I just found it yesterday, and I'm obsessed now. I did a search today for duckpin bowling alleys and it turns out they only exist in 11 states, mostly in New England. What a shame! This looks like a blast!

I grew up in Rhode Island. I bowled at lanes in Smithfield that are gone now. I also bowled here with my friends. I've been lucky to bowl ten-pin, duckpin, and candle-pin. I found duck-pin the most challenging. I wish the sport would grow.

I grew up duckpin in Stratford, CT. During the 90s. That place was amazing! Vivid memories. Upstairs and downstairs with about 15 lanes on each floor. And around the parameter they had arcade games/claw machines, etc. VERY OLD SCHOOL VIBE!! From what I heard the owner died and the son never reopened it. The building is still there. Hopefully it gets reopened one day and not demolished! 🤞

I bowled candlpin back in the 1960s and '70s at Pafford's Bowling alley, (now Town Hall Lanes) in Falmouth, Ma. I bowled Duckpin back in the '60s when I traveled off Cape, but stayed in New England of course. I remember when I served in the army back in the late 1960s and mentioned candle pin bowling to someone who had never been to New England and they would look at me like I was some kind of a nut! Duckpin is a nice little game somewhere between candlepin and ten pin bowling.

Ricashbringer There has never been a sanctioned perfect game. Plenty of people will claim they know someone who has. I’ve had plenty of amateur claim to do it themselves not understanding they are immediately exposing themselves to me as a liar. All that said, 12 strikes in row in duckpin bowling maybe the most difficult thing ever conceived by human beings.

I'm 73 and when I was 12-13 I was what was called a "pinboy". We setting the balls . Obviously before automation. There was pedal we stepped on that made the spikes come up from the floor and with pins in hand you set them on the spikes. There was a passage between the two lanes so all the pinboys had 2 lanes to take care of. This game would be good for families wirh kids as the balls are way smaller.

I wish there was more duckpin bowling. Standard duckpin bowling is the closest cousin to our 5 pin game. 3 balls per frame, same balls, similar difficulty. Although there has been (very few) perfect games in 5 pin, and none in duckpin, it does indicate that it's more difficult to get strikes in duckpin, but it's also much easier to spare splits.

John Williams These two are bad representations of what duckpin has to offer as a whole. Dig deeper next time before labeling something. They’re young guys. That should tell you all you need to know about why they’re trying to force their way to victory. Donnie’s very first ball tells you everything you need to know. He was so tense he was a foot off the headpin to the tense side (2 pin). Duckpin maybe the most difficult iteration of bowling ever conceived but yeah, Ok, boomer.

Duckpin is a lot harder than 10 pin if you try to throw a big hook u will either throw it in the gutter or leave something weird. Avg in duckpin is about 90 vs 10 pin which is 140

Used to duckpin in Baltimore. A hook will mostly chop the pins leaving mist standing or land in gutter.

If only someone can invent a new duckpin pinsetter and opening up a manufacture plant or warehouse to develop more of those. That pinsetter should be strictly free fall instead of the StringPin crap from Brunswick

As a duckpin bowler, nothing takes the wind out of my sails and rapes my hope for the future of humanity and by extension, my beloved sport, than the comment section of this video. HOW DARE YOU!? I SHOULD BE IN THE BOWLING ALLEY RIGHT NOW WORKING ON MY APPROACH. INSTEAD I AM HERE. PREACHING TO YOU 10 PIN ELITISTS. DUCKPIN BOWLING IS DYING! Please help by support the few alleys still open. I’m done the Greta joke now and I’m being serious. I bowl at AMF Southwest in Linthicum, MD. Come hang out. Bowl a couple games. Join a league! It’s like gambling but you get to exercise and play on a team!

I have bowled 4 different types of bowling in my lifetime and I can absolutely I assure you that duckpins which is what I grew up on in Massachusetts in the 70's- 2000's (candlepin 86'-94')is hands down the most fun out of any bowling game( and yes with the exception of candlepins(180) I bowled over 200 in all other bowling games including Canadian rubber ring duckpins.)Tenpin bowling is the most boring thing to play and watch. Hi impact solid plastic Duckpins fly from side to side with more action than any other bowling game and are a blast to bowl or watch. Tenpins just go clunk strike and with the exception of professionals whom strike most all the time, League tenpin bowlers are some of the worst spare shooters I've ever seen whereas duckpin/candlepin bowlers are far more accurate spare shooters as higher averages are completely dependent upon spares and not strikes!!
