Durham Rd Structure Fire 7/6/23 Penndel, PA
On scene video of a fire involving a mixed use commercial/residential structure in Penndel Borough.
Fire companies were dispatched after noon for a reported dwelling fire on the 100 block of Durham Rd. Middletown Twp Chief 244 arrived on scene with heavy fire showing from an attached deck spreading into apartment dwellings to the rear of Acosta Doors.
Engine Co. 244 arrived on the scene and went in service with hoselines to attack the fire. PECO secured the powered and as they did that and Wm Penn Engine 7 established a water supply from a hydrant on Woodland Ave; dropping a supply line to Engine 244.
Firefighters were all hands in service ventilating the structure, extinguishing the fire and performing overhaul. The fire was placed under control within a half hour. One firefighter was reported to have been treated for heat exhaustion on the scene.
All residents were safely evacuated by a neighbor who initially spotted the flames. Unfortunately it was reported that a cat did not survive.
Penndel Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Companies on scene were Middletown Township Fire Rescue, Penndel, Parkland, Newtown, William Penn, Langhorne-Middletown, Third District, Newport, Levittown #2 Fire Companies and Penndel-Middletown EMS.
This video was uploaded with the intent of local news reporting and documentation of the emergency services

That's to bad that a beloved pet was lost 😢 Glad though that all of the residents were able to get out safely. Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.
Great to see law enforcement and Fire working together
10 minutes to charge of 5 inch supply line. Sometimes you stop at the hydrant you wrap it with your supply line and drive up to the scene. Or you come up to the scene find the four closest guys and pull the hose for her feet to the rear.
Nice work gang, except for that 20’ on side 4 😂😂. Be safe……💪🏻
Great job!!!
Wonder why the first due didn't lay in
If it started on a deck, I would almost guarantee it was cigarettes put out in a flower pot. People think they are dirt they are not, they can have highly combustible products in them. I wish they would put that on that labels. I have seen 4 houses burned all at one time and several other damaged from cigarettes in a pot. It Hadn’t rained for 2 weeks, and a lot of wind that day. It carried embers all throughout the development, little fires started in everyone’s mulch.
If I see one more cilivian pull too much supply line off the back of an engine.......

@@johnexford3281 If you are accusing a civilian of pulling too much supply line and they aren't a civilian, that's not splitting hairs. And since you can't see the other end of that line you are just guessing if there was too much line pulled. Looked like the driver was there so no harm.

@@choppermike3329 OK....now read my second post beneath my first.....we're I said I understood that much supply line coming off; if the engine was bringing a hydrant for William Penns engine.......I will consider this enough explanation on my behalf....

No there were two career engines on the scene. One from Middletown and other from Newtown. Paid guys from Middletown were using the William Penn Engine 77-1

Unless they were pulling it for William Penns engine.....
Well they certainly never trained on putting up ladders.. Two guys struggling to put up a ladder one guy should EASILY be able to put up, and then it's still sketchy as heck. It's a wonder that didn't slide right out from the guy on it.

I mean...it is PA...there's not many fire departments in PA that have much for standards at all. Let alone actual trained, professional firefighters.

This is 2023, , , , Based on more up-to-date fire tactics and awareness, as well as Cancer considerations, NO firefighter should be walking around wearing burned black helmets anymore.
wonder why they didnt back the engine up a few feet --or pull a pony section of LDH ?

Nah, these "manly men" don't need no mask! That is until they all want to cry for the government to pay for their cancer treatments in 5 years!
