My wife bought me a 6-month subscription from some vinyl supplier where they send a new album each month (randomly, they ask what you like and then pick you something). They sent over the Duran Jones and The Indications first album one month AND Charles Bradley's "Changes" the next. I am so grateful for her and that record service...Those records changed my brain! I suggest watching Charles Bradley perform on the Luke Cage show on Netflix if you haven't already checked it out. I am so sad that I never got to see Charles Bradley perform live but I did not miss DJ&TI prior to covid. It's July 13, 2021 when I write this and cannot wait for their new album dropping at the end of July 2021.

Actually a very good question but sometimes comes down to who puts the pieces of the puzzle together ;-). Also some people are not comfortable with the lead 'spotlight' and prefer to just play or sing (or both in Aaron's case). Not a bad thing.. Need to also remember that ego's are often the demise of bands. Very much look forward to seeing them live this coming September (I've got my tickets!).

Totally legit update of an impressive range of classic 70s soul...from the Philly Soul w/Al Green flashes of the opening tune through to their 2nd track and, the fine Curtis Mayfield/Chicago Rodriguez/Detroit blend and, the other wonderful musical touchstones "visited" during this incredible 4-Song soulful musical journey...these folks TOTALLY get it! Bonus awesomeness for the awesomely soulful background vox from the skinny white kid on the kit!! Lead vocalist is AMAZING...a complete CHAMPION...but, that dude's background vox are PERFECT!

I like it, but why can't people do new, "of their own generation" music anymore? I mean, these days everything is either retro or it's loaded with samples. This stuff sounds like it came out in 1973. Add some crackles and a warped vinyl effect, and it would be indistinguishable.

"of their own generation" music anymore" The music of this generation sounds exactly the same ffs. They're not improving upon or being creative, it's just trash. The real music that's being played is stuff that learns from great music of the past and builds on it, like this right here. So I'll take this over the ten thousandth trap sample heavy drum looped auto tuned nonsense of today's music.
