Eddie is the one character they should NEVER have killed off. He’s one of the few characters who ISN’T a complete stereotype and is actually a very multi-dimensional and deep character. He actually has a personality and felt much more realistic than all of the other characters. One of the only characters I felt like had good character development, apart from Steve. He felt like the most realistic and likeable character in the entire show, by far, for these reasons. He had such main character energy. I’m so disappointed in his death - and on top of that, his death was so meaningless and there didn’t seem to be any good reason for him to run out to die that way when it wouldn’t have saved anyone else from dying anyway if El hadn’t stopped Vecna in the nick of time. And everyone apart from Dustin acting like nothing even happened after he died and only Dustin mourning him just felt so off.

I agree that he's a great character and they definitely need to find a way to bring him back! Where I have to disagree is the no good reason for him to go back and fight. We all know he was sick of running. He couldn't do anything to save Chrissy, but this he could do. I whole heartedly believe that him going back distracted the demobats from realizing they could get into the trailer and in turn, go through the portal to the real world where who knows how many people they could have killed; the first one most likely being Dustin since he was close to the portal. It also kept them from going back to Vecna's mansion after the fight ensued between Robin, Nancy, Steve and Vecna. Idk, I think he did a lot more than people realize by going back like that, even if it felt pointless at the time.

Somehow someway Eddie has to come back. He's an amazing character and Joseph did such an amazing job. So well liked and well loved.

If the Duffer Brothers don’t bring Eddie back for season five, there should at least be some kind of memorial scene for him- where Dustin, Nancy, Steve, and Robin set up a small funeral to honor Eddie. I would like to see at least that (if they don’t bring Eddie back) because that “two days later” scene in the finale made *ZERO SENSE* because we didn’t even see Steve, Nancy or Robin react to Dustin telling them that Eddie is dead.

With Dacre he did do some press and interviews but he did more in season 2 where he was a new character and people wanted to know the actor but he was in it for more than one season whereas Joseph had his character killed off and introduced in the same season

"Season 5 is about the original group coming back to Hawkins" yeah, but i want Eddie though...

They need to bring Eddie back for season 5. Just his character alone had such a huge impact on me. I would literally trade any of the other characters just to get him back and I really don’t think I could watch season 5 if he wasn’t in it.

Don’t recreate another GOT fiasco. The fans essentially ruined the ending of GOT because they were afraid they’d piss off the fans. Though I think the Duffer Bros would be smart enough to stick to their original plan. Don’t get me wrong though, I absolutely love Eddie. But he basically served his purpose in terms of character development.

I loved Eddie he’s my favorite part of the season but despite that I’m ok with him not coming back if he doesn’t. His arc was very well written and dying a hero’s death is a perfect ending for the guy who said I’m Not a hero and I always run

They obviously didn't realize what a phenomenon Eddie was going to become. On paper, they might not have thought he was that special, but Joseph Quinn played the hell out of that role. He made the world fall in love with what the writers saw as a disposable character. Now they need to seriously course correct. I hope they do.

Honestly I wasn't suprised Eddie died, but I really wanted to see more of him...such a great character that sums up the prejudice of The Satanic Panic of the time. On the flipside I do not think Max should have survived, I think that was a cheap save while killing Eddie...although he had an epic and character affirming end, was an easy kill for the writers. I wish Eddie lived and Max died...I feel like that would have made more sense.

Also the Duffer brothers just did the same shit that they've done before, the new character died and a fake out with an established character. Eddies death felt cheap because it was empty and he had no reason to die, if he lived there wouldn't have been any consequences, and Max's death felt cheap because it only stuck for 5 freaking minutes and Hawkings still went to shit even though her "death" was crucial to the Upside-down being opened to the real world.

My theory is he is going to come back as a vampire, or something similar… hear me out! In the first episode, in the d+d scene where they did a hint to Eddie’s death and the Metallica scene, a character is mentioned in the campaign: Kas. This character fought with a sword and shield (like Eddie), and died. He then came back to ‘life’ as a vampire bc he was killed by a demobat……. Deja vü anyone? Also, (I think it was on Eddie’s jacket) the brothers indicated towards the Iron Maiden album Somewhere in Time, which is filled with song titles that can be used to explain a situation where Eddie is alive in the upside down (eg. The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, A Stranger in a Strange Land, Wasted Years, Deja vu etc.) A coincidence? I think NOT! Often, when there is detail in the show about the opening d+d game, it usually reflects the shows ending. Think back to season one…..

also his bat tattoo i think is a foreshadowing of his actual fate just a thought tho. i’ve been a big fan since season 1 and i personally think the way they just made eddie’s story the whole duration of season 4 which was originally supposed to be 12 episodes and not 9 but the pandemic fucked it up they really shouldn’t have focused on eddie as much as they did just to kill him. i loved eddie and i loved joseph quinn even before he was eddie. they should really take the d&d kas the bloody handed arch with eddie and make it happen. the kas the bloody handed arch would make so much since with the storyline of our beloved eddie thus far.

Pretty much the entire narrative arc of this show has been realised before the cameras began rolling. That is testament to the Duffer Brothers' vision and creative genius.

Much as I loved Eddie, he's not coming back. Just as Barb's death informed Nancy's character development, Bob's informed Joyce's and Billy's informed Max's, Eddie is the catalyst for Dustin's. None of the deaths in this show mean nothing, even Chrissy's changed Eddie. In a way Hopper should have died too but seeing the story as they wove it, it makes you wonder where Joyce would have gone had he not been taken to Russia instead of dying

All I heard indirectly is that Eddie is coming back frozen in time…as a vampire 😂 aka “It’s Finally my year.” Aka “I’m forever stuck in this year at this age.” (I’m reading into slivers of nothing)

Season 4 brings back memories of playing D&D while listening to Metallica, Dio, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and the other rock gods in the background. With one D&D arch, I had players go into the planes of hell taking the fight to the source. It would be interesting if Stranger Things takes the arch of Eddie's character resurrected as "Eddie the Head" (Iron Maiden reference) into the "upside down" to raise a little hell. Perhaps some kind of super "bard" getting to play some mean riffs on his axe.

Yeah I think Steve deserves better. Nancy made her choice. I would have loved him with Robin, they have chemistry, though I do like that she ended up being lesbian.

I think it’s almost thrilling to see people take characters you created, so seriously. They must be very very proud.

Also The Lost Boys is also an 80s movie, I’m sure you two have seen it, might take notes from it.👀

How have I only just now found out some of these new Season 5 details from this? I've been looking everywhere for an interview like this and this has been here for 8 months?!?! I'm really happy that they plan for the dynamics of Season 1 to be re-visited because I really miss having all the boys together in a season, as it's not really happened since the first half of Season 2.

It was strange, to me Eddie dies sacrifices him self for the good of others, and except Dustin no body else even mentions him, it seems so cold and like others don't care about him but fantastic character hope to see him back in season 5🔙

I'm fine with Eddie dying and not coming back. He died a heroic death to save Dustin from the bats and he seemed at peace with that when he died. So I don't need to see him come back. What I WOULD like to see in Season 5 is all the residents of Hawkins learn they were wrong about him and learn what Eddie did to save Dustin and his friends. Eddie doesn't need resurrection. He needs redemption. As an 80's metal head and D&D nerd, I'm just happy to see all the love a character like Eddie is getting.

@@bernicaa2792 Well, he may have thought he needed to buy more time for Steve, Nancy, and Robin, PLUS the fact that he was feeling immense guilt over having run away from Chrissy when she was being killed. To me, it would have made more sense for his motivation to be to draw the bats out from and away from the gate in the trailer to protect Dustin. But as Game of Thrones Seasons 7 & 8 taught us...you can't always rely on otherwise good writers to make consistently good writing decisions.

If they brought him back, it wouldn't make any sense storywise...and before Volume 2 aired there were videos all over YT predicting Eddie's death, then when it actually happens and those predictions come to fruition, everyone is shocked and enraged 😂 Don't get me wrong, I loved Eddie and I bawled like a little bitch when he died...but that just proves how well it was done, that's what good TV is supposed to do.

@Nunya Business Yeah, but his name can still be cleared in season 5, he doesn't have to be alive for that. The town of Hawkins could even honor him with some type of posthumous award, that would be sweet...and hopefully we'll get some reactions from the other characters over Eddie's death, because that was my biggest complaint with the finale, Dustin was the only one who was affected. Granted, I do realize the others weren't as close to Eddie, but they still got to know him and should have some sad feelings regarding his death 🤷‍♀️

Season 4 had me on the edge of my seat! I cannot wait for 5.

Suzie has to be the main character of the spin-off. Her computing skills help her solve mysteries.

Bring Eddie Back! Bring Eddie Back! Bring Eddie Back! Otherwise this ending sucks, and you and suck . I am just gutted that none of the characters even acknowledged him...WTF.

Even if they don’t bring him back I hope and expect them to have some kind of memorial for Eddie. I think that would pacify a lot of us if they actually showed the cast respond to Eddie’s death. I am wondering what happened immediately after those events in the upside down where he died. I think I saw in the unlocked interview with the cast and crew that we’re going to see what happened with Eddie really affect Dustin. (and I’m actually kind of hopeful that he just passed out from pain and the gang is keeping him in hiding since he’s still wanted for murder)

If they would not bring his character back, I also would like to see some resolution as to what happened in those 2 days, acknowledgement from Steve,Robin,Nancy that they are also gutted. It just bothers me that they are acting so unaffected except for Dustin. Unless they really are protecting him. Im practically gaslighting myself into believing that's the case. I just never felt so utterly laid bare by a character death and it feels so inexplicable. There are no words....

it's funny because i read so many comments 'bring eddie back' and 'how dare you kill max'. people, this is not a show for children where only the bad people die and we all hold hands and sing songs from barney or mr. rogers at the end. this is a grown up show, and therefore there will be people dying that we love. it's part of why this show rings us out so much emotionally, and why it resonates. in all the greatest sagas, there is usually sacrifice.

The Duffer Brothers have confirmed that Season 5 will pick up where Season 4 left off. “It will be 100km/h from the start. We have already plotted the opening scene.”

Okay Duffer brothers, you are gonna end the show in next season and you guys have been brilliant. So please listen to the audience and their heartfelt love for Eddie. His character is so monumental, there's only so many times that a character is adored like this in such a small time. Eddie needs and deserves to come back. Period.

Well said! I can't recall a character on any show having this type of reaction with audiences in such a short time. Usually it takes time to build a fanbase like this, but his was almost instant.

Funny they said Bob's death was a shock bc the moment he appeared onscreen as Joyce's new love interest I knew he was probably gonna die. Jopper was made to be endagame so there was no way Bob would continue on the series past season 2.

I hope the bring him back i cried for a week i had makeup running down my face i lost i started crying when dustin told his uncle

this is how we bring back Eddy in season five. lets say there are two types of monster that attacked Eddy and Steve ,one that has a venom that make you paralyze, like a blow fish or snake so Vecna can come and get you later on another type that just bites like the ones that attacked Steve....maybe one with stripes and one with spots which shows why Steve just had wounds where Eddy looked to die. With the big battle at the end it gave Eddy enough time to wake up from his bite and the venom to where off and he comes out of the woods through the four gates looking for Dustin not knowing they think he is dead. he walks into town and that's how we keep Eddy for the last season...just a metal Dad that loved the character...please start liking it so maybe it gains so traction and the two brothers see it ..thanks love the show .....Dad

Them saying that they wanna reference the empire strikes back move is really foreshadowing. I’m a huge Star Wars nerd, and you can’t fool me with that reference. In Empire Strikes Back Luke finds out Vader is his father and trains under Yoda to master his Jedi skills and face that dark reality. Luke has visions, one of these visions is seeing han and leía suffering and in pain and thus goes forward to battle Vader. At some point luke and Leia are telepathically connected, and Leia I’m return taps into her Jedi powers to save her brother. Luke= El Han= Eddie Leia= Max El and Max are now telepathically and “supernaturally” connected, this is now proven because El can tap into the “white noise” to hear, see and talk with Max. If max is in a coma, El is the only one who can communicate and reach out to Max. Max in some way is connected to the upside down, therefor connected to the “supernatural” power of Vecna as well.Vecna being the Vader in this situation. She sees Vecna controlling creatures and the upside down getting stronger; she sees lost friends and towns people down there including Eddie. They are all reaching out to Max in someway, but more importantly, sees that Eddie is under influence from Vecna and “frozen” in the upside down. (Just like Han was frozen for a bit in empire strikes back) He is down there but cannot escape the upside down. Only max can hear Vecna, Eddie and El and the upside down. El taps into this, and along with the rest of the crew they tap into fighting Vecna in the upside down and out in the town. The townsfolk will battle as well (the rebellion) and the crew will head into the upside down one last time to rescue Eddie and beat Vecna.

Keep in mind vecna is a lich. liches in D&D control the undead. That would be neat if he came back as a Undead creature of some sort and betray vecna in the end like Darth Vader did the emperor. And for vecna to tell 11, 11 I am your father!

I had the same thought, but slightly different. Eleven would be Luke, Vecna is Darth Vader. And since Vecna never revealed his mother’s sins and why he hated her, we later find out it is because she had an affair with Dr. Brenner which would make papa Eleven’s grandfather. And so there it is. Last but not least, Eddie would definitely be Han, the vampire version

I hope they take a lot of time to polish and make season 5 as good as they can. You could tell that season 4 had extra thinking time.

Most shows that go past season 5 start to go downhill usually and the quality goes down. Rather go out on top like Breaking Bad, which also went 5 seasons or its spin off Better Call Saul. They ended at the right time.

I'm convinced Eddie will come back as a Puppet for Vecna. I think the title of the song Eddie playrd was very intentional not just with the way Vecnas been doing it but Eddie's fate.

I mean, them saying their decision to have a dark season 4 where they “lose” isn’t really a choice. It’s a very basic formula device. There’s a reason it’s used in nearly every film franchise.

The Wheelers Synopsis Mike and El have married and now face the important task of raising children and it will be especially challenging when the kids have inherited their Mother's powers.

I won't be popular with this opinion, but I don't want to see Eddie back if he would be a vampire or a zombie. Eddie is too pure and humble I don't want to see him being evil. The only way I can imagine, if it would be a flashback, when Dustin remember him like when they met and Eddie called Dustin and Mike to the Hellfire Club. Or some kind of scene like that. But not vampire, zombie or any evil character. Joseph said it well int the Access Interview: Eddie got a great arc in the show. We fell in love with him at first sight and get an important role in the story, and got a very heartbreaking end. It would be ruined with a vampire/zombie Eddie. I want to remember Eddie like this, as we met him, saw him in this season.

Just casue is their common story doenst mean is good, also 90% of Eddie being so loved and likable is thanks to Joe Quinn, the duffers even said he was the only actor that made him less annoying or threatening and added so much more

I know Elevens mother was presented in season 2.. however it would have been cool if there was a 002 female character that was also in the program who came back to protect Eleven, and opened the gate that pushed 001 into the upside down.

I’m waiting for the teacher from previous seasons to come back and teach the kids about time travel and the possibilities of it. The kids will find a way in the upside down to make time go back to before all this happens and end it before it begins
