It's trendy to hate on the rock these days. The stuff that just came out that's been shut down by the production of the movie he worked on, and WWE. Nobody talks about the failed attempt to me-too him late last year or early this year, I forget exactly when it happened but around the same time Vin D got hit with some bs that fizzled.

Im looking at it from a different perspective , I dont see it as the Rock wanted to takeover DC cause we knew that would never happen, hes not known for writting and directing block buster hits lets be honest. But him being someone at DC over seeing films as an adviser or something I could see and was behide. Now this is WB so the story keeps changing about his ego , I thought all the man did was didnt allow any interference by the studios which got Henry in, then he stepped over toes and went behind backs to get Superman. Now he was trying to run the whole damn studio. Naw mann Im not hearing that

I totally agree with you here. Some people have issues with the Rock being such a big star and ego, but when WB/DC had nothing going his idea to go into some direction, by bringing back Cavill, was the way to go. The Rock is known as the "People's Champ" for a reason. And yeah he may have wanted to take credit and be in control, I can't knock him for that, he's also a business man. Overall his intentions were to bring something that the people/fans would enjoy. Black Adam was barely his intro in, they should have given this new direction some time to play out instead of stopping cold and rebooting. Black Adam could be a formidable foe for JLA, even if casted to be some anti-hero, it would have brought us some awesome cinematic battles. It also would have just kept a good flow going, I dont think another Cavill superman movie or a Affleck batman solo movie would have flopped. If for what I had imagined, there would some sort of stalemate between Superman and Black Adam, lets say for morality. Black Adam would put protection of Khandaq ahead of the world. Would have been nice to see Black Adam layeth the smack down on the whole Shazamily!!! Captain Marvel was still relatively new to being a superhero, would make sense for him to get whooped. Another JLA cameo, Superman shows up to better the odds to stop BA. Later eventually, as they got the DCEU moving to JL2 and JL3 movies, Black Adam would have his part to help defeat Darkseid (I imagine it like his "Vegeta" moment, from Dragon Ball Z, when his distraction helps Gohan defeat Cell). It takes a combined forces of good and bad to stop the Invasion.

@@orhanamin1347 BA is considered DCEU though. Would have been incorporated into Snyderverse if the continued with Cavill, Affleck, Godot, etc etc.. At that time WB had no idea on what they to do with DC. Constantly changing and trying things different to get a successful movie. BA was first to try to set a direction, bringing back Superman would have been that step forward towards bringing unity DCEU….opening the door for Snyder to finish his JL story.

It would have made sense to keep Henry as superman.. The Rock would have continued to be a good black adam.. and the DCU would have continued

I think there were good and bad things about Black Adam. The extensive back story involving his son could have totally been cut. Making Black Adam into a hero so early also was a mistake. Johnson's not wanting to have Shazam appear in the movie was a giant mistake as in the comics they are adversaries. The villains were lackluster. A great villain performance would have helped. I think keeping the films mostly serious was a good idea. The Flash was a huge misfire. Blue Beetle wasn't very good. It needed a serious rewrite and Susan Sarandon's role and character totally needed to be beefed up. Right now it's like her character is a placeholder. Very generic.

I don’t think the Rock was wrong. Warner Bros was a complete mess at the time. Under Walter Hamada, DC movies were failing left and right. Publicly, Warner Bros wanted James Gunn to take over, but also publicly Gunn was quoted not wanting the position and not wanting to do a Superman film. As far as the Rock knew, Zaslav wanted WBD to produce more DC projects and had no one to do the job. The Rock has a production company. He had a plan and a Black Adam film that he had been waiting years to make to build on. As a businessman, why wouldn’t he take the chance. Warner Bros Discovery gave him that false hope. They either wanted Gunn and wasn’t taking no for an answer, or they already had Gunn and couldn’t publicly say because Gunn was still under contract with Disney.

Black Adam did it turn a profit but after marketing costs it was only around $100 million which was not enough for warner bros. It earned HUGE on streaming and DVD/BluRay, nearly equal to Black Panther 2. What really p!ssed them off was the lack of toy sales. Considering the fact that all the toys they made were garbage and the only decent black Adam toy was the $25 McFarlane figure, you can see why they didn't sell.

A Man of Steel 2 movie with Henry Cavill and Sasha Calle might have been amazing, imo.

Though I did enjoy James Gunn"s Guardians of the Galaxy because of the type of characters they were. I have a lot of concern whether Gunn and his team can make a Batman movie straight out of the comics. Batman is a serious dark character and I haven't seen him do a serious movie throughout his entire career.

This is when the media started pushing this idea of superhero fatigue. The truth is, this is when all of these bad superhero movies started coming out from both Marvel and DC.

I don't get it The DCEU movies were making far more money than the earlier MCU movies before they made the announcement that they were scrapping it. If they had shown a little patience and ensured that the following movies were interconnected ,of which they weren't. I feel that the DCEU would have been a success. Dwayne may well have been right.

You're right and if WB stayed on track with Snyder's plan, JL 2 and 3 would have been finished by now and fans would have been fine with a reboot since we would have got closure with the DCEU.

On one hand DC needs a reboot because there were way too many DC movies that failed. Two, what The Rock was trying to do could have worked because he was setting himself up as the Thanos of DC.

Black Adam was a mess... Rock ego did got in the way...Still a fan just being honest ...

Wb screwed it all up really. They had gunn in the background, waiting for his answer. meanwhile zaslof had to give the go to the rock to do things which meant bringing cavill back. When zaslof heard back from gunn almost instantly people stopped going and supporting the rock. Numbers fell right away. It had no china release as well. Hamada was running things into the ground with shitty movies using our snyders characters. If the rock was able to continue then snyder would have came back and I gaurentee you all things would have improved

The Rock was on the right path to fixing it. The next movie would have started off with superman and the justice league fighting black Adam then Darkseid would have shown up and they would have teamed up to take him down over the course of 2-3 movies.

James Gunn doesn't make comic book movies. James Gunn turns comic book characters into his own original characters and turns them into comedies. NONE Of the guardians of the galaxy characters were anything like that in the comic books. I actually liked his suicide squad sequel but you have to admit that none of the characters were anything like The original characters in the comic books. The only one that he got right was polkadot man and then he killed that 1 off in the end.

Rock threw Snyder fans a bone and that is it took huh Also I don't think Rock leading DC would have made Shazam 2 and The Flash actually made them successful. They actually needed to be good movies in the first place. Hell if Cavill's cameo actually made the movie a BILLION then WBD would have had no choice but to try and play off it.
