Dunkey was shilling for the game, TLOU2 is a story based game....so you can easily make judgements on the story from seeing the story leaks....Dunkey completely strawmanned the argument just because his girlfriend is an SJW and probably forced him to play the game.....also Dunkey says Tommy dies but Tommy doesn't die so Dunkey probably didn't even finish the game.....and yet everybody is too scared to call him out

I guess it comes down to that I respect his opinion but not how he's acted. To be clear his actions were contradictory to statements he's made, disingenuous and poorly researched, strawmanned and used attempts at comedy to make issues seem trivial while making another video to continue strawmanning and being disingenuous. Agreed man I respect dunkey as a critic however in that video he’s says some things that are kinda stupid and he kinda indirectly tells us that we’re idiots for not liking the game. For example “you have to turn on your brain and actually try to sympathize with her (Abby)”. he kinda tells us we’re idiots for not liking Abby by saying this but even if you don’t think that it’s still a dumb thing to say. In good writing you don’t try to sympathize with a character it happens naturally. if we forced ourselves to sympathize with characters then all characters must be good according to dunkey. I respect dunkey as I think he’s a smart guy but he said some stupid shit in that video.

Clicked on the video expecting you to be even a little upset with what dunkey said in his video, and left liking the video because you actually get it. He didn't hate on anyone in the video, and you understood that. Props

If you don’t agree with either sides in full your viewed as a traitor and pretty much torn apart like a piece of meat and it’s sad and pathetic, no one wants to think for themselves or find it comfortable people think differently then them on shit as frivolous as video games. As long as you aren’t spreading hate, feel free to think and feel as you want, it’s good for a society to have multiple perspectives on things and it’s even better when people can express it because without discourse how can we as a people grow?

Dunky does kinda bait the controversy. He lumped reactionists with clips of people who had actually played the game for hours and had a personal take on it. Every negative take was lumped into one bag and dismissed by his video. Does that affect me much? Not at all. I already knew the game had merits despite being overall unappealing. Frankly even if the story was amazing I still wouldn't have bought it because I don't like naughty dog style gameplay. I can respect Dunky's opinion but he, intentionally or not, disrespected the opinions of those who didn't like the game. Something that wasn't necessary for giving a positive review of the game.

Do you see the paradox in the "all opinions must be respected" statement? It's an impossible standard that we still foolishly believe can be lived up to. Spoiler alert: it's literally impossible for everyone to respect your opinion and you should never assume such. There's a dislike button for a reason. Don't blame people for using it if that's their opinion.

@@vanajaravindar1300 he tore FF7 remake to shreds because of it but apparently the last of us 2 does the same thing but gets a pass. the only difference is that FF7 remake uses that filler to let us experience character interactions and growth and flesh out the personalities of major and minor characters alike, while the last of us 2 uses it to contradict and break down everything the first game stands for and destroys its characters. dunkey used to not do reviews too much, and i dont think it's a coincidence that these days he mostly does newer games where he always gives controversial opinions. his reviews used to be a little more serious in the long run (unless the video itself is blatantly meant to be a joke) but they're obviously all a complete joke now. I can't take them seriously.

My problem with his review was he literally said "people don't even know why they dislike the game". Dismissive comments like these are the exact opposite of what you defend in this video.

Well not even just that. I dislike the game because the entire fucking game's story is a garbage fire. Joels death is icing on the cake but the rest of the game's plot is ass too. To the point i dont even care if they killed Joel or not. The rest of it sucks. It's a very pretty game. I will say the graphics are fantastic. But man, the story is absolute ass. The whole way through. Just bad writing and story telling. I disliked Dunkey's video because like, he just thinks people hates the story for Joel's death? Man the entire rest of the story is a fucking 13 year old's fan fiction revenge story about "mah revenge bad". Im not morally reprehensible for disliking his video cuz i just disagree with Dunky. Dunkey even has a video explaining how he has very specific taste in games, and how you should always weigh a review against the author's personal preferences. He admits that there are great games that he doesn't find fun, and vice-versa. Dunkey is not an authority on what games are good and bad. No reviewer is. All he's doing is giving his opinion as honestly as possible, and letting you disregard it if you want.

I don't think everyone disliking the video is instantly this crazy person who is obsessed with Dunkey having the "wrong" opinion. Some are, for sure, but I think most people used the dislike button because they thought he looked over some things and just didn't like his approach. Perhaps my understanding of of the use of the dislike button is different to others, but I think it can be used as a more constructive way of what a community thinks of a video itself. It's different to people planning to mass dislike a video or game by telling others to do it on reddit or some shit, I think the dislikes just represent how some people didn't appreciate how Dunkey overlooked some very negative parts of the story while saying that the community was upset over Joel's death, when in fact it was HOW Joel died that was the reason others were upset

Most people stand with him as a meme rather than actually believing his side of things, I think. What really kind of gets to me is when people mock those who click the dislike button. As if you have to be this godless caveman to dislike something that most people probably like. "Ugh who would dislike this." I was on the opposite side of the equation just a few months ago when RE3 remake came out. So many people were upset about it between Muta and countless others, but I came out of it with high praise for the enemy diversity, changes to higher difficulties, the story, and even how they handled Nemesis itself. Dunkey loves his ND games and he gave convincing reasons why at least HE would like TLOU part 2, so I can't exactly act surprised, let alone act betrayed about all of this.
