    Why has it taken so long for a video like this? Every other vide has a pro lining up saying "I normally start around here at this center" followed by "I'll move 2 boards and that's how you line up." Having an amateur involved brought out the why. "Throw the ball here, look for this, step here, throw the same line, look for this. Since the ball did that, change your hand position to this." I very much appreciated this video and would love to see more communication on other patterns between a pro and amateur.

    Yea agree 100% it gets so tiring seeing the hjgher level players and you tubers doing just that, 'I normally roll from thirty five out to fifteen because Im a high rev player'. I would prefer to see a lower average player being coached because lets be realistic, the majority are not rolling off 200+ averages.

    I know he was embarrassed. But this is the type of videos the rest of us need to get better. Its hard watching someone who already has it fugured out telling you how to figure it out. VS someone who's actively getting better making small tweaks. Awesome video. Thanks for doing it.

    Step 1 when bowling on an unknown sport pattern: Take your benmark resin ball and roll it at medium speed 'straight up' center arrow. Watch for the moment it jumps left. Note where on the lane it jumped. Now you know approximately the length of the pattern. With that intel you can start getting lined up in the expected area the pattern length should dictate. Tune the shot from there.

    what if it seems like ur getting something a little different each time u throw? A little under or a little over. Also are u suggesting to play more though the middle and less on the right hand side of the lane? TY very much!!!

  • @nordattack

    @nordattack

    2 күн бұрын

    @@kenmaksim4096 No. What I meant was, when you are bowling on a mystery pattern, a sport pattern where you DO NOT know what it is or what its length is, if you roll a ball dead up the middle of the lane right over center arrow, when the ball exits the oil pattern it will hook suddenly. Note how far down the lane it was when it hooked. Now you know the approximate length of the pattern. This is all this trick is good for. As to your question about getting a different reaction each time you throw your shot in the same part of the lane. This tells you you are playing in the WRONG part of the lane. On sport shots over/under is the first sign you are playing in the wrong part of the lane. The more over/under there is, the more wrong where you are playing and even using the wrong ball too. The more miss room you have, the better the part of the lane you are playing. The goal is not to have to be a bowling God who can hit a dime every time at 20 feet. You need an area of the lane you can hit and still be good. Most bowlers on sport shots don't use low enough grits on their balls. So these shinier balls will skid too much and jump too much making the shot harder than it needs to be. Sport shots have a TON of oil and you can use 500 grit through 2000 grit on your resin balls and have a much better reaction. On all patterns, Sport and House, in warm up find the part of the lane that lets you miss the most and still get to the pocket. That is the best area to play.

    This is a great video for people that are only used to league or House Shots. On those shots, people essentially play the same shot every week and move their feet a little right or left depending on oil amounts. On a Sport Shot or a PBA shot, it's literally like solving a puzzle using deduction over multiple shots at different angles. Fantastic job showing how to do that here.

    Brad & Kyle. Loved the video. But I wanted to ask a question and clarify somethings that were counter intuitive to me. First for back ground. I’m in my 60’s and I did a lot of bowling in the 70s thru the 90s. Speaking generally, back in the day it seemed that the slicker the lane was we tended to move out and the dryer it was we moved inside which is totally opposite of what you see today. I recall some really dry conditions where we’d play 3rd, 4th, or 5th arrow AND we’d pull out the good ole Columbia Blue Dot which was as hard as a diamond. The hard shinny ball gave us (hopefully) some skid, and the deep inside line gave us room, and again the hard shinny ball surface prevented over hooking. So I guess my question is two fold; first you said changing balls would not really help, but it seems like that is a great tool to try and get the ball further down lane before hooking. And secondly, using Kevin’s first shot or two, why wasn’t moving left with the feet and target an option for getting the ball further down the lane?

  • @feralas-hell7341

    @feralas-hell7341

    Ай бұрын

    Yep two boards and a shift in eye target can make all the difference, gotta remember though, back in the nineties we were all rolling LT-48's and the like which needed to be rolled down two board when lanes were quite dry. Especially on a cooked shot.

    Gone are the days where I try to throw an aggressive hook from the left side of the lane. It seems to me that now the money zone is basically from the center to the edge of the right gutter. My adjustment tends not to vary more than 5 boards depending on the oil pattern. It took me years to accept this...I was still trying to throw like I did 20 years ago and couldn't understand why I would cut through the head pin so often.

  • @shaneimler9328
    @shaneimler9328Ай бұрын

    Those gutters perfectly explain the difference between sport patterns and house patterns, and it literally doesn't matter which sport pattern. On a house shot you basically want to get the ball right as fast as possible to let it hook back. On a sport pattern you need to get the ball out of the back end of the pattern to make it hook. In other words on a house shot you need to get the ball out on the lane and a sport pattern you need to get it down lane.

  • @tourproto

    Loved this video, but I have a question. Couldn't you also move your feet left (past the center) but aim at the 10 board (give or take) to achieve the same result? Instead of setting up on the right but with a smoother release like you did with Kevin? It seems to me that the short pattern would allow the ball to hook once you got past the 35' mark but still not go into the gutter and hook back into the pocket. What am I missing? Would setting up this way just have the ball slide into the gutter?

    Thank you Brad & Kyle for a great video. I’m curious why Kyle chosed a Cheetah pattern which in my opinion is pratically mostly played with Urethan and not resin. On a intl. tournament in CH everybody was throwing Hammer purple on the Broadway V2 (37ft, 26mls) and bowled in the 220-250’s - everybody trying resin was struggling extremly. Please tell me why you didn’t select a pattern like +43ft more suited to reactive resin with surface?

    I appreciate you guys bringing out content, but I am concerned with the way you guys want to believe amateur bowlers average 200 points. Kevin, to me, would be a semi pro bowler or even pro since many pros average about 200-215. For reference: Beginner average 90-120pts Novice average 120-145pts Intermediate average 130-165pts Amateur average 150-180 (me) Advanced average 175-200 Semi-pro average 190-215 Pro average 200-230 For fun!! 😂 Semi-Gods/Goddesses averages 225-250 Gods/Goddesses average 250-280

    Averaging 200 on a house shot is NOT a professional level bowler. Most pros average 240 (if not higher) in their leagues when they bowl on a house shot. I’m 53 years old. I bowled PBA regionals for years in my 20s and 30s. Then I quit for about 15 years and just got back into the game last year. I averaged 220 on a house shot this season and there is no way I could compete against any pro.

  • @DynamicGracer

    Semi pro here Eric Smyth I average 221 book and also lose at regionals / scratch tournaments 220 isn’t enough I will admit though they let you bowl regionals with a 200+ average But those people rarely if ever min cash and never ever win Every once in a while there is a guy that is 205 on house and 195 on sport (which is amazing) But generally the 225 guys on house are 200-205 on sport You need to be really good and really smart (and throw straight at spares) and average over 225 to even have a chance at breaking even at regionals in the long run
