1:22 Well, let’s talk about that, as I’ve certainly drawn *my* own conclusion…and I was pulling for the Blue Devils to win this game, as Coach K-Law is practically family, having played at Tennessee while I was there. But the fact she refused to answer the question about the free-throw disparity indicates she blames the refs for it. I respectfully disagree, as from what I saw, she had no low-post game to speak of: no players willing to plant themselves in the lane in order to score. Most times her players would run into the lane for a layup, and if they missed, they left it for someone else to rebound. Or they’d throw something up at the basket while flying out of bounds, or cross the lane with a turnaround jumper that rarely went in. Basically, her post players acted like they were trying to avoid contact, and you don’t get to the free-throw line that way. SC’s bigs, on the other hand, dominated the paint with first-, second-, and sometimes third-chance points. K-Law played under Pat Summit, who stressed two things over all else: defense and rebounding; so she has to know her team didn’t show up in the latter category yesterday, which also hurt them at the FT line, as the longer you stay in the lane to get a rebound, the greater the chance you get fouled. K-Law is now in her fourth season as head coach at Duke, which means she’ll be evaluated differently from now on, since the team is full of her recruits. So now’s the time for her to learn that real success begins with holding yourself accountable for your team’s losses.

Is the coach saying that referees favored South Carolina because Duke only had 2 free throws and Carolina had 23 free throws?

a team that rarely drives the lane (not counting wide open layups) doesn't get trips to the line. the offense was pull-up jumpers, 3's and the occasional big beating kardoso down the floor for a layup. same reason sc (one of the best shot blocking teams in the country, only got 3). give gamecocks credit for playing positional defense and not reaching-in or making other silly fouls.

Trying to allude to the refs being the cause of their loss when Duke got away with countless fouls is a choice. Not sure how she expects foul calls when her team refuses to drive to the basket or step foot in the lane

Is she actually claiming that the refs favored SC with the fouls and freethrows? I mean .... SC hit more shots, took down more rebounds, had more fast break points and hit key shots when it mattered. And she is claiming the refs gave the game to SC calling fouls?

Coach Lawson did not really say anything about the fouls because she is smart enough not to burn bridges. You can tell she wasn't happy with the call differential... but right after a game a wise coach waits till they review the game video. Coaches know they don't see everything... we are emotionally involved just like the players.. so sometimes what feels like an officiating issue turns out to be not as bad as you feel after the game. Coaches are not fans... we don't get to act like fans... we need to look as objectively as we can and then decide what we can control and what message we want to give to our players/staff. Duke is someone to watch out for right now.

After the foul comments Fluke needs to be added to the non-conference schedule every year. Gamecocks love to exorcise the blue devils from the state up north.
