It's ok that's everyone who starts off. A lot of building up to it is required. I'm finding myself playing adventure mode because it is WAY easier to learn. You only worry about one little character, and even then there's a lot to do.

@@Sara3346 to be fair the main menu and looking into the legends is about as easy as this is to play on the guitar. The same applies to the music that plays in game and playing the game.

Real quick, what are channels used for? Are they like ramps you make yourself, like the ones naturally on the sides of hills but dwarf-made? I’m relatively new to the game.

Each tile in Dwarf Fortress is made of two parts: a wall and a floor. A wall can be mined or removed and the floor is left behind. Digging a channel not only removes a wall, but also the floor and the wall underneath that. Hope this helps.

@@SludgeDrinker Thanks, so if I wanted to add my own flooring to a cave I'd just dig with channels instead of the mine tool and build them over the left space?

@@wolcamophone4783 There is a separate command for removing the floor only. It's not necessary to remove the wall underneath to replace the floor.

ramp removes the wall and the floor one Z-level above it, and a channel removes the wall and the floor one Z-level below it
