The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), Souheila Yacoub (“The Braves,” “Climax”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).
“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Present A Legendary Pictures Production, A Film By Denis Villeneuve, “Dune: Part Two.” The film is slated for a March 1, 2024 release in theaters and IMAX nationwide and internationally beginning on 28 February 2024, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

    I like the fact that the shots are dirty. Reminds me of LOTR trilogy. Movies nowadays are so clean and so "perfectly" made that it's hard to believe and immerse yourself to the character's world.

  • @----ic6pw

    @----ic6pw

    I hope it's not like LOTR. I think the second two LOTR movies were mostly never ending 'epic scale' fight scenes (and not very realistic ones). Dune part 1 was a lot deeper, focused on the atmosphere and the characters and the drama. A bit more mature.

  • @ManSeekingMeaning

    @ManSeekingMeaning

    3 ай бұрын

    @@----ic6pwHe was clearly talking about the cinematography and he’s right. Greg Frasier is akin to the late, great Andrew Leslie in that he dirties up the screen and makes it feel lived in through his lens choices, his blocking and framing of objects close by, and allowing the dynamic elements to interact with the lens, etc. It makes the film feel more like Lawrence of Arabia or Return of the King and less like your sterile and plastic looking typical major blockbuster these days. Also, no one in their right mind thinks that The Lord of the Rings is less mature than Dune or vice versa. Two amazing worlds (and two masterful adaptions) can exist alongside one another without hitting the other down.

Stephen King's The Green Mile, Cormac McCarthy No Country For Old Men an there's another I'm forgetting. I thought those movies did justice to the books but usually I can't do it, if I read the book first I generally don't like the movie.

I loved it so much I bought the next two books and read those over the summer. No Idea how many times I've read them since. He still has my original copies from the 70's, I found some near mint copies of the same as well at a used bookstore. They're on their last legs. I have to see about getting him to go to the movies with me.

    I haven't seen attention to detail that matches a book like this since the opening scenes of Fellowship of the Ring over 20 years ago. Part 1 was fantastic, this looks like it's raise the bar even higher. Starting to wish that he'd been given 3 movies so that part 1 could have been fleshed out further!

    But in the book, the worm approaches on the surface and is like a cliff. Paul runs up, inserts both hooks, has to stand against the worm and pull on the hooks to open the segment and the worm rolls up bringing Paul up. In this... the worm goes below Paul and he kinda falls onto the back of the worm. Hokay Dennis. Watch the 1984 Dune, the worm hooking scene is mostly correct. Big difference though, falling on it rather than hooking it low and riding it up.

    Just heard New Yorker film reviewer Justin Chiang's reductive review of Dune Part Two, where he casually gives a spoiler filled synopsis of the entire movie. Ultimately claiming that Villeneuve's direction lacks depth, and ends up insinuating that David Lynch's version is better. What an unbelievably inept review. I've seen the film twice now, will see it a third time this weekend, and as a 58 year old film fan, I can honestly say that Villeneuve has pulled off a masterpiece. A film that beautifully compliments the novel, with characters that feel perfectly cast. I haven't felt this satisfied with a film in many years. I cant wait for Part Three, which I assume will be Dune Messiah. See this in IMAX if you can, it's worth it.

Guides drive down them in Land Rovers so you can hear the noise clearly. The sound comes from air spaces between the grains of sand. No giant worms, though. If you're lucky, you might see desert elephants.
