Dumping The Corvette Engine Porsche for This 911 Turbo?!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My brother's LS3 swapped, twin turbo Porsche 911 c2s ruffled some Porsche fans feathers earlier this year. Custom fabricated 62mm turbos helped his Porsche 911 make almost 950rwhp. As much as the car was enjoyable and fast, my brother had his eyes on another Porsche at the shop.
This recently rebuilt Porsche 911 Turbo captured his attention the moment it showed up at the shop. Carrington recently rebuilt the previously blown up car using an engine that Lee C Parts had at the shop. Leaving the business in a very favorable position with the finances on the Porsche 911 Turbo. After driving it once, he was hooked. The only thing the 911 Turbo needs is more power though! With the help of the team from AIM Perfromance in Jew Jersey, we set out to solve that issue!

Those little baby turbos are so cute! The LS Porsche would have been more reliable and much cheaper to repair when needed as well as easier to build higher horsepower without worrying about destroying a 50 thousand plus dollar engine. It would have been cool to see the LS Twin Turbo Porsche race the Yellow Porsche.

@@sutherlacd27 LS engines a pretty darn reliable it’s all the noobies that barely know anything about engines that buy all sorts of upgrades from the internet that really don’t know how to spec out an engine and then install the parts themselves, take it out to race then blow it up. Whereas the biggest majority of Porsche tuners blow their engines up with just a few upgrades and then have to spend 20-60 thousand getting it rebuilt and upgraded just to blow it again within a year or so. For that kind of money I could rebuild my 1500hp LS several times. Besides I have nothing against Porsche. Years ago I was not a Porsche fan and in fact found them rather ugly as well as sound like absolute crap. As I’ve gotten older I’ve started to gain a big respect for them. In fact if I were to ever buy a super car it would almost certainly be a Porsche. I heard an aftermarket exhaust the other day that gave the car a deep almost V8 sound without being too loud. Needless to say I was rather impressed.

@@P-J-W-777 I agree LS engines are quite reliable. I've owned 3 of them and modified each one without issue. You're also right that most failures come from bad mod selections or tuning. But the same thing applies to Porsche mods. The percentage of 911 turbos that are modified is pretty similar to the percentage of LS engines that are modified. 911 turbo engine failures are very rare even with mods. It does happen occasionally but it's not common. And it typically only happens when the mods are pushing the upper limits of the bottom end capability....600ft lbs of torque on the 996 and 997.1 is the max reliable limit on the stock bottom end for example. It's possible to squeeze out a bit more using a torque limiting tune where max torque doesn't hit until 4k+ rpm. That same engine though has several cars over 500k miles on the original engine. One is near 700k miles. Full bolt ons and upgraded turbos with good tuning and maintenance and they will last 200k+ miles no problem. As reliable as the LS is they struggle to hit 200k miles once they are pushing 700-800hp.

Just because the CEL stops flashing doesn't mean the problem is gone it just means the computer can't see it anymore and no it won't throw a code as the sensors are fine, and in range for now.

You should have stuck with the LS. You sacrificed the driving experience and utility of a driver for a future profit that you can't drive often if you want to retain that future value.

@@vondrelleraven4380 if you want to get a Porsche join the boards and ask questions. Besides the groups who own the newest gen 911 turbo, gt3, etc the community is almost always super helpful. Best car community I've ever seen. Picking the right Porsche for yourself is highly dependent on what you specifically want from the car. They're all very different as crazy as that sounds.

why not putting even bigger turbos on there and make 950hp without e85? this turbos are small af tbh, and when you have 950hp without e85 the car will be soooooo much faster WITH e85 ^^^

-Not in for the rivalry version of Scrape Life. -I just watch to see how things go together and how you do it. -I guess if some people watch the same channel and the same kind of stuff they get bored. -Not me. If I want drama and tension I will go back to my TV. -I have owned 3 Porsches, 1958 Super 356-A in 1968, SC in the middle 80's, and my RestoMod-Outlaw that I designed and had build to my exact specs -one-of-a-kind in a world. In a world of copy, copy and ....copy some one else's stuff. -It doesn't bother me AT ALL with the Chevy engine. It is still a Porsche. Just content and interesting. - What is shocking is that other worker in the shop is now the main "speaker". I think they all do a good jabbing. - Want to get more eyes on your site, more hits, thumbs up, likes? -How about women helping out in the shop with no braws, big D-spark plugs and tight T-shirts...BUT... pick very smart women(s) who really know cars and then just never have the guys in the shop be on TV ever again. Smart women are sexy and they would present everything is a slightly, new, different and interesting way that men don't. - Back to the show.... -I like the details about the up-grade for the turbos and turbos in general. -My car doesn't have them and I didn't care that I didn't get it. My shop said for old Porsches (my year1986 911) turbos burn out cylinders. Myth or Truth? -Parts off the core to the new turbo. -I would have taken a wire wheel or something more aggressive to get a shine back on that old part to match the new shine. Shiny parts make the car go faster. Myth or Truth ;-) -Your hair used to fly around your head in all direction and land wherever it wanted to before you were the main face of the video. Looks like your hair is a little bit "stylin". -BIG ASS FAT TIRES! -The back tires on my '86 are about almost 12". 3-piece rims allows miracles to happen! -I do hill climbs. 12" HUGE advantage on the curves/turns! -Being honest, the new rims look a lame, and odd looking. The Truth sometimes feels good, other times...NOT. -Buckets. Do they have adjustments to tilt back, go up and down if not they are a tiring bucket seat that will kill you back on long drives. When my wife and I travel to different cities and states I look down at the the ground more than most people. -Why?? -Look at 17:13 on the video counter and you will see by. -I photograph all things on the ground but mostly what others call "man hole" covers. Look at this stunning, detailed cover right outside your garage!! Fking stunning! Just think someone had to design this and manufacture it. Why wouldn't they just order a plain blank one without any design; cheaper. Because beauty needs to be expressed and people crave it; at least those people who have a soul..
