Dupray Hill Steam Cleaner Review

UPDATE: I no longer have the unit because it stopped working on me after 10 hours of use. Dupray was unhelpful and told me to take it to an appliance shop who then told me they wouldn't even look at it because it would be too expensive to diagnose. The whole thing ended up in a landfill. A waste of money. I'd suggest looking at another brand. I wouldn't buy a Dupray. Their customer service is basically non-existent and they don't have any customer service in the USA, it's out of Canada and you cannot talk to a person when you call, only voicemail or someone who will take a message and pass it on to a technician. For such an expensive product, they have the worst customer service of any product I've ever had a problem with.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
This video is a review of the Dupray Hill Steam Cleaner. It's a commercial grade designed unit that can be used for home cleaning or light commercial use. It heats up to 345 degrees and shoots dry steam up to 120 psi. They are difficult to find used and I looked for almost 9 months before I found mine on Ebay. I've included a link to a new one on Amazon which is the same price they sell for on Ebay. If you have any questions or comments please send them through and I'll do my best to answer them.

Dupray's next model up from the Hill is the CARMEN SUPER INOX if anyone is interested in a strictly commercial unit.

Dude... White vinegar is not a chemical... It’s an alkaline natural acid, and while its odor is to some, strong, it’s not going to hurt you if you inhale it😂 This was a great review and i took much heed to what you had to say about the steamer!!👍🏼 One more thing, I also don’t think it’s a good idea to use such an abrasive brush such as the brass bristles on tile grout because it can remove the grout. I was doing that to my tiles and eventually I had to get them re-grouted after about 2 years

@Dean Hunstock, true that white vinegar isn't a chemical, but it is a disinfectant. And while it may not hurt you to inhale it, it can sure make your nose wrinkle and your eyes water. By the way, if you read the video description, I've updated my experience with Dupray. In my opinion they do not stand behind their product and have horrible customer service. Once the until malfunctions outside of the year warranty, you can forget about being able to get it serviced. Buyer beware on this one.

@@DIYJeff It's bad that your unit failed. They are not cheap . But I have personally found that most manufacturers don't warranty products bought on eBay. If it's something major that has a warranty, I ask for the original receipt before bidding.

@@LuxAudio389 I understand the warranty issue. I knew that buying second hand. But the lack of customer service I received when trying to find a location that could service it was non-existent. Unfortunately, this expensive machine ended up in a landfill because Dupray was unwilling to provide ANY support service.

Manj Sher, I believe it would do a great job, but at that amount of cleaning I'd suggest the next step up which is officially made for commercial use. This unit is commercial grade, but more for residential. The next step up is the CARMEN SUPER INOX™ Steam Extractor. It's twice the price but would suit that type of application better. That being said, the Hill model I've reviewed would definitely be better than what you're using now. I'll put a link in the description to the CARMEN model if you're interested in finding it.

Juan Cardona, I live in Florida and do not have carpets in my home. Just laminate flooring and tile, so I haven't tried it on home carpets yet. However, the carpet in my Honda Odyssey is stained pretty bad since it's 14 years old so I could give it a try. I'll let you know how it performs once I can get the time to set it up and give it a shot. Probably a couple of weeks.

Hi Jeff, we posted your video on our facebook page. Thank you for the review! For carpets, vacuum first, and if it's a regular rug just clip a clean cloth on the floor tool. Obviously for cars you would use the smaller triangular attachment but it's the same principle. For heavily soiled carpets, you can always prespray some cleaner and let it work a bit before you steam. Good luck!

Mo 1987, $900 is s great price with new at $2,000. I paid $1,100. Just a heads up, that not long after making the video mine stopped working. I attempted to fix it and replaced several parts to no avail. Dupray was no help at all. If the unit isn’t under warranty they will not help you and have no place to send it for repair. They told me to take it to an appliance repair shop and they would speak to the shop so I tried that, but the technician said it would cost too much of his time to diagnose it. In the end it ended up in the garbage can and sent to a landfill. It was a hard thing to do. When it worked it was great, but buyer beware that there is no servicing it if it goes bad.

Mo 1987,you have to prove it’s the boiler so you would have to have an appliance repair shop verify that. The lifetime warranty is only the boiler. All other parts are 1 year, but only if you purchase new. It’s a bit of a sham.

Allen Pao, great questions. I purchased mine used on eBay so no warranty. The previous owner had cycled it through a cleaning cycle before selling it. I ran it for about 10 hours and it worked flawlessly. The first symptom was that the pump kept trying to pump water into the boiler and it started leaking all over the floor through an overfill port. Then that stopped and the then the pump wouldn't pump anymore, even with no water in the boiler. I replaced all the relays, the pump itself, and a few other parts that could have any affect on the pumping issue with no success. The sad thing is it ended up in the trash can because it was literally worthless to me. I will never purchase or recommend Dupray to anyone. But hopefully you will have a better experience than I did. I made several attempts to reach out to Dupray for help with no success. In a nutshell they said sorry, we can't help you.

The biggest difference between the expensive vs. cheap units is temperature output but almost more importantly, being able to refill while the unit is at full temperature. The cheaper units have to be turned off and wait for 20 minutes to cool down before refilling. If you have a lot of cleaning to do, it’s an important consideration as you will be losing a lot of time waiting with the cheaper units.
