"to just kick someone in the knee" :D :D :D First this is not "someone", then you should just practice a little bit and you will see talent could be in efficiency, explosivness, power without wasting energy, precision and timing, even with "just" low kicks. A lot of tae kwon do artist get their ass kicked while being able to spin. Of course, there are also a great amount of ko with spinning techniques in mma for example, but in the end, it's always precision and timing...
