So, after Duff left GnR, he went to Seattle University and got a bachelors in business. He himself said he had no idea about music until he went to college. Sit there for a minute and imagine what it was like to take music theory classes with him.

He talks about in his book, in his accounting classes, he would take copies of his own financial statements with all names white'd out, and ask the professor different questions, and "hypotheticals." He said the professor and asked why this young guy in his early 30s had multi-million dollar financial statements and caught on who he was. He said a few times people brought him records to sign and it kind of blew his cover, which he said made him feel uncomfortable, and he said he had to address that he was there as a student not a rocker. I think he said college was the only time in his life he went by his birth name Michael and not by Duff.

This is a special moment that shows how music still has the power to bring people together. They were rivals and even were fighting for a while and here they are on a couch enjoying playing music together. Duff was one of the last people to see Kurt alive. They shared a flight from LA to Seattle but when Duff was going to ask Kurt to share a room, Kurt was gone already. It was too late.
