Dude left Taoism in less than 3 minutes!

A student claiming to be a Taoist says that good and evil are just concepts and that we should “flow with the universe and not resist anything.” When Frank asks him if he would resist the Nazis, the student gives a surprising response.

Pride is one of the heaviest sins to bear so much so that admitting it requires a complete change of character, which most people become unable to do. The first sin ever is not Eve's disobedience to God, rather Satan's pride and burning desire to be equal to God. @@gloriapichardo3310 that is because you read the Bible backwards, and thus believe in the circular argument that Jesus was really God -> because Jesus was telling the truth -> because Jesus was really God. If you don't assume what you're trying to prove, and just rely on the events as they were described in the new testament, you are left with a Jew who is a "prophet or dreamer of dreams", who performed "signs and wonders" that "came to pass", and relied on them as evidence to prove that the Jews should worship him in addition to Yahweh (see John 10:25). His followers also don't follow the laws of the old testament (see deu 13:4), claiming to know what God intended when he gave them, and instead of following his explicit instructions they follow a different set of rules made by men and/or Jesus. Lastly, most the Jews of the time rejected his message, and had him executed, just as deu 13:5 says they should do. So, as you can see, the passage fits Jesus like a glove. To top it all off, when asked what the most important commandment is, Jesus quotes deu 13:3 almost verbatim, providing further evidence that he was sent by God to test the Jews.

hello, taoist here! :) i'd like to clear up a little bit of misunderstanding in this video. people often think taoists are constantly passive and will never go against anything. this isn't true. taoism is all about balance, and while they value passivity and tranquility, they also know that it needs to be balanced out with force, but only when it is required. if you've ever seen karate kid, the taoist attitude is very similar to mr miyagi's philosophy, know how to fight, but try to avoid it when possible as fighting never ends well. the kid in the video is a bit misinformed, he certainly means well but he hasn't learned everything yet. but that's okay, even i am still learning. the truth is that taoists know fighting is sometimes necessary for survival. after all, taoism was created during a time of constant war in ancient china. because of the constant war and death however, taoists never celebrated victories, rather they mourned the casualties. because even if you win a war, you still lose lives, but sometimes it just can't be helped. taoists would not sit idly by while nazis tried to take over their country, they would understand that it's required to fight back and take action.

If the person is willing to use logic "as this young man was" then he or she will see that these kind of feel good arguments have no grounding in logic. It sounds good to "accept everything" but real logic shows that accepting everything only works until that everything starts infringing on your personal convictions.

This kid had no research, he was just pretending because he thought it was cool, but did not actually grasp the concepts of Taoism. The Tao Te Ching is a short book of good advice (for free on the internet, and well worth the hour or so to read at least once) and fits in very well with other precepts of morality. If you take this person as a speaker of the Tao, than you are listening to a fool. This boy is trying to be clever, and cleverness is a sign of a lack of intelligence in Taoism. As someone who has been looking into philosophical Taoism for over a year, even I don't think I have a firm enough grasp to teach others. Responding the arguments of this speaker would be a simple task even with my limited knowledge, but a true Taoist wouldn't have argued to begin with. 2 Timothy 2:14 of the bible: Remind others about these things, and warn them before God not to argue over words. Arguing does not do any good but only destroys those who are listening. Tao Te Ching chapter 81: Truthful words are not beautiful. Beautiful words are not truthful. Good men do not argue. Those who argue are not good. Those who know are not learned. The learned do not know.

There's research to suggest extreme naivete can end up causing neurosis when evil eventually does visit that person. I don't understand the confusion though. The Bible is full of examples of very evil people. We must guard our hearts and not be consumed by their evil, but there is evil.

Living Waters channel with Ray Comfort has some amazing short videos on this as well. If you are looking for understanding, perhaps I could interest you on his channel as well. Your choice. Suffice to say I find their explanations insufficient at best and sometimes downright absurd and despicable (in the case of Dr WL Craigs explanation of everything in human history being morally justified) at worst. Have you ever heard the atheist responses to the questions you pose? There are some excellent ones. Alex O’Connor (cosmic skeptic) has some great videos on objective moral frameworks without god. That is the time for MOTION lmao ie RESISTANCE 😂 that does not make me not a taoists. Wei wu wei literally translates to “action non-action,” and so this man trying to convince this self-proclaimed Taoist that he is not a taoists is incorrect because he doesn’t understand the Tao. The man who claims to be a Taoist but thinks that it means to not resist anything also is not a Taoist because he doesn’t understand the Tao. A lot of misunderstandings from both parties, neither understand the Tao. They should read the Tao Te Ching once again (I’m not too sure whether they’ve read it but that doesn’t truly matter). Good luck to them both, and all of you descendants of the Roman Catholic inquisitioners, as what they did is what the nazis attempted to do. Roman Catholic inquisitioners were just successful, where the nazis were not. Catholicism, and all of it’s branch religions, are man-made and existed/exist to manipulate and control the masses. Taoists stand in the middle, near the ground. The peaks of peace and valleys of war need not exist when we all simply realize that Taoism exists where the masses finally accept that our nation will be called Peace, and our people will behave peacefully; until a violent actor attempts to enact violence toward us. Only then will we taoists obliterate he or she who violates our peace, then return to living in our peace. And we do not obliterate the entire country of people from which the violent actor(s) came, we ONLY obliterate the violent actor(s); to attempt to justify obliterating their peaceful countrypersons IS NOT in allignment with the Tao. Taoists do not believe in creating alliances with other countries that mandate that we act as aggressors in other countries to maintain said alliance; we protect ourselves, and our peace. America IS NOT aligned with the Tao, nor any other “world-power” countries.

Resisting is going with the way of the universe. I'm Christian, but I also understand daoism, and this wasn't a good argument. It's not in human nature to allow yourself to die, or others. Resisting is also "going with it".

Frank Terek is like the Batman of Christainity. No matter who challenges him he has a plan and is always ten steps ahead of everyone when they try to debate him or question him.

Taoism doesn’t mean to not resist anything. It means to avoid struggling pointlessly

daoism not Taoism says be one with nature... its natural for us to resist what we don't like so yea he could still be daoist... a tiger is one with nature yet it still has to protect one's self.. being defensive does not mean your not daoist.....

In Daoism, you can set whatever goal you want. You can have the goal of fighting nazis. You just have to fight them without forcing yourself. Fight with ease and naturally. It's like the butcher who finds the weakest points in the meat when runs his knife through it. Find the nazis where they are weakest and cut through that. Let the fear and adrenaline flow through you, but don't let it control you as you fight. That kind of stuff. There is even a Daoist thief in Zhuangzi. So, it doesn't matter what goal you choose.
