I haven't tried the continued movement house rule yet but adding a healing surge definitely helps without making it too easy. a lot of times especially solo play I'll either win or lose on the last Hero Phase which makes the game interesting. It's one game that can be fun to lose lol Sort of like a video game in that sense. which of course this is based on 4th edition D&D RPG and people say it is a board game video game card game so this Adventure system lends itself to the distilled rules set well. I bought all 4 current games in the system after watching a lot of youtube videos ; Each for under $40 shipped and any tax. 2 of them brand new. I want to do a vid using all 4 games next month after I've played these bit more. I also started to make custom monsters and PC's since they don't include Warlocks or Hexblades (which in RPG are single target arcane strikers so I have to keep that in mind in terms of targeting, range, and effect)

Still a great review. As a player who was always the DM, these games give me a lot of enjoyment. They still feel very much like D&D except I get to be a hero either solo or with a group. Team play is a definite must also as you encounter much more in an hour than normal gameplay. Nice review!

Thank you. There's still something charming about this system. I've had the hankering to go back and play some of these lately.

Really enjoyed this video. Thank you. First time I have seen one of your vids or perused your channel & very much appreciate the informal, yet informative approach offered. Nice to get a review where someone isn't screaming into the camera overtly excited plying crap humour & whizz bang adobe after effects, or the opposite, with a droning, boring whinger filming it in shakey cam tungsten bulb stained blurro-vision while his wife is down the shops & the new baby is left screaming in the background. You have naturally found a great format & style. Consider me subscribed sir ;-) & I shall now venture onto your other reviews.

Quick question, Me and my wife are looking at getting into D&D (been fans of RPGs for years but never really played any board game or pen and paper ones) We have just been bought this for a christmas present this year and was wondering if we created our own characters using the 4th ed players handbooks would it be possible to string the scenarios together and play it as a campaign? or part of one? Just wondered if there's anyone out there that has done that?

If you check BoardGameGeek, I think there was some discussion of this. It's not something I've tried. But, you could just use the random encounters and monsters (along with the cool tiles and minis) and just add in your own story and flavor and use the 4e rules for resolving encounters. I'm sure it's not a smooth transition, but I bet it could be done. I've got all the D&D board games and just play through each adventure without 4e rules and just use the standard game rules. I'll fill the story in myself when needed :)

Hey great video! I just picked this up at the swap meet for $15 bucks (and it came with 2 full DnD dice sets!) I can't seem to find the rules summary you mentioned from BGG.. Do you have a link to it?

Doh! Don't know why the link wasn't in the description. I updated the description with the link. It's also the most thumbed file on BGG for the game. Enjoy!

This game with Ashardalon, Drizzt and other D&D minis could actually be mixed and modified which could give you a lifetime of enjoyment! So I recommend you do buy all 3 =)

"I did it for a couple of months in college..." Too funny. I almost spat out my coffee all over the monitor screen. Yes, I would fall into that category too. I like Ravenloft as well because its a cooperative board game and not an RPG.

Would this be a good next step, beyond Dungeon! the board game? I'm looking to expand beyond common board games, and will be picking up Dungeon!, and likely one or two other dungeon creeper, rpg-like games. I will also be looking into picking up the Pathfinder beginner box, but I will be able to take a good look at the contents, as well as the Pathfinder books, since our library has these already. I am also interested in themed RPGs, such as Through the Breach, Iron Kingdoms, and the ones by Games Workshop. I have minis already from Warmachine, so they would likely work with any of these games, but would be perfect in Iron Kingdoms. Also going to have a look at the Star Wars RPG and others when I go to the game store again. Thanks for the video!

I don't play a whole ton of traditional RPGs but I've heard great things about D&D 5th Edition as a great intro RPG. This game will work as a great RPG board game but give a look at Descent 2.0 and the upcoming Star Wars: Imperial Assault based on the Descent system. I also enjoy Mice and Mystics which is a very fun and light RPG board game.

Drive Thru Review Descent is one of the other boxed games on my list to check out... I will certainly look into Mice and Mystics. Any recommendations on other, non RPG games that you think I should consider? I'm looking at Catan(Star Trek), Pancemic, etc. We just picked up Star Trek Attack Wing and Zombie Dice, both look to be great fun. Looking into other quick games, for kids, as well as for all ages, and also adding to our common games selection as well. Thanks again. Happy Thanksgiving!

Isaiah Furrow Happy Thanksgiving. There are SO many to choose from these days. It's like throwing darts into a pool. You seem to be into fantasy and sci-fi style stuff, so I would recommend Defenders of the Realm over Pandemic. I still enjoy both. I have Star Trek Catan. That's probably my favorite Catan, just for the extra character abilities that speed the game up a bit. Two amazing co-op games that work well with kids and adults are Forbidden Desert and Forbidden Island. Forbidden Desert is actually on Tabletop today! So it's worth a watch.
