The Duchy 35 is quite clearly a beautiful vessel from every angle but she's also a fantastic day boat and capable weekender with two comfortable cabins.
This is a vessel where the pictures really can do all the talking so I hope you enjoy.

The reaction to the toilet roll holder was the best part of the video for me LoL… Beautiful vessel.
This boat just exudes clever thoughtfulness and quality above and beyond. The convertible seats are genius. So is the pop-up bed with gas strut. I like that it has just one head (boats are like rabbit warrens today and with more toilets than a house!) That they tucked an additional bed sideways under the floor of the saloon basically for kids or people who don't mind crawling is something NOBODY would come up with! Most companies would reject that. But I think it's ingenious. The beautiful seaworthy hull and cabin just does it. What a boat!
The carpentry is superb , such a gorgeous detailing .Great presentation, thank u

classic looks and mega safe. Love it.
Great video Dan and a beautiful boat. I don’t know if you saw the Duchy Sport when you were down there but it’s pretty special too.

I did Bill, we saw one under covers in the factory and i'd love an opportunity to test next year on one of my return trips to Europe/U.K as she's a cool boat with some unique opportunities for different owners I believe.
Glad New Zealand got a good plug. We like our weather thanks.

William Hand designed hulls like this into the early 1930's which planed with only one engine up to 40 feet. Nice to hear someone refer to the proper name for a saloon instead of salon. What is that? A place to have your hair and nails done?
What's the hull rating? B or C ??? Thanks
Drop dead bloody gorgeous Dan! Love this boat, great review. If I was going to nit-pick, I'd have to say the surface mounted VHF and speakers in the saloon could be done better.......Are you going to review the Duchy Sport??............. :)
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
Жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, I believe with Duchy you can basically ask for any customization you want so if something like the VHF mounting annoys you then just get them to change it. They are very much a custom/bespoke builder. I saw the Duchy Sport but it was not in the water and winter seemed like it had already arrived so it's likely going to be a 2023 opportunity.

Bass Strait crossing? What is economical cruising speed/range?
@BoatLife_DansBoatLife
Жыл бұрын
Yep i'd cross in this hull. I would do it with the Yanmar motor's instead of the Nani i was testing so best to follow the link in the description and ask Sam Davis from Davis Marine. From memory you would be happy sitting in that 14 - 18kts speed range.
@davismarinebrokerage
Жыл бұрын
With the Yanmar V8s, at 8 knots you can do 649nm. At 14 knots you can do 297nm. You could cruise nicely at 19 - 20 knots and still have a range of 275nm but even at full tilt being 30knots she'll have more than enough to make the Bass Strait crossing which is around 190nm at the widest. She has a range of 253nm at full throttle.
Cornwall not England;-).I enjoy your vlogs .

Ich hab es nicht verstanden. Wenn du im Boot am Steuer bist, dann trägst Du eine Rettungsweste, draußen läufst Du ohne herum. Was jetzt?

It's a habbit I have, that I clearly haven't been able to control yet. Seems to fill gaps in my speech that a pause would be more appropriate for lol
Have to say the presentation is like the previous videos the sound needs levelling. Just OK whilst at the helm but after that barely audible at max volume.

Thanks Anthony, i'm still not all that educated on the audio side of things. I used multiple cameras with multiple audio inputs so that's some future learning for me. It will improve..
Your guests with normal-to-short legs will not be happy with the tall seating that has their legs dangling clear of the deck. The raised seat edge will put pressure on their circulation, and they will be dizzy and stumble upon getting up if they sit there long.

At 35ft it's also an achieveble size for many people and their berth availability so get in touch with Davis Marine if you want to have a look at the first boat to arrive. It's an impressive vessel!

I guess the way I have always compared boats is against the price of apartments. $1M will still only just buy you a 1 bedroom apartment in Sydney so when you wind the clock back before covid it compared about the same.
Pity the guy doing the description dosnt use nautical terms.
