@@Barefoot67 Absolutely. Hendrix was a good guitarist but his best asset was his songwriting, which made him popular in the first place. He wouldn't have been popular if he didn't have any good songs. Gales, on the other hand, is known primarily as an elite guitarist. People should know the difference.

Eric has been around for a long time. The "grunge movement" stalled Eric when his career was starting to launch. This "movement" moved a certain distance then stopped and died. Eric is different, he is revolutionary. He doesn't stop and die like a movement, he comes back around bigger and better than before. Welcome to the revolution!!!

um.. In between two albums, Gales served 21 months of a three-year sentence for violating the probation he received in 2006 for drug and gun charges. “I was smoking weed on the road and I didn’t want to risk them telling me to come home in the middle of the tour” because of a dirty urine sample, he said in a recent phone interview. “I just said to myself, ‘I’ll deal with it when I get home.’” So he turned himself in after the tour and was sent to prison. (He couldn’t play a guitar for his first six months of incarceration but - because of the intervention of a warden who knew who he was - eventually led a prison band.)Gales was released in March 2010, but “I got arrested again within a month,” he said. “I got caught up on Beale Street, man. I had some cocaine and some Xanax pills on me and wound up going to jail again. ... After that I made a decision that it wasn’t conducive for me to stay any longer in Memphis, Tennessee. ... I knew too many of the wrong people, and too many of the wrong people knew me.”

This has got to be the most organic guitar playing I've seen or heard in a while. Great tones, soulful, aggressive, melodic. If Jimi was still alive he would have loved this. Great player. None of that sterile shred guitar stuff we see all over youtube.

Hands down my favorite player out there right now. So unique. Literally upside down. Albert king doing Hendrix with some of the most unique melodic ideas we've heard from a guitar player in this genre for a long time. Love it.

There is something about the musical beauty of a Strat and a person that is born to bring it out that has been one of the biggest blessings of my life. Oh how I love to hear him play and sing. What a mega, mega talent. He is like the best of Jimi and Stevie Ray on steroids plus.
One of the best I’ve ever heard. He is freaking electrifying, raw, explosive and much more. Makes some the most famous guitarists seem boring by comparison. Wow.
Thank you Dunlop! Eric is a talent, and I think it is great that you are giving him a platform.

I've been following Eric's music since his first album (CD for you younger folk) titled The Eric Gales Band. Awesome guitarist. And this is an inspiring video. Thanks MXR. Made my day. Keep rockin' Eric!

Such Great Musicianship from these Awesome Players!!!👍🏾🎶♥️🎶👍🏾
This guy is so good, it's scary!! He reminds me of the late Luther Allison, who I had the privilege to see in person in a small club in Detroit. The man was nothing short of awesome and it makes you wonder how come musicians this good aren't more famous or well known, while far less talented musicians (no names mentioned) are and have been making millions? Perhaps they stay out of the limelight on purpose.

He is like sun. A constant energy emitter. I get my daily dose of energy from his guitar playing! What gem of a musician.
Good word put by Mark Tremonti(Alter Bridge) on his fb page brought me here......
I can't say enough about his ability to express his emotion through the guitar with such precision. I have played guitar since I was 11, I am now 52. I love the blues and his interpretation is a perfect example of where blues should be at this place in time. A true blues vertuoso. Thank you Eric.
I saw him live in 2016. Changed my life!
He's playing his strat truly upside down. Meaning his strings are reversed to most left handed players and prerty much all right handed ones. Hendrix flipped the a right handed guitar upside down to play left handed but still strung traditionally. Albert King and this dude are the only two I've seen who do this. This guy sound very Hendrix influenced to me. But i havent heard him playing flying V yet. What a great talent!

Dave Philpott There're a couple of axe guitar shredder musicians who play like this, like, there's this bloke who plays w/ Eric Clapton sometimes I think who plays left handed w/ upside down strings, and the best part about that guy imo is that he plays LEFT HANDED Strats, but he flips the strings upside down..which's actually kinda like Albert King. I also saw this guy on KZread shredding gnar several years ago, I've never been able to find him tho, he was playing some cik metal shredding stuff, and he was playing left handed w/ upside down strings

Dave Philpott Saw Eric a couple years ago and was fortunate to get a front row center table. If I remember what he said correctly, he isn't lefthanded. He flipped the guitar over so he could be right across from the guy who first started showing him some chords. That is my recollection anyway. Not to lump him in with the Hendrix clones, but you'll especially enjoy his Hendrix sets because he voices chords and such just a little bit differently, so it's definitely Eric and not an attempt to just copy Jimi for a set. Of note, Jimmy Haslip plays 'upsidedown', too, on bass. Does make you wonder if it's the rest of us that are actually playing upsidedown......
That lick from 7:03-7:13 is out of this world
