It's Argyll and Bute. That's the county. Bute is an island. It is where the town of Rothesay stands. You need to take a ferry over to Bute, often from Wemyss Bay, or the small ferry at Rhubodach.

Fairly sure - not at all. Not sure about Bute, but Argyll comes from Gaelic meaning coast of the Gael.
