    How you end the game must also be quite a tough choice. You either have to set fire to the game or turn off all the lights and have to play it again in complete darkness.

    Demon's Souls had notable frame rate issues, particularly in the Valley of Defilement and the later parts of Boletaria when more than 4 enemies were on screen at once.(the on PS3 bit doesn't matter as there are no other options) Though Demon's Souls still had better frame rate and was cleaner and tighter than Dark Souls 1(I assume because DS1 was built as a multi-platform title) DS1 had a much more interesting artistic world that distracted you from the graphical shortcomings though.

    the boss only should have his signature move in the deck a certain amount of times, there should be a break in his attacks, unless you are alluding to the video game... that just means your actions have him stuck in that loop, don't do that.

    Nice, I DM for a D&D game, definitely gonna have to look into this as a possibility. Seems to fit best for something like a golem or elemental, something that is aggro, but not too 'smart' so it doesn't change up it's tactics much.

    I feel like finesing your opponents position is to replicate one of the most important parts of the Souls series that while rarely spoken is subconsciously known, the positioning of enemies and your character based on your build. More than stamina management or even shielding and blocking positioning means the most, by pushing in the video game just enough to gall your enemies into range while exposed would be hard to replicate in a board game so this player influencing of the enemies in the board game is the closest we can get.

    I made custom difficulty for this game (which is very un-Dark Soul) to make playing the game with friends and family more bearable: 1. Easy mode: double the number of souls obtained. Activation is alternated by model and model, so one enemy model activates and then a player activates. 2. Normal mode: standard rule 3. Hard mode: lost health is not healed after clearing a tile

    Tommy Faust I'm not a massive board game fan but £90/$120 does seem somewhat standard for a game of this type. Also, I think it's the heavy duty printed components that are a large part of the cost. In this case they were all done in Germany so are of a higher quality than might be expected had they been done in China or the like, but that obviously has a cost implication. Also the fact that the thing weighs in at 3.5kg means that transport costs are going to make up a larger percentage of RRP than might be expected. The actual cost of injection molding some PVC figures is probably one if the smaller portions of the overall costs.

    This is exactly what I'd expect it to cost. High quality minis, cards and card punchouts, not to mention the work that's gone in to the rules and balance. These types of games are worth the cash

    The minis were cast in China, as were the cards. The character boards and cards were cut in either Indiana or Germany, depending on where the game's destination was.

Also, people say it's very "trial and error" and, therefore, "difficult", but if you're careful and pay attention to your surroundings, it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

You never feel it would be easier to just spent 5 minuets farming, then use the weapon you want to use? Or when you want to get into the SL120 PvP sweetspot, you just play through half the game waiting for it to happen by itself? Or when you need souls to buy titanite chunks to upgrade your latest weapon to +10, you don't speed that up? Get the fuck out of here with your "real fans don't grind" bullshit.

    Consumable souls bridge the gap for when you need a quick level up or two to use a weapon or piece of armor. Farming beyond that is intentionally setting out to break the balance of the game (which was acknowledged when DS2 stopped enemies from respawning after 7 kills)

  • @lluisrodriguez2212

    @lluisrodriguez2212

    7 жыл бұрын

    Matt so using what the game gives you to your advantage is breaking the balance of the game? I remember my first time playing pvp for real, going to the forest with Alva and stuff, and I felt very frustrated to be invaded by people with way better gear and equipment. If I wanted to have a chance, I had to farm. And by farming I eventually upgraded the Claymore to +15 and my armor and finally started to do better. So farming is crucial in some situations and it can't be breaking the game balance, because most people only farm to upgrade gear or get to SL120 to do pvp. I get your point tho that if you just go for PVE then yeah farming isn't needed.

    I like the boss moveset repeating idea, it simulates in game boss combo's and movesets rewarding people who pay attention, but I feel like it might be a bit too simple? It could be they decided to not overcomplicate bosses since they want the board game to be as easy to understand as possible since the difficulty is going to be a problem already for getting sales. However one thing they could do is have two sets of boss moveset cards with a coin or die that decides which moveset to use for how many turns. Basically giving the boss two combos or movesets they can alternate between you have to keep in mind further simulating the few combos bosses in game have

    The stat requirements for a lot of the items don't make sense, like the miracle force - requiring intelligence. Plus much more unnecessary int and faith requirements for some weapons, like they never played the video game. Also no parry mechanics? I do like the endurance bar. Just did my first playthrough with some friends and it was definitely fun. I give it a 7.5/10 for some things that I want to change (house rules) to make it just slightly more like the video game. If you are a fan get it! Also no parry dice? Parrying is usually the most effective and rewarding action in the game.

    After playing this a couple times and understanding the rules and not having to refer to the manual, it only took about 45 min to get to the miniboss 4player game. It really only takes over 2 hours when you're learning, referring to the manual and realizing your strategies didn't work. So even in the boardgame you have no choice but to GIT GUD.
