Ducati XDiavel S - 1 Year Ownership Review & Walkaround

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Ducati XDiavel S is the first entry into the cruiser market for Ducati. With it's powerful 1260cc Testastretta L-Twin engine, and huge rear diamond cuty alloy the XDiavel S makes a statement. But after a year of ownership with this low mileage 2018 model, here is what I have found you need to look out for. And does it change my thoughts on the XDiavel S?

The fuel sender and rear brake line issues sound to me like design flaws which *should* be subject to global recalls. I appreciate the bean counters at Ducati wouldn't be happy about that, but what they're not quantifying is the reputational damage the company is suffering because instead of "doing the right thing", they're seeing what they can get away with. That's the sort of bitter aftertaste that can make the purchasing decision for you, especially on something that expensive. I'm also pretty sure both issues fall foul of British consumer law. I'm not sure of the exact wording under UK law, but the Aussies call it a "reasonable expectation of durability". This has good lawsuit potential, especially the brake lines. Ducati management need to pull their finger out and take care of their customers BEFORE they have to be compelled to do so, lest the company suffer irreparable reputational damage.

Great review and pretty much sums up everything. Subbed as a fellow Xdiavel owner. I have owned mine now for just over 2 yrs 2016 with 3500mls and you're correct this bike makes you feel soooo cool riding it but sadly I have been rather unlucky with mine. One bit of advice is get a radiator Guard ASAP I have just had to get mine replaced at £1000 3500mls although not from road damage but the lower tank pipe join leaking. Had belts done last year and service at £600 and just put 2 new tyres on at £335 Luckily I had a 3rd party warranty which covered the Radiator. The rear drive belt has also got a nice groove dug into from a stone that can get wedged between the front Sprocket and engine casing. The Dealer also did the Rear brake lines for me but put multiple scratches over the frame as it's a pig of a job and the air box has to come out, Luckily I video my bikes/cars before they go into Dealers as always seem to get damaged. they tried to deny It but had them bang to rights so they had to replace the frame at £1000 + This winter the poorly fitted rear brake line by them was touching the exhaust shield and melted through so lost my whole rear brake. didn't trust them so did the work myself as couldn't go through the stress of another frame replacement lol Other than that I love it hahahaha

Brilliant - truly one of the best down-to-earth reviews of a 'super bike' ever! We mortals never get to see these machines so your expose was much enjoyed, thank-you! One thing please, your voice recording was very shaky suggesting either your mic, or the bike has 'no' suspension or a combination of both? I once had a Porsche 911 and below 50 it was a shocker on poor roads but came alive above that, is that the same for the Duc?

The rear brake was a Brembo problem not a Ducati problem. The recall fixed the problem free of charge. The fuel sensor issue was linked to ethanol+mixed (used heavily in Europe) gasoline which caused the glitch. Solution: high octane pure gasoline.

The normal Diavel has mid mount footpegs, chain driven, and a riding position with more emphasis on sporty riding. Its also a higher seating position. The S model also has Ohlins suspension. The XDIAVEL has feet forward foot postion, with a lower seat position more suited for cruising comfort and enjoying the ride instead of going fast all the time. The XDiavel is belt driven so easier to maintain and the S Model comes with the awesome diamond cut wheels. They both are good looking bikes but the XDiavel is designed more for sophisticated style than the Diavel which is sport orientated and has more branding on it. Basically if you want a sporty experience go for the Diavel, if you want a cruiser experience go for XDiavel.

Its alot better than the panigale for heat as the engine is like more infront of u than inbetween ur legs, also the fan doesnt reqlly kick in as much as the panigale.

You have ot pay for the fuel fault? Terrible way for Ducati to handle it. And you have to pay for recall repairs?

Not if it is in warranty. If its an official safety recall you don't have to pay in warranty or out of warranty.

A diavel with a back rest that’s interesting. If you are going to ruin the looks of a bike at least ad storage space armrest a comfy back and a cup holder. May as well do an orange flag too. And maybe a chain link cover and some lights for that license plate contraption that’s still on there

For all youtubers: please articulate more, i mean with your mouth in order to deliver a clear speech separating words etc, like news tv reporters does. Keep in mind that most of your audience or potencial audience speak other languages and will have a hard time or will need to fully watch the translation wich is a downer

Nothing wrong with the way he talks, it’s a regional accent. You need to read your text before you post! the red line under your text means you’ve made a spelling mistake. People from around the world may not understand your poorly written english… Great review thanks, thinking of getting on and not sure if I want to pay the extra for the X.

@@nortonbloomfield1200 I'm pointing out something that perhaps those of you who speak English as a first language don't notice, but when the automatic translation of youtube isn't doing well like confusing fuel sender with fuel center I guess is telling you something. Is a fact that in communication training the clarity of the message is emphasized, there are exercises for that , is the difference between a professional and an amateur. Regardless, I really like the content of the video, I just wanted to add value and I can tell that accents is a thing to be aware off when making content. For example Australians are not that easy to understand, take SLV channel, the girl is clearly understood but not his husband Riley who sometimes slurs his words , MDB on the other hand is an aussie channel that is well understood. In my case, , I learned most of my English right here on the networks, I don't make content but I improved every day, the fact that I am having a conversation in this language is a joy for me, 2 years ago I wouldn't be able to put 1 sentence together. Have a nice 2024.

I use my harley tender or a dokio solar cell charger to charge my battery because the tender i bought from ducati is the crappest piece of chinese plastic shite overpriced, that i prefer the harley tender. The ducatis stop flashing and eating battery if you lock the front wheel, after 12 hours the light stops flashing and the battery doesnt deplete. The harley tender uses the same connector, but is ten times better quality
