so it could help someone
