The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), Souheila Yacoub (“The Braves,” “Climax”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).
“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Present A Legendary Pictures Production, A Film By Denis Villeneuve, “Dune: Part Two.” The film is slated for a March 1, 2024 release in theaters and IMAX nationwide and internationally beginning on 28 February 2024, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I cannot express how impactful Dune has been in my life. I left the theater from Part 1 nearly in tears. It instantly became my absolute favorite film and still is to this day. Almost nothing has come close to topping it, but I think Part 2 might just do that.

I was fortunate enough as a young lad to come across the novel perusing the covers of novels in the Science Fiction section of a Waldenbooks store. The novel has had untold repercussions on my life and my love of and for the genre of Science Fiction. I was open to the world of Star Wars, Star Trek, Blade Runner, Akira, Narnia and Xanth. It has all been such a wonderful ride and I think back to that wonderful day that I decided to take home Dune by Frank Herbert and to my mom who let me spend my allowance on a Science Fiction book.

Is it really that good? One of the few major blockbusters I skipped in the last few years since the trailers didn’t sell it for me and nothing could live up to the novel.

I watched the David Lynch version as a kid and although the studio executives cut it into a hot mess, I still prefer that version. The current version makes a lot of changes to the dialogue from the book and I felt the changes didn't improve it.

@@danielscritchfield2011 I hate to admit it but it is really really true to the book in that way. It was all a big buildup to this there too. I can see how it bores a lot of people its like if Lion King was split in 2 with the first just ending with Simba running away. Its just not a conventional story structure. But fans love it for staying accurate.

Big L for Denis Villeneuve if Alia is absent ....
Chani literally only had one fight in the books and it was single combat with a challenger to Paul, that she only did to stop the challenges because no one wanted to be killed by a woman. Why is she fighting in armor at the end as if she's a part of the main battle? Tf are you doing Villeneuve?

The books imply she was fighting with him at the end, confirmed by Frank Herbert in a letter. Fremen women are warrior women as described in the chapter where the Harkonnen talk about their assault on the Sietch. Please keep modern politics out of it.
@Ki_Adi_Mundi
3 ай бұрын
@@flodekmovies No they only imply that she was brought along afterwards, regardless of what Herbert may or may not have said years later in a personal letter. And the chapter you mentioned had the Emperor describing his Sardaukar's assault on Sietch Tabr, where almost all the _women, children, and old people_ were left during the main battle and where Chani would have been if she didn't go to visit Paul in the south and have to revive him after he drank the Water of Life. Fremen women are fierce, but they do not go to battle. Try actually reading the book and then tell Villeneuve to keep modern politics out of it. Because he's the one injecting it into Dune with race/gender swaps that break the lore and girl-boss rewrites like he's obviously done with Chani, who was only ever a supporting role character not a protagonist.
