Ayo best of luck to dude in the military. I did 5 years myself. Tell him to be sure to document any injuries he gets with his doctors! Whenever hes done with the military they dont take care of you if you dont! I didnt report all my injuries until I was getting out and was denied for some of them that happened while I was active and I wish someone had told me otherwise. I also dicked around and didnt do college and save as much as I could while I was in. I still turned out fine and did my college after I was out, but super important that he takes advantage! of tuition assistance for military as well as something called a The Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) Hope he is safe, and hope he has a fulfilling journey.
