26:44 Yes, the cutoff is artificially limited. The default S282 goes from 5% cutoff in the middle to 90% in the corner; the duplexes in the mod go from 1% to 75%. 34:15 I am simulating it with a front end throttle, but the "steam chest" should still be bigger on the duplexes, because of how massive the branch pipes are. RIght now, the duplex simulates the same size "steam chest" as all the other S282's. I'm hoping to fix this in the next version of Rearranged S282 (although that update has other stuff that will take some time). That should make it a little easier to handle, because the steam chest pressure will react slower to changes in the throttle. edit: ah I've just gotten to 42:14, where Hyce talks about that last point. Yeah due to some technical limitations, right now the Steam Sim mod can't tell which arrangement an S282 is set to. I'm hoping to get that working though at some point. edit 2: 48:16 that stepped throttle is a neat idea. I was hoping something like that existed, cause the S282 needs it, but couldn't find any info about it online. Might have to put that into the mod.

11:43 well unless you specifically use Sloppy Shunters mod that makes random f ups with consists generated on station as: air is not connected, chains are not connected, handbrakes are tied up *somewhere* and not on the ends of your consist. While it do sounds like ES&D shunting work, it could be tedious however.

I would be full Jeremy Clarkson mode doing this job in DV. The locomotive would be struggling to gain traction and instead of adjusting the throttle and reverser I'd be yelling at the locomotive "COME ON! GET MOVING YOU VICIOUS BASTARD!" even though everything going wrong is due to my own hubris.

rearranged s282 mod and zeibach's couplers mod have completely changed how I play the game and I love it.

I can see in some sci-fi setting that through the use of reprogramable nanotechnology some eccentric businessman would dabble in ancient steam locomotives and could do just that and more. Imagine switching from an American 4-4-0 to a 4-8-8-4 Big Boy with a press of a button.

After the switch to GPU encoding, it does look noticeably smoother.

The duplex, slipperiest of them all! a 4 cylinder (especially if its a compound) 2-8-2, 4-8-4, or 2-10-2 just makes so much more sense than a 4-4-4-4. even a 3 cylinder 4-8-4 seems like the better option. Saves millions of dollars on sand!

I thought I remember reading that the PRR T1 had a nasty habit of slipping her feet, the S1 was even worse. Though I REALLY wish they had preserved both the S1 and at least 1 T1. The T1 trust is building one from scratch though.

I think it's kinda funny to watch this and look at the sand gauge and realize it's empty way before Hyce does. No wonder it's constantly slipping, right Hyce? Edit: 40:52 I can say for certain that interaction speed in VR is not perfect, it's does leave a bit to be desired, and, in my opinion, in an attempt to simulate the force required, they made it feel a bit too unresponsive when you're trying to make small, quick movements. Either I move too many trying to get one notch, or I really have to move my hand in order to get one notch out of the throttle

RE Encoder switch: IIRC you have an AMD GPU? It does look better but there are bitrate issues. I think you may be set to a lower bitrate than is optimal for that GPU. If you have an Intel cpu with a built in iGPU you can still use that to do the encoding (it's the intel GPU not the CPU doing the work via Quick Sync Video). Otherwise it looks good, it's very hard to tell with the darkness, but there were very obvious blocks in the darker area of the video where it was just massive chunks of low bitrate artifact. But let me be clear... where there was more dynamic range things looked a LOT better, no more 16bit trees. I also suspect you could turn up the settings on the game a bit too.

For some reason after the obs fix I went to check my resolution for the video and it was forced to 480p and couldn't go higher yet it still looked good somehow Edit: nevermind fixed itself
