+Runnin My Own Ting Top Shottas Funny these places are pretty close to where I live... the big gyms are in the west unfortunately. But let's be honest, every gym in Holland is a pretty good gym. There are about 10 events every weekend throughout the country. The level of Kickboxing Arnhem (in Arnhem) is pretty high as far as I know. Olympic Gym in Hengelo, is Peter Aerts's gym if I'm right. Sokudo Gym in Hoorn is Ernesto Hoost's gym ;)

Not hating on the dutch muay thai/kickboxing. But striking isnt the same as be it all/end all under the term martial art. The russians is very big on wresling and other martial arts like Sambo and is slowly catching up on MMA, germans isnt that bad in grappling, they are also probably the epicenter of european boxing. Not saying they got the fame of the dutch striking jet, just saying that kickboxing or even striking isnt= covers all martial arts:p Guess the dutch got the advantage of being a small country with short distances to good gyms, having a very good enviroment with good trainers ect like you mentioned. To be honest, while Im not german, I got this feeling the german society as a whole is probably more conservative and less open minded to "new" things, atleast compared to the Dutch which probably is on the totaly opposite side. Thus they are probably slower to catch up to "new" things.

Erik B yes, in holland we got legal soft drugs or gay marriage or whatever u name it. very free liberal people: no limits, thats confusing for immigrants from third world countries like turkey or morocco or south americas islands. also for eastern europeans like poland or romania, it can be confusing. dutch have no 'macho culture' like southern europe, everything is allowed. with the good and bad effects of it.... where u from ?

+red8884 it's about the dutch style of kickboxing, and Ghita trained or still trains with Golden Glory, so he fights dutch style.

You know your kickboxing m8! I do miss the good old K1 days... damn i really miss them. We would have had 2 other champions, cause even in japan the judges werent so ridiculous as they are at glory... van roosmalen lost his last 2 fights and the last 1 he lost 49-46 at best. Holzken also lost to Murthel. In the old days in thailand it was bad but at least everybody knew it. This is ridiculous. Anyway i hope they can find some decent opponents fr Rico , if not... he should go on with mma. His debut fight was good.

Clash of Clans LOGO Gökhan Saki (born October 19, 1983 in Schiedam, Netherlands) is a Dutch-Turkish heavyweight kickboxer from the Netherlands, fighting out of Mike's Gym in Amsterdam. He is two-time Dutch and European Muay Thai champion, K-1 World GP 2006 in Amsterdam tournament finalist and K-1 World Grand Prix 2008 in Hawaii champion as the first ever Turkish fighter holding a K-1 tournament title. + It doesn't matter from which country you are... it's about the Dutch Fighting Style, which can be taught to everybody.

Clash of Clans LOGO Your appearance doesn't tell anything about which country you should fight for... It's not because he looks like a Turk, he should fight for Turkey, it's his decision to fight for Turkey because he feels a strong connection with his native country. This is a quote from Saki himself in a interview: "I want to make Schiedam, Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Holland famous world wide and Turkey also, I was born in Holland and I fight for Turkey, I love Turkey just as much as Holland." --> kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmh2xsmgiqq6l5c.html

+Clash of Clans LOGO gokhan saki is half dutch half turkish .. if Saki is a champion and a legend , its all about the Netherlands. he trained there , he learned everything about the kickboxing in netherlands. Can you imagine that ? you need to be respect for your country , but trust me , he will always be a dutch fighter , because he is from DUTCH FIGHT SCHOOL !... ( by the way i'm from turkey too.. )

I was wondering how much influence karate really had on dutch kickboxing. because to me it looks alot like muay thai with more hand combinations and a boxing stance. i see no karate in that whatsoever. I do understand that the pioneers were kyokushin karatekas BUT they studied muay thai and taught it. Look at modern dutch muay thai fighters like nieky holzken or robin van roosmalen. They all started in muay thai and dont use any karate techniques. look up theit first fights And what about ramon dekkers? He never did anything else but muay thai

clipdrift I do completely agree with u on this. Most of the first trainers all had experience in karate tho but throughout the years the style focussed more and more on boxing only. These days there arent a lot of fighters anymore influenced by karate. Look for Sem Schilt, Andy Hug, Glaube Feitosa or Davit Kiria. They are one of the very few karatekas in kickboxing.

@@Roycoproductions Kickboxing is historically derived from Karate. The K1 kickboxing circuit was started by Seidokaikan Karate an offshoot of Kyokushin.

Ramon Dekkers was Dutch kickboxing from Breda or Hermers gym. His trainer and step father said they did not have any Thai trainers. They derived their style by taking the best from all fighting systems be it Kyokushin, boxing or American kickboxing. By the way Mr Cor Hermings is a black belt in Kyokushin Karate
