Thanks for the interesting video, that was a nice pitch. Maybe with the oatmeal biscuit you could break it up and add hot water to make some kind of porridge. 👍

Your video is getting better and better, can’t explain why, just love it.

Delighted to hear that you enjoy them 🍀
Despite being on the chilly side, it looked like a very nice trip indeed. I'm thinking of bringing a grand-nephew on an overnighter in a similar looking spot this summer myself. The hike up to one of those tiny lakes would takes us past a very nice waterfall (or rather series of falls) called Trollfossen (Troll Falls). Very nice looking place!

I might know a spot that would be similar to Trollfossen, I do love looking at waterfalls. All the best with your trip, it sounds class 🍀

Great Jason. Such a feel good video pal. Great experience. Also loving how good the photography and set up is. Beautiful framing and wonderful shots. Its an area I havent explored yet so will have to get down for a nosey soon.

Thanks a mill Alyn, I'm trying to use my mirrorless camera a lot more these days. There's a few nice hikes down there that would be worth the spin down, you could get a few days out of it if you had the time
Another great vid Jason, was a good laugh as always... But what was even funnier, was that I watched this at my parents on the TV, my dad is in his 80's & uses hearing aids most days, unless my mum's moaning, in which case he can switch her off😆, but when I explained that U were in Ireland, he said "oh, I wondered what language it was"😂 What a crack huh, anyway we figured out how to switch on the subtitles & he was all good after that...!🤣👍

Hi Jason. Lovely scenery at the start, it's a spectacular mountain range when it's clear. The evening meal is the highlight of camping , japeleno chese sounds very exotic 😂 and hot. An enjoyable watch. All the best 👍

Tea bags are light enough to bring a few extra. Nice videos
Excellent trip and fun times. A surefire way with the MRE is to open the pouch and cook the contents like a stew. Makes the pot a mess but will be nice and hot. If you get that meal again, mix some of the beef and beans together and cook them. Really good that way.
@RamblingOn
Ай бұрын
Ah that would have made sense to mix the beans in, I never thought of that. Hopefully I won't encounter them again 😄
Another great, atmospheric video. Great craic in your company for 20 mins. I have the X Mid Pro and I'm taking it to the Hautes Pyrenees next week, so it was reassuring to see you and the tent battered but not squashed by the wind! Keep em coming!

Great video. I really like how you secured the outer of your Durston without using the magnets. It looks way less floppy. What kind of stakes were those beefy ones that you changed to?
@RamblingOn
Ай бұрын
I did that with a bit of bungee and carabiner tied to the original tie out, it works much better than the magnet. Plus I can keep the door pegged out for some more sheltered space. These are the big pegs I used amzn.to/3K9B5Xf

@@RamblingOn Thanks! Ordering the stakes and am looking at how to tie my xmid back like you did. Just got back from a few weeks on the PCT and as per usual, am now finding so many things that would have made the trip much more comfortable.🙂
Try the Real Turmat Arctic Ration packs. Very tasty and good drinks. The Brit army packs bung you up a bit but the biscuits brown are nice. I used to get the Lithuanian ration packs when my wifes godaon was doing his national service. Theybwere good as well and came with wee solid fuel cookers. Ive tons of those ration heaters but I usually use the dehydrated stuff these days. They are easy to use. Just add water and let the chemicals do the work. Does make them heavier to carry out though. I think a lot of folks underestimate Irish mountain weather. The amount of times Ive been almost blown away and soaking up on the tops and then getting down and all yer people are in shorts eating ice cream.😂
@RamblingOn

I've just had a gawk at those, I'll have to try them out. I see them stocked in Ireland too so happy days. I'd love to try one of the 24hr ration packs, they look unreal. Maybe in the winter I'll pick up a few of those. It's very easy to get caught out by the weather in Ireland, especially when you try to focus too much on saving weight. I always over prepare now with waterproofs and layers. You just never know what the weather will do. 😄 if it's any way mild at all, shorts and ice cream because you might not get that sort of weather again for awhile

Yeah, you can often get real turmat or Bla band from Varusteleka in Sweden. Getting it over from the UK is too risky these days with customs etc. Been stung a few times that way. If Im going over to Scotland for a bit of walking, I get them sent to my sister from a site called Basecamp foods. Sometimes the Real Turmat portions can be too big for me. I've also tried the decathlon ones as they are smaller. It used to be easier to get the wayfarer food which is in a lot of the Brit 24 lhour packs but it is harder to get them now. Charles camping in Blessington used to stock them but now they have the freeze dried tactical foodpacks which I have never tried @@RamblingOn
@RamblingOn

@@BrokenBackMountains I've never tried those either, I usually dehydrate my own meals and bring those. Ah sure there's plenty of time to try the different meals. I think I've enough camping gear now to last me a life time so if I can refrain from some retail therapy I'll save a fortune. I can invest in some meals then 😄 Cheers for the suggestions, I'll check them out
Great vid 👍 Appreciate all the fiddling about with the camera shots to get it right... Your night time shots are spot on. What lens do you use?
@RamblingOn

Thanks for noticing the camera work, I use a Tamron 17-70 f2.8 it's a fantastic lens, this is the one amzn.to/3UPE2RD I'd love to go full frame but that's serious money

@@RamblingOn That's a nice lens, your night footage is the best on any camp vid I've watched... I just sold full frame canon r6, it was too bulky for me with all my kit tripod etc. I'm looking for a small camera with low f stop 1.8 - 2.8, still searching. Your vids have a great feel to them... Keep em coming. Thanks for the info. 👍

@twiggyescapes thanks a mill. I'm looking at getting a sony A7C with a f2.8 lens of some description. The sony rx100 mark 7 has 24-200mm f1.8 lens but only a 1 inch sensor and no weather sealing. Maybe a sony a6600 with the tamron lens? Sorry I get carried away with camera gear 😄 thanks again 👍

Great video.. I'm definitely gonna meet up with you and cook ya a decent dinner one of these days 😂 But please, bring the Jaffa cakes! There just is nothing to compare.. And hey, I'll bring the Barrys Gold Label too 😂
@RamblingOn
Ай бұрын
That's grand I'll carry the Jaffa's and you can carry the rest 🤣 It would be class if there was a way to pick what you wanted in a ration pack. Say for the civilian market, I'd have those bread sticks for sure they were class
Those look like US Army rations. Sometimes I'll take the field stripped version of those. The only ripoff is the tuna. Otherwise not bad but heavy unless you field stip them. I assume you're in the UK since you can't pronounce tortilla and you don't like jalapeno 😅 BTW, you got to warm up the cheese in your pocket or better in a pot of boiling water before you spread it and you won't have issues 😂

I'm working my way through the first 12 menus from the US army rations. They've been pretty good so far. Cheers for the tip on the cheese, I'll do that next time. It might just save me some hassle 👍

Loved the vid, but please don’t spread with a sharp knife on top of your leg, use anything else but a body part. In the middle of nowhere, even a small cut can go badly wrong. 👍
