Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt Respond To Rebecca Ferguson's 'Idiot' Co-Star Claim

Ойын-сауық

After Rebecca Ferguson cryptically discusses an "idiot" of a former "Number 1 on the call sheet" co-star, Graeme O'Neil takes a look at how Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt removed themselves from the suspect list.

If he was a perfectionist he’d display perfect on-set behaviour - leading by example of best practices - one of which is acknowledging film-making is a team sport. Hugh is flawed. If your reputation is one of petulant, self-centred, indulgent, flippant and ungrateful interactions with only female cast members - like he does, that’s just plain OLD sexism. Yelling at, ostracizing, and otherwise throwing a limp-dick shit fit isn’t ‘to of call sheet’ behaviour, it’s desperation. I hope whoever did this to her never gets the validation they are so desperate for - and continues to fade of into mediocrity. What a loser. She is such a talented actor - to think she had to parent this guy and a the director and the producers through this just speaks to how female creatives deserve WAY MORE MONEY!

It was Hugh Grant. There's a long list of names of people who can't stand to work with him (Jon Stewart, Julianne Moore, Drew Barrymore, Rachel Weisz), and he even had a repeat of the same incident on another film in 2021 where, by his own admission, he "lost his temper" with a woman in his eyeline and exploded at her without realizing she was just a child actor's chaperone. He's quick to apologize when he's called out, yet keeps doing it which makes the apologies worthless. He's also thrown objects at journalists and stated that he hopes their children "get cancer", make of that what you will.

I agree with you, but with a caveat: if producers and directors _don’t_ hold these people accountable, one could argue that not outing them to the public contributes to the systemic protection of bad apples who are allowed a free pass because they sell well. That said, what she mentioned hints at that there were consequences, at least on that particular set, and anyway I wouldn’t blame her for not sharing: it’s her story - and it sounds like a really negative experience - and she’s the one who could face social, work-related, and even legal consequences for talking. I think there could be an ethical incentive to speaking out, but I don’t know that it applies in this case, and anyway it doesn’t even come close to superseding her right to say no more than she’s comfortable saying.

I read elsewhere that Ferguson suggested the encounter happened at some point in the last decade. The most likely A-lister from that timeframe is Hugh Grant whom she worked with in Florence Foster Jenkins (2016). Grant was notorious for creating onset friction and having meltdowns that were well documented in 2004, 2009, 2016 and again in 2023. He once stated "I’m a nasty piece of work and people should know that.” He also admitted to making costars cry in the past and that many actresses despised working with him including Julia Roberts, Julianne Moore, Rachel Weisz and Drew Barrymore.

My kids and I met The Rock and Dany Garcia at an XFL vendor event. We were all standing in the dugout of Choctaw Stadium (baseball stadium converted to football for the XFL, now UFL). As Dany started to address the small crowd of about 50 people, my daughter and I were standing near the top of the dugout near her, and Dwayne walked up to us. I shook his hand and said, ‘Hello Mr. Johnson’. He shook my hand but largely ignored me and went right up to my daughter, who was 9 at the time and a massive Rock fan. Dany started to speak, and The Rock spoke directly to my daughter in a hushed tone as to not speak over Dany, and said to my daughter, “I have three daughters.” He then listed all their ages and what they liked to do for fun and the sports they played. Then he said, “And they’re all beautiful just like you.” It was a cool moment that my daughter won’t ever forget. I personally think that it was not Dwayne Johnson.

He said Rebecca, despite her experience with this person and despite that maybe (I agree with you on this one) they deserve to be called out, she decided to remain as professional as possible and not reveal the name to make them a target of hate, even if some of us feel they would deserve it. At the end of the day is to see what good does it do. So it is not that "revealing the name is not having class" but rather not revealing it is "taking the high road approach" sort of, and shows conduct and manners. He is saying it, literally in the video: "I understand having class and being respectful not revealing the name but she is also protecting them". So he is recognizing her well mannered professional conduct, while at the same time pointing out how this doesn't really help the industry.

It's a personal social interaction that can/will happen anywhere, that doesn't mean it's part of the activity you're taking part in. Not to mention, potentially, as a precaution, were the name to come out (as was said in the video, the list isn’t that long) and were there to be talks of defamation, especially since the story may be years old and could otherwise be argued to negligently unfairly portray a person she hasn’t known for a long time in an extremely socially and professionally damaging light.

There's a long list of names of people who can't stand to work with him (Julianne Moore, Drew Barrymore, Rachel Weisz), and he even had a repeat of the same incident on another film in 2021 - by his own admission, he "lost his temper" with a woman in his eyeline and exploded at her without realizing she was just a child actor's chaperone. He's quick to apologize when he's called out, yet keeps doing it which makes the apologies worthless. He's also thrown objects at journalists and stated that he hopes their children "get cancer", make of that what you will.

I like her but this is just a way to promote a movie and herself. Mainly herself. She just wants to jump onto the next step on the acting hierarchy. She was great on that series where they live in a cylinder, but at the same time she had nothing but two or three faces. Always annoyed, always grumpy, just mad. Not exactly her fault if it wasnt well written, but the character became boring and one dimensional.

**Rebecca herself was rude and imo snobbish towards a swedish journalist last year, when she questioned the reporter of her skills in english, because Rebecca refused to talk swedish. Rebecca apologized to the journalist afterwards. But its shows that she is not much better herself. Rebecca is born in Sweden and grew up there. Her mother is british, but Rebecca didnt move abroad until she was an adult. Its more or less a deathsin if you pretend that you dont remember your own language when you become famous if you are from Sweden. Everybody laughed at Dolph Lundgren when he as a 21 year old suddenly "forgot" his swedish. People made jokes about Rebecca too. Although the actor she refered to wasnt nice, i actually think she needs to learn how to be humble.. **

It's either Hugh Grant in Florence Foster Jenkins or maybe Ewan McGregor from Doctor Sleep. Both have a reputation for being grumpy or rather cruel and probably have the insecurities about getting the scenes out. Of the two, I think Hugh Grant is more likely to openly chastise Rebecca, and he worked with her 3 years before Ewan on Doctor Sleep, where she was apparently in her 'boss girl' era. So I think she took her lessons from Hugh and applied them there-on-out.

If Rebecca Ferguson had mentioned having a bad experience with 'some actor' in the past, then it would have seemed unfortunate. But this has now gone viral because of her being so specific (timeframe, 'number one on call sheet' etc.) that she narrowed it down to about 8 actors. That means her comments tar all of those actors, and put them under a very grey cloud called 'the court of public opinion'... 😒 If she still lacks the spine to name the person, she should have had the grace to keep quiet. As it is she is threatening the reputation of 7 innocents to protect one person. Cowardice.

Either Hugh Grant or Jake Gyllenhaal. Hugh Grant is very likely because he’s notorious for being a massive pain in the *ss, but he wasn’t number one on the call sheet. So assuming Rebecca’s memory is correct, then Jake Gyllenhaal is the most obvious choice because he’s also been known to be quite erratic at times
