Ducati Streetfighter 848 - MotoGeo Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Ducati Streetfighter 848 is naked, aggressive and littered with performance products.
MotoGeo's Jamie Robinson tells you all about the machine that he took on the Italian Adventure and what gives the Streetfighter lots of character.

    Had a 2012. Was a great bike for all the same reasons you mentioned. A few negatives were the plastic fuel tank can swell if you have to use ethanol fuel, the clutch was heavy, it had a slow turn into corners, and the dash was too basic. I sold it for an 1199 Panigale and definitely miss it's comfort and lower running costs.

    Mine is a 2012, I've had it just over 3 years now (it was the dealer's demonstrator and came with R&G protection all over) and I still love it! The first time I took it for a test ride, the weather was atrocious, but the bike was stable. That said, it has (in my opinion) plenty of character & I've never been disappointed riding it, or looking at it. I still don't want to trade it for anything... Hope this helps. Ride safe!

    Hey Jamie. Thank you for all this great videos during all this years! I want to ask you about the SF848. Although many years passed since this video, can you give me some feedback on how it’ll be with a pillion. I’m currently on a 2005 Ducati 999 and I’m looking for something a bit more comfortable that can make at least a 15-30 minutes ride through town with my wife. Thanks in advance!

    A couple of years ago, I REALLY wanted this bike to work for me. It didn't, the ergo's just made it annoying, and quite uncomfortable, especially on my wrists. As I said, I wanted this bike so much, but in the end I went for a fully tricked out Street Triple R complete with quickshifter and Arrows. I hope the new 899 version is an improvement.

    The only thing keeping me from considering a Ducati as my next bike is that I do all of my own maintenance, including valve adjustments, and on a Ducati that's a no go.

  • @unit764

    @unit764

    agreed, I'd get a used ducati first to practice getting it right before I bought one new. The reall annoyance is how often they need their valve adjustments, these bikes do not really agree with daily riding needs. You'd be hard pressed for a better weekend bike though.

    +Motorcycle Extremist Do you really want to spend the rest of your life not knowing what it's like? I had to have one (1996 M750) It was worth the valve adjustment... I'd do it again. Some things in life are worth getting out of your comfort zone, a Ducati is one of those things.

    I own a black streetfighter 848, the foot pegs aren't grippy, your feet will slip, you need a special 'C' spanner to adjust the chain that does not come with the bike, but it really puts a smile on my face every time I ride it

    I hear the clutch pull is hard. Thoughts?

  • @TychoCelchu

    @TychoCelchu

    Not that I noticed. The current generation of hydraulic wet clutches on Ducati bikes are very good. Certainly better than their old dry clutch predecessors and the last cable wet clutch that I used (RSV4). Clutch was a bit heavy on my old 848 Evo, but that wasn't helped by the low clip-ons putting pressure on your wrists. The bar position on the Streetfighter gives you better leverage.

  • @Beneldor

    @Beneldor

    10 жыл бұрын

    Yes, the clutch is very stiff. Your left hand will be in serious pain if you get caught in bumper to bumper traffic. They market this as a streetbike but if you plan on being stuck in traffic a lot, dont get it. It's a great motorcycle but not a good bike if you plan on commuting a lot with the risk of stop and go traffic. the street triple is a much better option for that. However, if you want to hit the twisties, i personally think this bike is far superior with it's riding position and torque. just my two cents

    Great looking bike. Have to say, though, that seat is like sitting on a plank of wood. Can't imagine putting hours on that thing. By contrast, the 2015 Monster seat is pure luxury.
