I agree with Duff, when you listen to Appetite, you knew these guys weren’t playin around, the album will stand the test of time.

His autobiography is insanely awesome! Such a great musician, bandmate and human!

Duff is THE BEST!!!!!! I will never forget his performance on the last GnR gig in London - he was posing for pictures on stage so people could get good shots with their cameras - all for fans joy. He's my favourite GnRer, such a great guy!!! :D :D :D Thanks Duff!! :D

Duff is such a cool guy. Met him and Gilby prior to the Hard Rock casino opening in Vegas back in the 90s. He is one of the most underrated bass players. In my opinion, he's one of the best bass players in the world. Just break down GNR songs and listen to his bass parts...totally insane!!!

Plus, there's just a certain 'flavor' he brings to the songwriting. You can hear it by listening to solo Slash and then listening to Duff's solo LP.

I've known Duff since we met at The Who show in Seattle in 82 he's a genuine cool cat.

Great!! Local bands should help each other, not the opposite. We really need that kind of solidarity cause it's a tough business. Many years since I realized that!!!

Learn Duffs intro lines to the beginning of sweet child. Such tasteful, relaxing riffs underneath slash’s audio carnival. And then that bump and grind feel throughout is so groovy. I love his and Adlers playing on Rocket Queen as well!

Duff's SCOM intro is the best part of the song! Slash's riff is tattooed into everyone's brain but Duff's emotional yearning bassline is the real star.

Yea, it sucked when everyone split, but they made some great music while together. Still have never seen them, got fucked out of 600 bucks at Rockville, trying to see them last year, was so excited about it... Axl's voice just isn't the same though and I'm really not feelin that new song they released.

Axl was a bit of a control freak that drove people away. For me Appetite was their best. I liked LIES as well. But wasn't fussed on Illusions. That's the angle AXL wanted to take the band. But one thing Axl maybe innocent of is being late or holding up the show being 2 hours late. He maybe suffering from high iron causing fatigue. I didn't know I had it or what was wrong with me for decades. So I wondered that about Axl

Did not expect this interview, but I am extremely happy for it.

Appetite for Destruction showed the band was not playing around. Axl “being afraid of no man” added a layer to that seriousness. Love the new song Perhaps. Saw GNR in KC in 2017, and in 2 weeks I am taking my son to the St. Louis show. 🤘🏻

Hands down best debut album ever

NEVER thought I’d see the day where Duff McKagan was interviewed by Rich Eisen. Super cool to see and a great listen.

I’m born and raised in Seattle and he’s right about the rain. So many talented ppl who play music that few know about locally. In the winter it’s either go to the mall or stay inside and play music

Fakename70 It may be Cliché so to speak but it’s very true. Grew up in the 80’s and there were so many bands from here that went unnoticed. A lot of bands went to LA for the scene there in the 80’s and not all of those bands were from LA they were from all over the country to get noticed, Hence the saying “ If I’m gonna be a big star, I better go to LA/Hollywood”

Nivek Ok, but, I’m from there as well, and also played in no-name bands that stayed inside to practice, but not because of the fucking weather. Good grief! The music coming out of the 206 was unique from everywhere else because it was always raining? Such a false narrative. I highly doubt any of the players slogging it out in countless rehearsal spaces around the city - then or now - did so because it was raining.

I was at the show May1988 Vancouver when Iton Maiden Fired GNR. Dickinson came out and challenged Axl 2 a fist fight. I think Iron Maiden was just jealous and knew they were gonna have a hard time impress us after GNR opened. A month later GNR was all over the Radio etc. I was blessed too catch the last GNR show before they had any money or food. They were so Raw and Broke . Ha . it was truly Magical

That's the theory I had about musicians from the UK and Ireland. They pump out good music because they have tons of time to work on it because of the weather.

Almost didn't recognize Duff with a baseball cap. Such a cool dude !!

He sounds just like Dave Grohl which is bizarre because Grohl grew up in DC

This guy is really into martial arts and staying clean. He helped Weiland get clean for at least a little bit. Seems like a good guy.

It's the rain homie! I was in the Air Force for 4 years up there and it was beautiful but it rains 9 months out of the year

I have wondered the same thing about the UK, it's the weather.

Watched Duff live in a line up called 'kings of chaos'.... Phenomenal

It's worth remembering the reason Guns had trouble getting signed wasn't that everyone who saw them agreed they'd be the biggest band in the world, it's just that they thought they'd never live to actually accomplish that.

Was in line getting beer at a 1993 Sonic playoff game. Duff and Kim were in line right in front of us. Duff could hardly speak he was so fucked up. I'm not exaggerating. I'm not sure how he got served. They did indulge us asking stupid questions, though.

God I hope we get a new album......

I really hope Axl would instead do a surprise talk like this soon. Even though it was nice, I don't particularly like the press conference he did after the return. Wish "The General, Going Down and Crash Diet" comes along with the new album's track list.

I remember seeing a picture of Duff in a Raiders shirt as a kid, hence I became a Raiders fan. Gee, thanks Duff! 😒

I set up equipment for concerts in scranton, and when walking papers was with rockstar energy tour, I was setting up duffs gear for about an hour, he was hanging around, still to this day, I wish I got a picture of it. 😑

I NEED that new GnR record.... can’t wait for it.

@@ChrissurfsYeah, I'm not a big fan of Duff's solo stuff but some of it is interesting. The Slash R&F'nR solo album and the first two SMKC albums IMO are absolute masterpieces. The Izzy Ju Ju stuff I didn't care for much, but I've heard some others stuff like My Baby ran to Vietnam and such I really dig.

He's supposedly been sober for HOW long at the time of this interview!!?! I love Duff w all my heart, but I can also recognize a drink or two.. Other than that....what a solid guy. Hope he's doing well, for real..

No higher power, just a bunch of dudes that ended up playing together and made great music. There were half a dozen or so other dudes and a different band name before the "original" lineup came together. That's how most of the Sunset Strip bands came to be, different members of different bands splitting and joining others to form the bands that we know

Duff is a class act- just a wonderful human being.

Despite the fact that Axl was a jerk and that he looks like a grandma today Appetite for Destruction is one of the best rock albums of all time. Up there with White Album, Nevermind, Led zeppelin etc

Always loved this band the only one i really didnt like was axl in his diva prima dona times,nothing against him i dont know him,but the music they did together was top to me,always be a fan of Slash,Duff and Izzy this 3 marked me for all life.
