    I'm glad you're going with the hydroboost unit! As I mentioned on the previous video, diesel engines don't produce vacuum because they don't have throttles. So, to use a vacuum booster, you'd have to add a vacuum pump.

    Yeah when he said they decided to do that for room, I’m thinking “ you’ll be doing it for more than that, since a turbo diesel does not produce a vacuum source”. And with limited space, it only makes sense to use what already works. BTW, I am also an 02 LB7 owner.

    *KYB MonoMAX* Best truck shocks ever. Largest monotube shock available without going to "customs" like Bilstein. Perfect for that Duramax. Those "blue Monroe-Matics" you have on it while you're filming are near worthless to start with. When I was still with @Strutmasters I sold David from @Hargerty 's 'redline rebuilds' a set for an old '50's Ford he couldn't find shocks for, and you'll see KYB on almost every vehicle they build nowadays.

    I think your frame reinforcement should be from the engine mounts back, because that's where you introduce the torque into the frame. And reinforcement plates should never have rectangular ends, because that's introducing stress points into the frame where it ends.

    Here is a funny: you put down the saddle fuel tank, then put one in like the ford pinto. Yeah that is safe.

  • @buzzbomb67

    @buzzbomb67

    2 жыл бұрын

    Well the problem with the Pinto, wasnt just that the tank was mounted in the rear. As well as the Pinto, MANY cars and manufacturers mounted the tank in the rear, and many had the same potential problem with the Pinto. Mustang, Maverick, Nova, and many many others, not just Fords, had insufficient (and in many cases, no) protection between the tank and the interior. In the event of some rear end collisions, the tank could rupture into the passenger compartment and if fire was involved, burn any occupants. Obviously, in a pickup, with the tank mounted below the truck bed, that isnt an issue. However a saddle tank, or worse yet, a tank mounted behind the seat, had major potential for problems.

    @@toddjensen692 Ya, I think its just the thought of the fuel tank being right there behind you. The in-cab behind-the-seat tank that many older trucks had, pre-73 (I think), would likely be the only one that would definitely be the problem. Nonetheless, the saddle tank right behind the cab would still concern me in the case of a side collision. Again, probably unfounded concern, but concern nonetheless. Whats this about a toy rocket motor, though?

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not totally anti-diesel. I can see the need for them for semis, diesel/electric locomotives, and ocean going ships. For passenger vehicles, not so much. So many people who own them install horribly loud exhausts that bother other people everywhere they go. On top of that is the stinking fumes they emit that my grandchildren have to breath.
