Dutch (1991) | (Almost) Cult Classics

Ойын-сауық

John Hughes created arguably the best Thanksgiving film in 1987 with "Planes, Trains & Automobiles". But what you might not know is that he authored another Thanksgiving road trip comedy just 4 years later called "Dutch" -and it's worth a second look.

I think his acting ability because he was just channeling his uncle for Al and he's very multi cultural unlike Jay - so he's really nothing like his characters yet people treat Ed like he's off putting and close minded. It's really no different Brian Cranston whom also gets confused for his characters.

One of the things that didn't help this movie is simply calling it "Dutch"...it couldn't have helped in its marketing at the time...especially since it was also a Thanksgiving themed movie that came out in July. It pretty much banked on Ed O'Neils peak in popularity from Married With Children. Thanks for the review! Been watching this one in my family for years. I think its out of print on DVD and blu-ray...great flick. Another of the very few Thanksgiving themed movies is Home for the Holidays...Robert Downey Jr and Holly Hunter.

This is one of my favorite childhood movies. I don't care what any snobby ass "critics" say. Ed O'Neill owned every moment he was in it and had great chemistry with everyone in the cast. I'm also grateful Fox tailored their shooting schedule of Married With Children around this movie's filming. I love this movie but I would never want to give up Al Bundy for this. Never. Thanks for mentioning this was a Thanksgiving movie. I forgot that it was centered around thanksgiving. Great video!
